Criminal house. Never use here even though it's cheapest. They steal from foreign travelers, everything. It was my first night in Kiev, but it ruined everything. At first night I stayed there, my weist bag was picked and stolen of many valuables including camera and tablet. According to locals who live and run same kind of hostel nearby, the theft is usual and the manager as well does the stealing cooperating other local stayers. Much more dangerous than staying outside. The guy who stays there for months and tall and thin from Odessa show me the knife telling me even lockers we can open easilly with it. Also my many foods were stolen as well easilly. The house exists to steal from guests mainly from foreigners. No security exists. Must be arrested. This hostel is actually the same with one step independence square hostel. Additionally, the management of this hostel looks like prostitute: rude, easy to deceive, never manage around guest They charged me without ecplaining beforehand, and never responsible about what happens in the accomodation only saying I don't know it's your responsible disguiding they can't speak English. And I must say the photo of this place is almost fake.
After having this incident I went to the police nearby and got report and they are still investigating. If you want to see the report from the police of course I can show you.
Now I can guess the owner has been changed since a few years ago because the furnitures and management inside are completely defferent as far as I see the pics of former one. Totally messy and no passion to run are the current state. Don't go closer now...
Read moreThis establishment is run as a hobby rather than a serious business.||I don't much from a hostel, but I expect to get a room after making a booking. I expect to find it at the given address rather than around the corner in a grimy yard. And I expect to find a member of staff somewhere on the premises.||After I'd been waiting around for half an hour or so, a resident (who'd been left waiting for hours when she arrived) told me there was a phone number posted on the wall - in the kitchen area (brilliant, hey?) I called this, and only an hour later someone arrived, looking put out at having to do her job. She examined my booking.com documents and briskly told me no room was available, in a tone that implied that was the end of the matter. After a little calm but firm insistence, I got her to arrange me a place nearby, the City Center hostel, which she said was owned by the same organisation. Once there, everything was fine.||When I arrived home a few days later, I received a notification from booking.com that Golden Gates had registered a no-show claim...
Read moreWe booked a two night stay in a room for 2 with two beds, but when we showed up the lady didn't seem to have her administration in order. She placed other guests in 'our' room. Luckily she had one room available still. When she opened that door I was disgusted with the sight of fluid stains on the sheets, beds and pillows. I assumed she was going to get new clean stuff, but nope! We got a bunch of very old sheets that she said were clean. When I made up my bed however I saw bloodstains in them... awfully disgusting! She asked us to pay straight away which was fine to me, but when we came back there the second day she wanted us to pay again... I'm used to pay for hotels in one go, so this was no nice surprise. Add to this a disgusting bathroom, floors that are so dirty you don't dare to walk in barefoot and the image is complete. Let's all boycott this place. This place is unworthy of the beauty that Kiev really does...
