It's a grand looking hotel located 10-minute walking distance from the Mall of Emirates. Many of the restaurants and supermarkets are close by. The staff and the service was excellent. We stayed there two weeks for vacations as a couple. I think it will be equally good for families. We were given a complimentary room upgrade. The room was spacious. The room service cleaned and updated the room every day. The front office staff and the room service staff were excellent and prompt. And here are a few points of concern. 1. The shower in Room 706 was at an angle where no matter how much you try to keep the water in, the water will always leak on the floor through the curtain, making it wet every day. 2. There was no electrical outlets on either side of the bed. So, for overnight charging of your cellphone and to answer calls, you have to get up and go to the desk or the vanity in the room to answer it. The engineering department helped us with an extension cord which we had to run through the other side of the room to charge our phones. 3. The room was mostly hot. The A/C was fixed at 18 degree and could not get any cooler. We had to use bed sheets for two weeks instead of blankets at night. 4. There was a smell of humidity throughout the hotel. It must be due to the A/C set at a higher temperature thought the hotel. I did not notice separate smoking or non-smoking rooms. That could also be a reason. Overall, it was a good experience and I definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the treatment I received during my recent experience at your hotel. I have been a loyal guest for over 8 years, staying long-term and always appreciating the comfort and service. However, on Saturday, I had a very upsetting encounter. A friend came to visit me briefly, and within minutes, we were approached and told that each guest must present ID and pay 100 AED. While I understand the importance of hotel policies, the way this situation was handled was unacceptable. When I tried to clarify that they were only staying for about 30 minutes, I was met with rude and unprofessional behavior from the staff member in charge, Karim. Instead of listening or offering any courtesy, he simply said, "Pay or security will come and remove them." This aggressive and disrespectful attitude is not what I expect from a hotel I have trusted for so many years. This kind of behavior creates a very negative impression, not only of the staff but of the hotel’s values. I would never recommend this place to any of my friends or family after this experience. I sincerely hope you will take this feedback seriously and consider providing better customer service training to your team. No loyal guest should be made to feel unwelcome or threatened for simply having a short, respectful visit from a friend. Looking forward to your response and appropriate action.

The receptionist made me wait for more than 1 hour just to check in, and was not polite and service oriented at all. Once I checked in, the room was in a terrible condition, full of dust and mold, and stains all over the ceiling and walls. I requested to change my room and waited 20 minutes extra just for the bell boy to come. Even after changing my room, the new room was so so bad, had a very terrible smell inside the room and the drainage system of the bathroom is so poor and keep getting clogged and black stuff comes out of the drain. The toilet area is so unclean and disgusting! Such an awfully terrible condition of the bathroom! There was mold in the bathroom everywhere and smelled so bad! The phone doesn’t even work and when you call the receptionist they will not even answer the phone ! The phone was extremely dirty and old full of dust…..and the worst part is at night you cannot even sleep because there is a pub and the music is extremely very very loud and noisy. Even the morning you can hear loud weird sounds and noises everywhere, definitely not family friendly neither is it a quiet hotel. I ordered breakfast and the breakfast was good but apart from that everything is just 0 out of 10. Never visit this hotel, I had a very unpleasant and disgusting experience. They have no maintenance at alll, it just looks good from the exterior but once you enter you will feel so bad.

Me and my husband stayed for 1 night in this hotel. This is the worst hotel in dubai i think. I had a realy very bad experience here.In the reception one Mr Ramy was assisting us. For sure he need some class about the customer service. That much rude he was. He dont know to how to speek to a customer. Showing all his attitute towards the customer. When i enter in the reception nobody was assisiting me. All receptionist were busy. Everywhere receptionists will tell us to sit. Later they will assist us. Anyway Finally a man came to assist me. He was not the receptionist. I think he was the person who takes the luggages to room. I have given the ID and my phone to check the detailes. When he was checking i went to the wash room. When i came back that person was not there and the receptionists Mr Ramy and Ms alas both dont know about my mobile. Both were not ready to check. Many times i told i have given to a person here in the receptionFinally alaa was ready to check and i got my mobile back. given all the detailes and id again. LWithout doing my resgistration she was continuosly talking in phone. Its not from a customer for sure. After that MR RAMY Assisted me. How a rude superviser will talk to his employee like that way he was speakimg to me. Somebody should teach him about the body languages he has to follow when he speaks to a customer. The wash room inside the room was so dirty. I have added the pics. Also the wash room was blocked. So i tried to call the reception after many trials the recption was not giving any rply. So i called the operator number. She send the house keeping staff. House keeping staff came and rang the calling bell once next second he knocked the door third second he rang the bell again. I told him wait i am coming. Because i was on the other end of the room. I have to reach to the door. When i just finished telling i am coming and before i reach to the door the housekeeping staff a guy opened the door.I have stayed in many hotels in uae. But this is the first time for me like this. When i asked him regarding this he told me this is our rule after knocking three times we can open the door. What nonsence answer is this. I told him that you have to give some time in between these three knocks. He just finished 3 knocks in 3 seconds and opend the door. How can we take a room in this hotel. Anybody can come anytime inside. Really i wanted to call the police. But the staff said sorry many times. I did not do that. I dont want to take any action against him because he was following his rules. But This should not happen again. Anyway the stay was really a nightmare for me. Actually i dont want to give any negative reply to anyone. But when i think about the attitude of mr ramy and the dirty washroom i am...

I give 3 stars to the hotel because it's really got quite luxurious look for the price (it's a bit old, it needs a refurbishing, but it's okay for the price). I've been there in 2014-2015-2017, and my experience was very nice. However, I came back now (November 2024) and I'm so disappointed. The worst is the RECEPTION STAFF, most of them are very unprofessional and rude individuals. After order room service at their restaurant for dinner the first two days, the third we brought some food from outside and we asked for TWO FORKS, but they refused. Then, we went to the restaurant to ask for the forks, but they refused too. The last night at the hotel, we asked at Reception for a PACKAGE (a friend left for me) but the receptionist seemed to be very confused and told us "someone will bring it to your room later". It was late and it was our last night at the hotel, leaving early next morning, so I wanted to collect my package. We had to insist, and finally receptionist (in a very bad mood) took 1 minute to give us the package... The ROOM SERVICE is also awful. They forget to leave basic stuff like TOWELS and slippers. We had to call the housekeeper in many occasions for the towels on arrival to the room at the end of the day, and wait long time for them to bring the towels or whatever they forgot this day. Third point to highlight is the NIGHT CLUB in the ground floor: First, if you come with family, it's not nice for your children to see such an "atmosphere", a place targeted for men not hidden at all, and secondly, the noise in the middle of the night, every night, is scandalous (and we were in the 6th floor!). BREAKFAST is decent, but you need a shower and change your clothes after, as there's not enough VENTILATION SYSTEM in the dinning room so, you smell as you were cooking 4 hours in a closed kitchen after 10 minutes there. It's a shame, this is not the memory I had of the hotel from my other stays, it got worse with the years, and they lost a client for sure. Overall, an unpleasant experience because the "luxuriant" feeling of the building doesn't match the unprofessional service and staff and the poor atmosphere of the ground floor night club La Casa, which also ruins completely the experience. Last time at the Grand Excelsior,...

My experience at the Grand Excelsior Hotel Al Barsha was nothing short of disappointing. From check-in to check-out, the staff repeatedly made promises they didn’t keep and blamed us for issues they failed to address.

We booked two rooms and checked in on October 26 at 11:20 PM. During the reservation, I requested non-smoking rooms close to each other if possible. At the front desk, Ramy assured us that while this wasn't available immediately, he would arrange it the following day. He gave us rooms on the first floor, where noise from the pub was overwhelming. After checking in, we went out for dinner, but upon returning, we realized the guests in suite 107 were blasting music at a volume that made it impossible for our children to sleep. Despite my complaint to the front desk, the noise didn’t subside until 3 AM.

The next day, I requested again to change our rooms to non-smoking and closer if possible. Ramy, the same person who made promises the previous night, now refused, after a long conversation. Finally, at 4 PM, we began moving rooms. While we were in the hallway with our five toddlers, they naturally laughed and made some noise, when suddenly, another guest began banging on our door. I stepped out, apologized, and explained that they were just young children, but the guest responded rudely. When I mentioned that he could report any concerns to the front desk, he continued being aggressive.

Later, I approached the front desk to discuss this incident with Ramy, who shockingly started blaming me, citing complaints about us from the previous night. I reminded him that we had checked in late and even reported noise disturbances ourselves, but he continued to accuse me, even threatening to call the police if I "fought with other guests." I suggested he check the security cameras to verify who was actually misbehaving, but he dismissed this and continued with threats.

I’ve traveled to over 12 countries, but this was, by far, the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The management's lack of professionalism and disregard for guests' concerns is astonishing. If you're traveling with family, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. We cut our stay short and moved to another hotel for the remaining 10 days...
