This was a very nice hotel. First impressions weren't that great as the entrance is very low-key and looks very basic. In fact, I initially walked past the hotel, not realising it was there! But please don't judge a book by its cover. As soon as I entered, I was greeted warmly by a young guy sitting behind his laptop. The interior is rather quirky and looks very cosy and lived in. A small elevator took me up to my room (room 6), which was very nice and airy with a small balcony.
The location was quite good in the real heart of Istanbul and very close to the main shopping street. The tourist area with The Blue Mosque is a good 55 mins walk away, and do bear in mind that on the way back to the hotel, there is quite a steep hill to climb.
I had a problem getting the air conditioning working in my room and messaged the hotel through WhatsApp, and the guy dealt it with it very well and efficiently. In fact I was very impressed with the service.
There is a lovely terrace at the top of the hotel where you're allowed to bring up your own drinks and food and sit and admire the sunset.
Breakfast was excellent. Your own platter of cold meats, cheese, olives and bread brought to your table followed by a freshly cooked pan of scrambled eggs with potatoes and some pastries all washed down with coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. A very substantial breakfast.
The only letdown was the cat, which constantly tried to jump up onto my breakfast table and eat my food! Cats really should not be allowed on the tables.
Overall though it was a very...
Read moreThis is my second visit to Turkey and first to Istanbul, probably the biggest city I’ve been to yet. It’s vast and we have barely scratched the surface. |Our flight was great, then we got a taxi from the airport. OMG drivers here are crazy!! The hotel staff did warn us and offered to help before we even arrived in the country. We had great communication with them and nothing has been a trouble to whoever is working here. ||Our room (9) is at the top with great views from the communal balcony opposite. The room is comfortable, air conditioned and the shower is lovely. The TV didn’t work, but who wants TV! There are books to read in the room and our beds (two singles - can be a double) were comfortable. ||The street outside is just a pavement above an underpass, so drop off point is just a short walk away. There is a Hammas just up the road and the hotel is seconds away from so many options to eat, drink, mingle and meander the lanes. It’s 20 mins down to the waterfront in one direction and Taksim Square the other. ||Breakfast included was delicious. Served to us in the reception area and in the company of the house cats, who try their hardest to convince you that it’s customary to feed them too. So sweet. In fact, I’ve never been to such a loving and caring city for the many cats out on the streets. ||Peradays is lovely welcoming place and so...
Read moreThis was an incredible discovery. A charming boutique hotel with a friendly, relaxed vibe that is such a relief in Istanbul. The owners, Murat and Bora, make you feel like family. The best personal service I experienced in Turkey.
The property is in a renovated building that once belonged to an Italian who was a tailor to the Sultan. That must be why this hotel was a perfect fit. Bespoke 100% and the rooms are wonderful. Nice, understated decoration, high-ceilings and in my case a loft bedroom that was fabulous. The open concept bathroom was very romantic. Murat warmly received my companion who arrived after me and made him feel most welcome.
No sooner than it started to rain, small umbrellas appeared in reception for the guests. Breakfast was included but I had to leave early for the airport but even so Murat promised coffee. Nothing could be improved at this property and the discreet yet always at hand presence of the owners was comforting.
The location is excellent. Close to both the high energy of Taksim Square and the trendy gentrified air of Galata. Metro and local buses nearby as are restaurants and many attractions.
This was my best hotel discovery in Turkey and I highly recommend it for your next visit...
