The Guildhall Market is a hidden gem. Slightly off the main shopping area, and somewhat hidden behind the Guildhall, it is home to a surprising variety of small shops, mainly owner operated. These include a wonderful hardware store, a pet shop, two selling unique jewellery items, one selling pashminas and exotic fabrics, a couple of cafes, a sweet shop, a second hand bookshop, a haberdashers, a barber , and a lovely shop selling soap, incense, hand-made cosmetic products and locally-made art glass.
The owners and staff are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products, but also about Bath and the local area. Read moreBath Guildhall Market is a beautiful little shopping area we visited on our daytrip to Bath, EXCEPT for the absolutely obnoxious Karen in the front entrance (scarf seller) who was very rude when we asked for some directions. I asked her if there were any public toilets nearby & before I'd even finished my sentence I was met with a resounding "NOOOOOOOOO!!" after which she walked away with barely so much as a glance. I looked at my partner with some amazement, went to walk into the market again, and she returned with "there are toilets in Nero's GO IN THERE!" & I was left a little flabbergasted as to how someone could be so rude to a complete stranger. There's a little café which serves good value food. Used a couple times.
