This hotel is joint with Brentwood, under OYO brand. It keeps changing it's name. We didn't get quadruple room we ordered, we were told there is an issue with quadruple rooms. One of the two double rooms we were given instead was very cramped, one wall was dirty, bathroom floor had no grout, door was damaged and there was no bin in the bathroom. Carpets were unvacuumed. Furniture was miss matched. Bedding and linen, although smelling of bleach, were clean. Room door had a security chain but security was poor as anyone off the street could have wondered in and walked unchallenged right to the door of any room. We were supposed to have late check out of 12pm but the codes to both rooms stopped working after 10am. We weren't given any WiFi details. We asked for extra duvets in advance and were told it shouldn't be a problem and to ask reception. The first receptionist could bring extra duvets at the time we would be out so instead he said he'll leave them at the reception for us. When we came back from the event and asked about duvets, the second receptionist wasn't told about it and there were no duvets. He claimed the hotel is fully booked so there were no spare duvets, once pressed he then said he didn't have keys to the linen cupboard and pressed again he came back with one duvet without a cover. We refused it. Although parking was included in the booking, I had to let the receptionist know as the car park is run by...

Read moreBooked this as a cheapish, convenient option without knowing that this hotel is the same as the OYO Brentwood. Had I known and read the relevant TripAdvisor reviews, I probably wouldn’t have booked, but . . . ||The location is convenient for the bus and railway stations (although the shortest walking route involves a rather daunting flight of 70+ steps), and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. My single room, reached via a bit of a labyrinth of corridors and stairways, was spacious. The fittings were basic and tired, but functional. The room had a rather musty smell, but, in contrast to many previous reviews, was clean. The sound-proofing wasn’t great, but not a major issue. Housekeeping is apparently available on request, but there was no notification to that effect. A buffet breakfast is available with continental and Scottish options – nothing special, but convenient. The staff were all helpful and efficient.||Overall, it met the ‘cheap and cheerful’ brief, but I probably wouldn’t go for...
