An infogettable evening at The Bronze Pig, one of Lincoln’s very few fine dining restaurants. The 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing was superb 👌🍽️🍷 A rare treat for us, and we loved every minute of it 💚 #lincoln #lincolnfoodie #lincolnfoodies #visitlincoln #lovelincoln #lincolnuk #lincolnrestaurant

Just to clarify, I didn't stay in the hotel, just had dinner. I was recommended this restaurant by a neighbour as The Old Bakery was closed down. High quality restaurant. It looks elegant and refined, from the large china oriental vases to the ceiling lights, cristal chandeliers. The choice of materials, textures, all exudes quality. The bold paper and brightly colour murals on the wall are interesting and the chairs/armchairs delightful to look at and sit, all combining very well. The food was delicious: beautifully cooked and elegantly presented, the combination of flavours and textures singing in harmony. Starter of miso glazed pork belly and main of plaice: I particularly loved the combination of the pork, perfectly cooked almost melting in your mouth, with the saltiness of the eel. My main was really good as well and the dessert, pistachio and peach. (Port poached peach/pistachio macaroon/manuka honey) good but perhaps the weakest. The Pinot Noir Gran Riserva (Leyda Valley) complemented very well a wonderful meal. The owner, Pompeo, has created a high quality restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food is delicious, staff great and service excellent. Highly recommended.

We went for dinner last Saturday. Boy oh boy what an experience. We were passing through after a very tough day and were looking for a place to have a nice dinner just the two of us, no kids. After looking at a couple of options we decided for the bronze pig and arrived at the place with not a lot of expectations, but knowing it had a great reputation. The place is quirky and lovely. The manager/owner Pompeo and the front of the house team are very lovely and chatty and will engage with people and were very helpful. Now the food. It Is amazing. We had a very lovely dinner. Starter with the Beef Reuben, pig and seabass as mains and the sheep milk panna cotta as dessert. The flavours are in general very strong (with the exception of the seabass) and the chef seems to prefer very punchy combinations with his preparations which is something that I personally enjoy. The drinks menu is quite complete as well from very fancy and pricy options to very much affordable ones. 100% endorsed!

After booking weeks in advance, I was rung and essentially told my booking was an inconvenience because they wanted to get 2 or more sittings in. Given it was Valentine’s Day and I am kind, I agreed to move it forward to 6 so it could be rebooked after. We arrived at 6pm, (17:56) and walked in, they were blunt and told us we were early.. because we’d got to our booking 4 minutes prompt. (Imagine turning up a polite few minutes early and they make a comment about it?! Odd.) I said we aren’t that early, to which the manager then made another comment about us being due at 6:30. I quickly reminded him they had asked me to move. They were incredibly unorganised considering we were the very first customers of the evening, and after the weird timing debacle, we were then pointed to our table around a pillar ‘table number 1…’ because sure! We work here and know where it is… To not be shown to it, sat, or even have coats taken etc was very unprofessional. We then sat down, and after choosing not to proceed with the recommended drinks, we weren’t offered any water and it took them about 15 minutes to provide the standard drinks menu. The waiters stood around, having presence but perhaps not actively present as they were not that helpful, looking more interested in the passing by traffic outside the window than the customers in front of them. We were eventually served the starter which was a tiny portion of quite nice verde risotto. But again when we had finished with this course and our drinks the waiter stood less than 3 feet away and walked past a couple times without taking plates etc. our glasses were empty and we had to constantly asked for them to be refilled (they didn’t leave the bottle we chose at the table) so they should have been doing it automatically. When our main course did come out it was stone cold. The chef only cooked one side of the meat leaving one side medium rare but completely rare, nearly blue, on the other side. When informed the manager it was cold, we waited quite a while, eventually receiving a new plate which was completely the same as the first, cold and undercooked. The plates were hot as if they had been in the microwave but food wasn’t. We notified who we presume was the main waitress that we were unhappy and decided to leave prematurely. We walked out with our bottle of wine and did not pay for the terrible meal.|It’s worth reiterating both of us work in hospitality. So we often make exceptions for things going wrong- given that we understand sometimes things go wrong at our workplaces. Now we’re not unreasonable people either, I frequently have my steak rare/ med-rare, but it isn’t cold. At the end of the day it’s simple- When you pay a good price, you expect to be shown to your table, have your wine topped up and food warm. Those aren’t hard boxes to tick. We’re not silly, but what you’re paying for is the service, which this place...

This is not a review a week ago I thought I would be leaving. We booked for Valentine's evening at 7pm and arrived a little early at around 6.40. We were the first to arrive and were greeted by a young waitress who showed us to our table. The table layout is cramped to say the least. The place is very small and maybe trying to fit too many people in. A menu was on our table and it soon became apparent that it was a fixed 5 course meal (£85 a head), at no point were we made aware of this when booked. No good if you had a nut allergy as every dish contained nuts. After about 20minutes or so the restaurant was full and we were looking forward to trying the food. However from here onwards everything went downhill. It was 7.30 and still no sign of any food (by now been there 50 minutes) everyone was looking around and wondering what was happening. I then overheard the waitress telephoning a customer because they hadn't arrived. She told them they needed to arrive shortly as food would be served in the next 30minutes!!. My wife asked the owner what was happening regarding the food and when it would arrive. He was quite frankly pompous with an air of arrogance and made us feel like we should be grateful for being in his presence. It turned out that he would not serve anyone until the inconsiderate couple who were late arrived, this was totally disrespectful to other dinners. The first course arrived at 8pm, several other tables were served before us even though we arrived first. The scallops were tiny to say the least, and luke warm, not good. The owner was all over some tables like a rash especially the couple next to us, he was a builder doing some work for him so got extra attention. To add insult he served them an additional course after the first while we were all waiting hungry. The owner then spent quite a while outside smoking with another customer. The next 2 courses arrived but by then it was after 9pm, we had been there nearly 2 and a half hours. The monkfish and lamb was again tiny portions and almost cold. It became apparent that you are expected to wait 45-50 minutes between courses. We then decided to leave the restaurant and not finish the meal. There were no apologises from the owner what so ever even though we voiced our concerns . The waitresses were very pleasant and I've got no complaints with them. The atmosphere inside was none existent, no background music and there were bounts of silence and the whole place feels a bit uncomfortable. I can only describe it like being at someone's house for dinner with people you've never met before. All in all I would not recommend this place to anyone, the owner obviously thinks he better than everyone else unless you are his friend or doing building work for him on the cheap. We eat out at least twice a week and this must be one of the worst places we have visited...

This place looks cute online but we were disappointed with our visit. Here's some highs and lows.||High points|Nicely decorated room and bathroom|Really comfortable big bed|Quality bedding|Lovely walk-in shower|Big smart TV on the wall||Low Points|Bin in room still full with the last occupants rubbish|Bathmat in room used as a small rug|Tiny wardrobe|Loose floor tile as you step into the bathroom|Mirror leaning dangerously against the wall in the bathroom |Dingy alleyway entrance |Poor welcome |Promise of champagne and water in the room on arrive, but no sign of either|Promise of City views, but awful view of someones dull back yard|Limescale caked shower head We stayed for one night in an upgraded room for £123, so disspointed with the quality for the price. If all the above was addressed then it would have been a lovely visit. My advice (although I'm not a hotelier), give guests a better warmer welcome, make sure rooms are clean and bins are emptied, sort out the Alley way entrance, give what you promise and maintain the rooms.||I stay in a lot of hotels and you can tell that they don't have the experience required to run a nice hotel/b and b so that the guests have a...
