Went here with my partner on valentines. Service was poor the staff spent lots of time chatting to each other by the stairs and not enough time attending to customers. We asked for a bag to take some of our food home and instead of bringing us the bag the server took the food that we wanted to take home and I watched her pick it up with her bare hands and put it into the bag (the whole palms of both of her hands were on my leftover naan bread), so those breads will be going in the bin and I am quite disgusted by this. Tongs should've been used, or she could've given me the bag and I could've put my own food away. She had just been clearing peoples plates and she didnt wash her hands between this and handling my food. When she gave us the bag she basically threw it on our table and it toppled over onto the dirty table, instead of handing it to us.
Another thing to note is that I am British born but of indian heritage and I really noticed that me and partner were ignored a lot of the time, whereas caucasian customers were attended to quickly. I do feel there was some sort of bias in the way that we were treated and served.
I also found the food quite bland and flavourless, not spicy at all, which was really disappointing. Ordered the fish pakora and it was basically plain battered fish goujons with no flavour or spice. Also ordered the tandoori deluxe which for some reason came with a vegetable curry and naan bread which is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. Disappointed with the selection of meat we were given in the tandoori deluxe. It seemed to be a selection of random bits of chicken, for example we had one drumstick, one bony breast piece. The menu doesn't mention that this contains bones. Some of the cuts of chicken were dark and tough and not very nice. We also only got two bits of lamb and it was supposed to come with chicken tikka but we didn't get any of this. The saag paneer and bombay aloo were bland and not spiced. The menu says the bombay aloo is medium spiced, it's not it's very mild.
A lot of my friends had raved about this place and I came home thinking I could've cooked myself a better more...
Read moreIn Lincoln for the weekend so was looking online for a place to eat. We both love Indian food and as this was near where we were staying and had good reviews, booked a table in advance. When we arrived we had to wait a few minutes as they were seating a party of 20. We were seated within about 5 minutes and asked them to ensure we could get our order in before the large party. Drinks came while we were viewing menu and they took our order straight away. We both had Sheek kebab to start which is pretty standard fayre but it was cooked well and came with lots of fried onions which we like and the usual salad and mint yoghurt. My favourite main is chicken tawa and the dish I tend to order when trying any new Indian restaurant. My husband decided to go for the same and we shared a peshwari naan and a pilau rice. The tawa was the best we've had, came on a sizzling platter cooked to perfection. Plenty of succulent chicken, lots of onoin and peppers in the sauce. Just the right amount of heat in the dish to flavour it without being too spicy. The naan was a generous size and nice and soft. Rice was as expected. Staff were very friendly and attentive even whilst very busy serving a large party, making sure we weren't overlooked. They even asked if we were ok with the noise, which we were and they very kindly gave us a complimentary drink at the end of the meal. The restaurant is obviously very popular as they were having to turn away people who hadn't booked. Will most definitely eat here again next time we...
Read moreOur first visit to this restaraunt and won’t go back again. Food is excellent but the upstairs cramped conditions and table seating made it very unpleasant. It was exceedingly hot upstairs and the air con wasn’t put on, just a small window was opend. There were 8 in our party and only 4 menus which wouldn’t be a problem if we had time to pass around but the waitress came twice within 7 minutes to ask us for orders . It took us a while to try and spread the tables out to fit 8 of us around it. In the end they left us a small fold up table for 2 of our party to put the food on as there was no room on tables. Our courses were rushed and at end of our meal we were asked to move downstairs with our drinks even though our 90minute limitied time slot had almost 20minutes left on it. Downstairs was jammed solid, 6 seats, non available and not an inch of floor space to stand! We had to wade through the the crowd of approx 20 people who also jammed the one and only entrance/exit waiting for their telephone orders and had no choice other than to stand outside to have our drinks and wait for taxis…. They need some kind of structured system , I felt enclosed and unsafe upstairs, it was dark and oppressive. I think they must take more customers and takeaway customers than they can obviously handle seeing as the que was so long but obviously appreciate the abundance of custom and income...
