Love this place. Especially, for sunsets. Have come for more than a decade and very often.
After covid an entrance fee of £1 per person is required during peak times and for non residents. Local residents can get a local residents card and get free entrance at all times.
Kids scooters and bikes are not allowed on the pier.
There are free deck chairs and benches all the way to the end of the pier to where the rides are. Perfect for anytime of the day and a picnic. Three seperate arcades, food kiosks lined all down the pier, soft play at end of pier next to the rides and a mix of rides right at the end.
Most rides verge over the pier which makes it more of a thrill overlooking the sea when on the ride. Crazy Mouse, Turbo Coaster, Carousel, Helter Skelter is a fun ride and does exactly that. Beware Helter Skelter the metal finish at top of ride needs refining so small fingers can get caught if not careful. Needs to be fixed. The sides are low on the slide down so it's quite thrilling when right next to the sea. At the upper parts it could really do with some safety netting as it's a ride for smaller children too. The Trampolines are always popular with all the kids but adults too. Dodgems is really Bumper cars in disguise. So, you have been forewarned! I would absolutely avoid letting kids on when there are teenagers present because they are out to smash into everyone as hard as possible and this can cause injuries! The pier's signage of corporate responsibility should really state and forewarn riders on this particular ride as I cannot imagine how they have not been sued previously with all the teenagers coming in peak season and being silly. Horror Hotel and Galaxia is fun and good for children and not too scary. Waltzers and Twister goes round and round. So, if you like the thought of being spun around like in a washing machine then this will make your day.
They do have an annual pass at an OK reasonable price however throughout the year they are generally quite quiet so it begs belief that they don't do any better offers out of summer peak season. They do the occasional £10 for 10 rides and used to have 2 for 1 tickets for local residents on certain days however, it is still quiet out of season. Both weekdays and weekends can be rather quiet if not in the summer period. Even towards the end of the summer eg August it can get quiet too which is surprising. It's a shame as its a pleasant pier and has lots to offer.
The arcades are fun and varied and family friendly. Three seperate arcade sections. First one is the most popular nearest the entrance and exit and closes the latest. However, they do still have leaks in the roof which have not been fixed for years. So when it rains you do get a little wet lol. The good side is that if you're in a middle of a game then they reimburse you with free tickets 😜.
The soft play is big enough and has a baby infant section seperate to the kids section. Well padded and generally clean. Adults can go through with younger kids too. Several slides, zip wire, lots of sensory parts and lots of climbing. A great place for kids to work off their energy. Highly visible at all sides and attendants at entrance and exit at all times. Tables and chairs inside soft play for parents. Free cold water from water dispenser and small coffee shop at front.
There are toilets at each section and are generally well maintained. At the end of the pier where the restaurant and bar is there is also a big screen that shows matches for various sports. Can be viewed by paid diners and non alike as overlooks out to the left side of the pier and rides.
Food served at kioks are generally well made however as done freshly there is usually a wait. Sweet and savoury crepes, sweets and candy floss, fish and chips, doughnuts and ice cream. Prices can be a little cheaper and then more people would buy.
The only thing is that reception is not great at the end of the pier otherwise, I'd be here more often working whilst my child goes crazy. The perfect place for...

Read moreLooking rather sad these days, bit grubby. It's £2 for an adult and £1 for a child to now enter which is a bit steep I feel. 50p each or children free would be more acceptable bearing in mind there is nothing to do that's free on the pier, in fact everything is pretty expensive!Let's hope this money is put towards the upkeep as it needs a face-lift. It had the least amount of people walking around that I've ever seen, maybe due to the entry fee or the rain that day. The seagulls constantly attacking and swooping for food is also a put off. We used to drive down from surrey with the children after school, get a pancake, have a walk along the pier, spend 50p in the arcade and be home in time for the children's bedtime. Can't imagine anyone doing that now, extortionate parking fees, entry fees and inflated arcade prices have made a simple treat out of the question. I'll not be returning...
