This was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. I booked it through Booking.com after reading some Google reviews, and even informed the hotel receptionist in advance that we would be arriving late (around 2 AM).
Upon our arrival, we picked up the keys from the receptionist and took the elevator to the second floor. The moment we entered the room, we were shocked. The room was incredibly small, barely enough space to move around. It was full of mold, even on the bedroom door. The toilet was in terrible condition – broken seats, water leaks, stained closet, and dirty, unhygienic tiles.
We had specifically booked a room with a balcony, but when I opened the door, it was yet another disappointment. The so-called "balcony" was nothing more than a tiny space, barely enough for one person to stand. It seemed like it was there just to deceive customers into thinking they could relax outside. Absolutely appalling.
There’s no better way to describe this hotel: it’s a complete disaster.
Don’t be fooled by the positive reviews. After complaining and arguing with the staff for 1-2 hours (they didn’t speak English, so we had to rely on Google Translate), I finally managed to get my money back and left at around 3:30 AM. Fortunately, I found another hotel nearby.
It was an absolute nightmare.
I wasn't able to take any photos or videos at the time, so some people may doubt my experience, but I urge you not to stay here. If you do decide to, at least check the rooms before booking. And to those who left positive reviews, please stop misleading others. Let them find a better...
Read moreI had the pleasure of staying at the Lion Hotel in Istanbul, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and kindness that truly set the tone for my entire stay.
The staff at the Lion Hotel went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. They were always ready to assist with any request and did so with genuine smiles. Their hospitality was second to none, making me feel like a valued guest throughout my visit.
The hotel itself is a lovely place, with beautifully decorated terrace that exude comfort and elegance. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities was remarkable. The cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities were also top-notch, which added to the overall pleasant atmosphere.
One of the standout features of the Lion Hotel is its convenient location, allowing easy access to many of Istanbul's attractions and dining options. Whether I was exploring the historic sites or enjoying a meal at a nearby restaurant, I always felt that I was in the heart of the city.
In summary, my stay at the Lion Hotel in Istanbul was a delightful experience that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting this magnificent city. Their kindness, impeccable service, and the lovely ambiance make it a clear 5-star establishment in my book. I look forward to returning...
Read moreFirst of all I want to start off my saying that the location is very good. It’s located in the old city near the Kumkapi tram station, just a short ride away from the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. The price was also very affordable, especially considering its great location. However, the rooms were not the cleanest. The bathroom especially was just simply not very clean. The extra blankets were dirty and all that was covering the mattress was a normal sheet that often slid around when you were lying on it. Often during the night I would wake up lying on nothing but the bare mattress. There were no fitted sheets.
If you need access to consistent, strong WiFi you may want to look elsewhere. We were only staying in Istanbul 3 days, so most of the day we were out around the city, but when we returned in the evening the WiFi was spotty to non existent.
The owner was nice. He let us store our luggage in the hotel before our room was ready the day we arrived.
Overall this hotel is good if you want an affordable lodging option that is near all the main attractions and sites of Istanbul, but...
