We arrived to find the jacuzzi room we booked was given to someone else and we were given a much lesser room but charged the same price. I’ve also shared just a few photos of our horrendous experience with this grossly overpriced hotel. I’ll keep it brief but within ten minutes of entering this hotel we went to shower to find the drain completely clogged, mold in many corners of the shower and the shower door gasket torn allowing water to escape onto the multiple cracked tiled floor. Making things worse was the sink was also completely clogged. When we called it in to get it serviced, hotel CHEF of all people came up to clear it with a used toilet plunger - in the sink we were to brush our teeth and shave in. No sanitizer used. The sampling of food offerings for breakfast is shown. Rotten apples and spoiled ham were plentiful. The breakfast offering was so poor we opted to pay for a hot breakfast. The toast arrived cold and when we asked the hostess for fresh toast to spread butter on she kindly told us she didn’t do it and rolled her eyes. We brought all of these experiences to the manager who graciously said they were sorry and would not credit us at all for the night we paid for but would discount a second night if we would like. I would rather have slept in our rental car than spend the $500 on this hotel. Truly awful.
3 week Update: After the hotel manager stated he completely agrees that we should receive a full refund for our experiences he was powerless to grant it without the owners blessing. He stated that I would need to speak with owner (Sarah) today personally as he has explained to her what transpired and she was unwilling to do anything other than refund breakfast that we didn’t eat due to the poor quality and the room difference of 60 pounds since the jacuzzi room we booked was given to someone else and they gave us a much less room with the mold on the bathroom walls and clogged drains. Sarah, the Hotel owner, was in a meeting when I called and knew I was calling back in 30 minutes after it was over. Sarah told the hotel manager after her meeting that she was leaving after her meeting, refused to have a discussion with me, and was unwilling to listen to our terrible experience. If that doesn’t highlight the level of “We only want our guests money and do not care about your experience” I don’t know what does. We had the most incredible week in Scotland and traveled almost 800 miles. Each stay was perfect minus this hotel. Sarah should be ashamed of her behavior and the all the photos of the mold, rotted food and the gentleman plunging our sink with a soiled toilet plunger will all be shared with the Highland Council this afternoon. Perhaps Sarah will be more responsive to their investigation. I hope this honest review helps...

Read moreI will start from the few good qualities of this establishment: The location is relatively good as the heart of Inverness is a mere 10 minute walk from it. Additionally, Mary on the front desk was an amazing hostess that really took her time to explain everything we wanted to know.
On to the reasons why the hotel did not live up to the hospitality standards of Scotland - at least considering similar budget, 2-3-4 star hotels:
We paid £200 for a double room for 2 nights and were shown to a standard room with a 140x200 cm mattress, and the more we observed during the first night, the more instances of bad cleaning we identified: dirty carpet with marks, uncleaned bed bottom (in the photo you can see a hanger and a prescription manual), dust on every glass surface, uncleaned mirrors, and pieces of spider web on the wall. Upon disclosing these, we were informed that the next cleaning would remediate these shortcomings. The cleaning crew came to the room, opened a window for some fresh air and cleaned only 1 mirror, without making the bed, changing the towels, or fixing any of the previous matters.
Additionally, during the first night, we used the bathtub - which was non functional - and filled it with water up until the appropriate level, and after about 30 minutes the evening clerk knocked on the door asking whether we have overfilled the tub, as there was a “massive leak on the room below and” he “had to move the guests to another room”. You can sense the establishment is quite old fashioned from the creaking on every floor, but it appears that it is also ill maintained when it comes to plumbing as well, as even our overfilling of the tub should never equate to pipes leaking water to actual rooms. Mind you, he did not apologise about upsetting us and his tone made us feel like we were getting blamed for inconveniencing other guests.
We had to cut short our 3 night stay to just 2, and were it possible to leave on the spot, we would have, but the 24 hour cancellation policy meant we would have to endure the 2nd night with dust on the surfaces and spider web on the walls.
All of the photos are unedited from a...
