We booked a twin double bed room for two nights for £470. There was two kids included in the booking.
On day one when we arrived in the hotel, we realised there was a lot of MIDGES in the room and that the sliding bathroom door doesn’t open and close properly - as it was unhinged. we called the reception, which was a man, to make him aware about the MIDGES and the broken door.
He came to the room with a broom to “sweep” them outside the window. Before even fixing the bathroom door, the receptionist said “it’s fine, it’s working” I told him “no, it’s not, you try it” as he began to open and close the bathroom door, he had difficulties opening and closing the door. If a man is struggling to open the door, how does he expect kids and myself (who suffers from joint pain) to open and close the door?
After he struggled with the door, he rudely and abruptly said “do you want me to, process refund and you go.” I responded “I can’t tell you the answer now, as I need to look for other accommodations, I can’t tell you now whether I want to leave or not, especially because it is late and last minute” and he responded “no, you need to tell me now” and he was constantly saying “you need to tell me now” he left the room abruptly.
After he had left, I spent the next hour killing the midges, as much as possible. During the night at 3am, one of the little ones woke up complaining that they feel itchy and couldn’t get back to sleep. I thought nothing of it, but the following day I realised it was related to the midges.
Night two, we realised their was A LOT midges and other insects all over the ceiling. I tried to contact the host numerous times and booking.com did with no avail. Eventually after an hour and a half we got through to the host over the phone. The host was rude and said there’s nothing he can do, and continued to talk over and raise his voice over the phone. The two kids were in distress after the phone call.
We had to eventually book another hotel at 1am in the morning.
I would not recommend staying here. I’ll be reporting this to trading standards and I’ll be taking civil action, if I do not receive compensation for booking...

Read moreUpon arrival a very warm welcome was given by Leo. He explained the conditions of the rooms with covid there would be no cleaning during or three day break which was fine, and that If we needed anything to just ask. Any rubbish we could bring down or leave on the landing. Any extra towels we could just request.
Arrival into the room up the staircase. (Couldn’t wait to try when drunk)
The room was quite small but enough for what we needed (a base to sleep) GREAT VIEW of the seafront great for New Years Eve.
Bed was clean and comfortable, the floor leans slightly which is great when you have had a night out!
Great experience, the first night was a little cold and we asked Leo to look at the heating and he definitely did, it was like a sauna. But all good.
Will return if back...
