Recently visited for a birthday meal. There was no accessibility information on the website so I had to email to find out more. I was told there was wheelchair access "through the patio". Perfect. On arrival, it turns out access through the patio means access onto the patio and not into the restaurant (so no chance of someone who can't do steps using the toilet!). Ridiculous given they'd purchased one portable ramp for the patio step but hadn't purchased one for the restaurant which was exactly the same shape and size (they had nailed the portable ramp so it couldn't be moved). Luckily the weather was lovely so we were happy to sit outside but they need to get a ramp so guests have a choice. So we didn't get off to the best start. The food was a bit hit and miss. The veggie options went down very well and were apparently delicious. Fish and chips were poor with chewy limp batter and slightly dry fish. Wine list is ridiculously overpriced too. All in all, not amazing and there's better...
Read moreBooked a dome for a 50th birthday six adults and two young children. Firstly the price was fine for the quality of the food. We hadn't realised that the menu was a completely fixed menu and served as sharing plates. We probably wouldn't have booked if we had realised. As it was we ordered for seven, with the children to share one Starter - fishcakes, charcuterie and bread. The vegan/vegetarian option was, the bread. SIX servings were brought out. Main - Roast beef + belly pork or roast beef + roast butternut squash. Vegan/vegetarian option, errr, don't have the beef. Butternut squash was very dry too. Again only six servings although seven of toasties and yorkies. Both shortages were mentioned to waitress when checking everything was ok. No apology or concession on the bill. Dessert - Disappointingly small, getting eight portions didn't really make up for it. Overall I can't legitimately give more...
Read moreWe booked afternoon tea at The Bird Bath to round off our day trip to the Christmas market, having read about the hotel on the VisitBath website. I booked by phone and Harmony couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly so I was optimistic it would be a lovely experience. We were not disappointed! A warm welcome and a smile from the moment we arrived. The restaurant is downstairs and was beautifully decorated for Christmas; baubles everywhere amongst the already very cool decor. Friendly and efficient staff looked after us. Champagne, nice choice of beverage and the most beautiful selection of food on a birdcage tiered stand. Fresh sandwiches with tasty fillings for both veggie and meat eaters. The most amazingly light and tasty scones with jam and clotted cream and outstanding pastries. Really superb value at £40 per person with a refill of tea and a glass of champagne. Would...
