Portions were excessively huge but with a catch. I ordered a fish dish which cost 1,300 turkish lira alone when I am sure that it said a different price on the menu (340 lira). The problem here is that we got ripped off on this and he changed the prices on that menu as he was getting the bill for it as we did query why it is 1300 and not 340 which we picked because of the price (thought it was a good deal). Do not come here if you are a foreigner looking for something quick and cheap. Do not go to a place that has on the menu "ask price" or any blank price slots (they literally make up the price based on what you look like/where you are from). A woman behind us also ordered champagne and one of the younger waiters shook up the bottle and sprayed it everywhere which went onto my clothes and there was no apology at all and all of her champagne was practically gone! (The staff were just laughing) So he fetched her another bottle as she complained. They will ask if you want turkish delight or tea, but don't trust this as they will likely charge you an arm for it. Absolute rip off. This restaurant needs to learn the basics of customer service....
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were searching for a place to dine in Sirkeci after a long day of visiting all the historical sites in Istanbul and stumbled upon this great restaurant. It had favorable reviews so we decided to give it a go. We had a mixed grill and a sliced sarma kebab, glass of wine and draught beer. Everything was tasty and well prepared while the portions were on the larger side. The place is clean and well maintained, tastefully decorated with seating outside as well. The staff understands and speaks english and they were caring for all our needs and wants. At the end, we got baklava and rakija (tea for the girlfriend) on the house. The bill was correct with everything we ordered and with the pricing which was stated on the menu. If you are passing by, try these guys out, it's a nice location on a more subdued street with great food and...
Read moreFirst, the waiters were very pushy and tried to upsell dishes which we said we didn’t like. Octopus/fishes were over cooked. The portions were small. The taste was salty and spicy overall. Some people might like it. Secondly, the waiter lied about service fee on the bill and claimed it was tax, and, asked us for tips. So we ended up with 25% tips for bad service and mediocre food. With the price we paid, we had eaten at much better restaurants in the area. Another thing is the restaurant has a mediocre rating with total 24 feedbacks and 4.0 on TripAdvisor. Should have checked the rating on TripAdvisor too. Don’t trust Google rating alone. As other reviewers wrote the waiters solicited for reviews on the spot. I guess some guests were too kind or were afraid of bad service or food...
