When I planned to come to Bath for the weekend, a birthday treat for my partner there were two reasons, the hot springs and this eatery. I discovered it 4/5 years ago when my brother was at uni here and have returned from the midlands at any opportunity, eagerly anticipating the day they release a recipe book! Purchased. Thank you. Service is always warm and attentive and even whilst they ensure to attend every need there is no feeling of them being overbearing, a delicate balance achieved. We had mushroom satay skewers and chickpea chips to start. The chips felt like the healthiest and tastiest surprise but the skewers were quickly addictive as well. We were cleared and mains arrived smoothly with just a few moments to take in the first experience. Tacos for him. Truly delicious, soft tacos, lots of flavour, texture and colour to take in and a beautiful salsa to accompany. I had a caesar salad, loaded with flavour and one I'm very glad is in the recipe book for me to pack up and take for lunch at work bath home. I was sorry the tumeric and ginger shot was out of stock but we had chari-tea instead and what a lovely brand. A bottled drink with only three ingredients, I love that the green rocket is supporting other businesses with healthy ethos. We were primarily served by a gentleman who when we spoke to him about allergies was sure to give us all the information we required. Once we realised we were probably going to have to compromise a little on having some soy (fortunately it is not life or death) we told him not to bother checking again but he did anyway. This was a lovely touch, we were not an inconvenience it felt but an adventure for him. Afterwards he asked how we felt after the food to be sure the experience was comfortable. Thank you to him personally and all the team that bring the experience together. We will be back whenever we...
Read moreA truly bizarre and dreadful experience.
Entered the cafe and instantly told to sit down and menus will be brought over. No waiting, very quick. Unfortunately that is the first and only time that will be the case.
Only 2 of us. Order a tea and a flavoured coffee. Tap water and the same food.
About 5/10 mins later the pot of tea comes. I can only imagine that the person who put the milk in the jug is rationing it as it was enough for 1 small cup of tea. If you like it milky probably 1/2 a small cup.
At least another 5 minutes later the coffee turns up looking ghastly. Just as coffee is about to be put to mouth the waitress comes back over to say they have forgot to put the flavour in. Away goes the coffee. It returns a few minutes later.
When the food arrives it is nicely presented. Wahey! Tastes bland with a strong aversion to seasoning.
As the water has not been brought over the waitress is again asked if we could please have some. Also could we have some more milk for the tea. The milk jug disappears and is never to be seen again. And of course the water never materialised. I never realised how very complicated it was to serve 2 glasses of water.
I would have assumed that the staff were busy, however the waitress had time to stop, check herself out in the mirror and adjust her hair several times. Oh and this mirror is in the middle of the main interior serving room.
The waitress I can only assume is offended by pleases, thank yous and manners in general.
I would have complained in person, however I doubt they care based off of the abysmal service.
So for those of you checking whether it's worth coming here, don't. Your time and money can be better spent pretty much...
Read moreWe used to like the Green Rocket, even though the service has always been slow and indifferent. Our last lunch there 2 weeks ago was very disappointing.
We waited for nearly 15 minutes after being seated, but nobody came to take our drinks order... My husband had to go and order drinks at the till. To their credit, they were brought to the table fairly quickly.
The potato gnocchi with roasted artichokes turned out to be 'garlic artichokes' - disgustingly, intensely garlicky. There was no mention of that on the menu. I left all the artichokes but the stink ruined the meal, and it meant I only had stodgy potato dumplings for my lunch. The presence of so much garlic could be a deal-breaker for anyone attending corporate meetings that day (or the following day).
I was kind and tolerant when giving feedback, and didn't ask for any money off the bill, but when we suggested they put 'garlic' artichokes on the menu as a heads-up to future customers, the young waitress seemed nonplussed. I don't believe our feedback was passed on to whoever writes the menus (which is all I wanted) as the menus haven't been changed. This was our wedding anniversary lunch, our 6th visit and probably our last for a long...
