Upon arrival my partner and I were greeted by the staff while we were still unpacking the car. Needless to say that we were taken care of before we had even stepped through the door. From the outset it was obvious that that the owners were highly passionate about providing an unsurpassable level of service. It was obvious that such passion in the care and attention paid to guests was honest. This is not to say that the level of attention paid to was overbearing. Indeed, our hosts appeared to appreciate that travellers and tourists often want their holiday to begin as soon as possible and not spend a great deal of time having the rules of a guest house laid out. Therefore, we were given a warm introduction, had our luggage taken to our room, and had only the most fundamental of information explained to us. Overall, service was 10/10
We stayed in the penthouse suite. My partner did not hesitate to mention that the bed was the most comfortable she had ever been lucky enough to witness. The room and all of its furniture and utilities were spotless. There was not one thing we would have chosen to change regarding the room. It really is worth staying in the penthouse, if only to appreciate the unhindered view across the harbour. There was more than enough storage space for all of our belongings. The interior decoration of the suite was ideal in its white tones.
A wide range of breakfast options were available, limited only by one's own appetite. The breakfast specials were particularly delightful. I for one enjoyed the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on an english muffin, while my partner enjoyed mushrooms on toast.
Overall, what we enjoyed best was how approachable the staff seemed and how friendly and warm they were towards guests. Also, the room was without fault whatsoever.
If you can, the penthouse is quite simply the...
Read moreWe had one night in Highcliffe (room 5) - lovely view across the water, very comfortable bed and super ensuite with shower; everything provided was really lovely quality and much appreciated (tea/coffee/bathroom robes/towels and soap/shampoo/conditioner). Location was just right for us as we wanted something near Gylly beach and the town - free parking too so we could just leave the car and walk . There is plenty of choice of food in town (and the beach!) so we brought some food back in the evening and were able to eat this in the beautiful dining room, plates and cutlery were available which was a lovely touch. Parking was free and we managed to get one of the spots for large car, but when car park full it might be trickier to negotiate! Excellent communication from owners before and during stay which answered most questions and they had plenty of ways to contact them during stay if needed, we liked the self...
Read more"Contemporary Bed and Breakfast " evidently means no breakfast, unless we wanted a 15 minute walk to their harbourside premises, which begins service at 9am. (We didn't partake as we had an appointment and needed an earlier time) A totally non-contact premises , which appears to have a breakfast room and has won awards for breakfast, but which was not offering breakfast at the premises during our stay. Lovely view of the harbour from our room which was very clean. We were going to be late arriving, and let the owners know: they offered for us to cancel, so we didn't disturb others when arriving. A bit weird in that they wouldn't mind us having nowhere to kip, but were concerned we'd be noisy... Bit of passive-aggresive parking instructions, which seemingly no one followed. It's a bit of a strange set-up, ideal for reclusives, but don't think...
