I stayed at Mr. Bird Hotel for 4 nights in April, the hotel location is excellent as I'm used to stay nearby in Sirkeci area and I had visited many hotels around. The hotel reviews made my expectations high, especially that the rate per night (60 Euros) is higher than average in this area. However, my experience had shown that the hotel is over rated.||The hotel is boutique family owned contains 12 rooms only; I had a room on 6th floor at the back of the hotel where you have a view of the back of adjacent hotels and plenty of garbage on the roofs. I was surprised that the room is very small than pictures, it does not even contain a desk nor a single chair, just the bed in the mid of the room and a small cupboard which contains the fridge on the side. ||The toilette is a real problem as it is too small that you can not sit on the base easily, also the lighting in the toilette and the room is very bad that makes it hard to see after darkness.||The breakfast has good varieties but don't expect too much as it only has 12 guests, I also noticed that they put very few quantities of food which makes it embarrassing when there are many guests having breakfast, they do a refill but it definitely takes time.||I would not recommend the hotel for others and would suggest cheaper...
Read moreFor a small hotel of 12 rooms, they did an amazing, amazing job. For tourists looking for a place just to sleep, please look no more. Room was clean, it was enough for 2 people. They have safe deposit box and slippers in the room. The only downside is that the blanket is not thick, however I could adjust the fan of the AC. I was traveling alone and the area was busy with food stalls and little shops, hence it is safe. Bathroom was clean, even had the shower gel, shampoo and other amenities. Location is superb. Close proximity to Sirkeci metro station (1min), and you can still walk to Eminonu metro or ferry station (3-5min max). The hotel is managed by a family & their friends. I saw 1 lady in charge of preparing the breakfast (yes it is complimentary), 1 guy for cleaning and serving the breakfast, 1 receptionist, and on check-out I met one of the owners, Mr. Serkand. He is the sweetest. Fluent english, even helped me to look for Turkish Bath places and recommendation for my trip in Izmir. I would 100% stay there again when I come back to Istanbul. And I would really recommend everyone who's looking for a budget friendly hotel with the best value...

Surrounded by plenty of restaurants and shops, you will definitely return to this hotel. Hagia Sophia is just a 10-minute walk away, as are the Blue Mosque, Cistern, Spice Bazaar or New Mosque.
