My wife and I stayed in a “deluxe double room with sea view” at the Mount Royal Hotel for eight nights in September. The room was very spacious with a large and very comfy bed, and a wardrobe with plenty of hangers as well as drawers and shelves to store all of our clothes. There was a nice seating area in front of several openable windows looking out on St Michael’s Mount, a perfect place to relax with a book. Tea and coffee as well as biscuits were also provided in the room. Wifi was super fast. The bathroom had a single shower with a hot water booster that provided plenty of hot water at good pressure. ||The hotel itself is a large Victorian building located within a ten-minute walk from the Penzance train and bus stations. Despite being located on a busy road, we had no problems with noise. It is a beautiful building, with lovely architectural features and is well decorated. The large dining room is a treat in which to start your day with a large range of well-prepared breakfast items to select from. ||There are many restaurants and shops located very close to the hotel, and a self-serve laundromat is just down the road. Even to explore the area further, a car is really not necessary as the train and bus service is very good. ||Tom and Melanie, the owners and operators of the hotel, were always on hand to look after the guests and it was a pleasure to spend time chatting with them. ||If we were ever to return to Penzance there is no question that the first place to check for availability would be the Mount...
Read moreWe chose Penzance as a good base to explore the beautiful coast and countryside of West Cornwall. We researched many places to stay but read consistently good reviews about this guest house and we liked what we saw in the pictures so booked a five night stay in September. All I can say is that we definitely made the right choice!! The owners were exceptionally helpful and friendly and owner Tom helped my husband jumpstart our car one morning after breakfast after he accidentally left the headlights on overnight. He was also very helpful in giving us help and sharing advice so that we got the best out of our holiday. His lovely wife Melanie cooked us a lovely breakfast each morning. We both particularly loved the fresh fruit salads and the fresh Cornish smoked haddock. Our room was a showpiece - big, bright and airy with a lovely sea view over the bay capturing St. Michael's Mount and the nearby harbour. We would definitely visit again!!! Highly recommended!...
