When returning to this B & B at 10.30 in the evening we were unable to get into the front door with the keys provided. We rang the doorbell but no-one answered. We called the phone no. but it went to answerphone. After several minutes of waiting on the doorstep an irate man answered the door accusing us of "waking everybody up". We told him the key did not fit, he didn't believe us so he came outside, closed the door & tried the key himself. He also could then not get it! He had locked himself out and had to retrieve a spare key from a lockbox in order to get back in. We also came into the house then, and asked him what the problem with the key was. He then flew into a rage & accused us of "bending the lock"! And that "There is no problem with the f....... key". He then suddenly lost his temper & manhandled us out of the property whilst shouting "Get out of my f.......... house". We are two pensioners & we were left outside with no where to stay, speechless, totally shocked and stunned by this outrageous behaviour. We later learned that the man in question was Kevin Lynch, the proprietor. You have...
Read moreWe booked (and paid for) a 2 night stay in April 2025 back in July 2024, for a family room (3 people) through hotels.com. When we arrived 9 months later it turned out he had cancelled our booking without informing hotels.com. Kevin was absolute rude and proceeded to tell us booking. Com and hotels.com were the same company. Utter tosh. He then said we could t have booked as they don’t have family rooms. Well guess what Kevin you did when I booked. This idiot and his wife were no use and refused to help us out. We had travelled 3 hours and I have to say that hotels.com sourced us out excellent accommodation (Chiverton House). It seems to us that these charlatans didn’t want the hassle with Hotels.com (I have searched a number of future dates and all sold out!). Rather than fessing up and admitting he cancelled and didn’t have the guts to tell us he continued to be unhelpful. I wouldn’t stay in his gaffe if you paid me to. Very unhelpful...
Read moreAs soon as we parked the car outside Bay Lodge, Clare came out to warmly greet us and show us to our room. The room was modern, clean and bright with lots of mirrors and plenty of storage (drawers/wardrobe) for your belongings. The bay window had a side view of the sea. The busy road was quite noisy, but went quiet at night. The large room had tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom had a walk-in shower. Plenty of plug sockets.||Breakfast, deliciously cooked by Kevin, set us up for the day, fruit and cereals also provided. ||A short walk to the train station and ferry port, with some good pubs to eat in. Also, in the opposite direction it was possible to walk to Marazion and St Michael’s Mount along the coastal path.||It was an ideal base to get connections (helicopter, aeroplane or ferry) to the...
