I've spent 5 nights at Taurus City Hotel. I'm usually staying with chain hotels but due to lack of their availability in Lviv, I went for independent option. I was pleasantly surprised that hotel is run very well service-wise with great attention to detail. Room was compact but very nice and pleasant to be in. Bed was super-comfortable. ||||It would be excellent stay except... I could not sleep properly. You see, noise insulation of the room is terrible - almost non existent. To make this worse, I got room on the first floor right next to the elevator. First two nights were most terrible with some British group staying at the hotel having superloud conversations in hotel corridors. When they finally left, it got better but I could still hear everything - I mean, things like phone ringing at reception, people going to their room... to make it worse, their elevator makes loud annoying beeping sound after you press button to call it all the time until the elevator arrives, so that was yet another loud and very annoying sound in the room.||||This had quite an impact on quality of my sleep, something that is most important thing when it comes to choosing hotel.||||To wrap it up, this place has a good potential. It's really nice hotel that is so well-managed. But my stay was ruined by noise and I can't really recommend it for...
Read moreI do not recommend to come in cold weather. Were in two rooms, standard and standard+ for 5 nights. While more guests drove in and the temperature outside dropped, hot water disappeared. It appeared sporadically barely warm, but it was impossible to take a shower for 3 days of stay until the departure. moreover, there was no hot water in both rooms, and other guests complained as well. On the third day I also informed the reception desk, but instead of apologies and compensation, I was accused of having to say it right away on the first day, although the hotel should provide such basic things without reminders, especially since the problem was in many of rooms. Despite the fact that the water was at the time of the conversation, it disappeared again in the morning.
Service on the departurr is limping too, in particular, a taxi to the airport cost 2.5 more than uber. I also asked us to postpone the departure of the taxi for half an hour, an hour before the departure, which they said they would do at the reception, but later it turned out that there was an extra charge for waiting, which I was not warned about.
As for the other components, the rooms are clean, the...
Read moreCould be very good hotel, however it has few issues. One is very easy solvable, they need to replace their lighting bulbs to the newer version of warm LEDs, as the older cold white LEDs makes all the place feel cold and unwelcome. The housekeeping is a bit funny, but everything is clean. But there is the one problem, which is very difficult to solve, there's no sound insulation whatsoever. Some rooms are probably different to the other, but it can be a bit of challenge to sleep. Other than that it's very good, breakfast is plenty and nice, of course there is no English breakfast, but there's plenty of meats, good coffee very nice crepes with cottage cheese. I have to compliment restaurant staff, all very young people trying hard. They still lack the standards of the European service, but they very helpful, honest and not in any way rude as someone might be thinking, they simply don't have the training to smile to your face even if they are exhausted, scared, or hate everything. I believe things will improve and it will be excellent...
