Really wanted to love this place as we enjoy Liverpool and love the vibe of the Baltic area, but this was honestly one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. The only positive was how easy it was to check in and out — everything else was a letdown from the start. When we arrived at the room, the carpets were visibly dirty and the walls were scratched, stained, and flaking. Most surfaces felt sticky or unclean. The mirrors were placed so high I could barely see myself properly (I’m 5’5”), which just felt like poor design. The showerhead was literally held up with zip ties — not only unprofessional, but frankly unsafe. There were no bathroom amenities as listed in the description or shown in the booking photos, just a wall-mounted body wash dispenser. There was also no hairdryer in the room, so my partner had to go searching through the hotel to find one after getting no reply from the WhatsApp number that claims to be “24/7”. The TV didn’t work at all, and no one made any effort to help or offer a solution. The room was unbearably hot at night — a complete sauna — even with the windows open (which barely blocked out any of the noise from the loud street below when closed). There’s no air-conditioning, but when we called reception to ask about the heat, we were told the “air-con was working fine” — which is odd because there isn’t any. Staff were dismissive and unhelpful, saying “it is what it is” and acting as though we were being unreasonable. We were left sweating all night with no fan or alternative provided. The only gesture offered was a single bottle of water. To top it off, we came down the next morning for breakfast, which we had already paid for through our Booking.com reservation — only to be told they couldn’t serve eggs. I have dietary restrictions and eggs were the only item on the menu I could actually eat. No alternatives were offered, and I left with just a coffee, even though we’d paid for a full breakfast. We asked to speak to a manager both that evening and the following morning but were told there wasn’t one available. We were simply asked to leave an email address and told someone would be in touch — but surprise, no one has followed up. The overall vibe of this place could be great, but it’s clear that cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service are just not a priority. Staff seemed uninterested and unwilling to resolve any issues, and the experience left us feeling frustrated and uncomfortable throughout our stay. Would not recommend — there are far better, friendlier, and cleaner options in Liverpool, especially for the price.

After an epic drive from London, thanks to the rail strike, it was so nice to get a genuinely warm welcome when I checked in. That first impression is so important and The Baltic nailed it. I loved the glass fridges filled with champagne under the reception desk. That sets the tone, this is not your normal hotel but I love it and would gladly stay here again. There is a lively bar with seating outside looking out onto a quiet side street. This is such an interesting area and there is a wide array of small business such as coffee shops and bakeries, to indicate that this is an up and coming area (Grael was my favourite, offering a trainer cleaning and restoration service). It's all quite dark and moody in the common areas of thebhotel, which proved a bit challenging when trying to figure out the door unlocking system for our floor. Our room was close to that door to the lift and I was worried about being kept awake all night with it slamming closed but that wasn't a problem at all. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The artwork and Marshall fridge provide that rock & roll edge (as does The Jam logo on the lift floor - one of my all time favourite bands!!). The bathroom was small but perfectly formed and again, spotlessly clean. The sink was outside the bathroom, which was a little strange but not a big deal. Huge ring light mirrors over the sink and in the bathroom absolutely made up for it. Much better than struggling with the tiny magnifying mirror that you normally find in hotel rooms. We were going to the M&S arena, so the location was perfect. Just a short walk away. Which is nice when you're leaving the venue because you know you don't need to deal with taxis or public transport because you'll be back at your room (or the bar) and in your PJ's super quickly. The bed was huge, lovely crisp sheets. A little firm for my liking but it didn't stop me sleeping like a baby. Breakfast was a little slower and was the only thing that let the Baltic down. Great selection and all reasonably priced and when it arrived it was tasty but it took a while to get there. I think that was the only part that didn't stand up to the inflated pricing due to Eurovision but that was a small glitch during an otherwise spectacular stay. Thank you Baltic for making our first trip to Liverpool memorable for all the right reasons.

I have never felt compelled to share a negative review before but I can only assume that they aren't bothered. I booked a 'Room With A View' for a Saturday night, for £215. The main selling point, aside from big windows, and why it costs more than the standard type is because it also comes with a record player. This is advertised all over their socials and website. We only live 40 mins away but we were attending a gig in town for my husband's birthday and so I thought it would be a great birthday pre-gig treat to have some drinks in the room listening to the selection of records from the hotel reception for the afternoon. We didn't really need to stay overnight but seemed like a different experience and worth it for on a special occasion. But on arrival there was no record player in the room (I found out they'd moved it to another room). There's a framed sign placed in the room that tells you if you need anything to contact the desk via whatsapp, 24hr assistance. So I sent a message to the number and it was read within 5 minutes so we left it at that, expecting a record player to be provided shortly. We continued to get ready, still nothing. We then headed out to the gig and gave up on the idea of our afternoon listening to records. At no point was a record player provided and at no point did anyone reply to my message. On checkout I queried it. The two members of staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing and could not offer any explanation but they did apologise and say they would pass it on to the manager. I also queried why my message was read and ignored, when you are told to contact the reception via this method. Again they couldn't really offer anything. I sent an email and the reply I got was that I should have requested a record player in advance, they had checked and I hadn't requested one. Why on earth would I, it's already advertised as included in the room? They also felt that even though they tell you to contact reception via Whatsapp, that I should have traveled down the 5 floors and asked at the desk as well. They did not feel that the lack of record player had impacted my stay enough to offer a refund, but did offer me a free nights stay to use another time. As a busy mum only 40 mins away, this wasn't practical or needed any time soon, and I wouldn't want to go back knowing how poor the customer service is anyway. I replied respectfully declining, explaining why I should not have to request something listed in the room already, and had to chase the hotel up for a response multiple times. After a few weeks of being ignored I was offered a partial refund of 25%. That was more reasonable and I accepted with thanks, grateful to just get a reply and be done with it. But then the communication stopped once again, no refund arrived and I had to send several emails chasing it again over weeks. I got one reply that just said "I'll check this for you" and nothing for a week until I chased again, absolutely baffled by the complete lack of customer service or will to do better, especially after acknowledging that there's been an issue.

The TV didn't work in the room, signal was too poor to get any channel working. I can see this is a common issue and honestly it left us bored, have never been so fed up in a hotel room. There was a dirty brown stain on the carpet, assuming coffee/tea that didn't look like anyone had tried to clean it. There were ring marks along the window ledge that also looked like it hadn't been cleaned.

A totally underwhelming and really disappointing stay despite looking impressive online, all style no substance. Such a shame, it ruined what was supposed to be a birthday treat for my husband. Why they don't just keep the record players in the premium rooms and have extras behind the counter to lend out I'll never know. Why they insist on you contacting via Whatsapp and then not bothering to reply. TVs that don't work. Not replying to emails. Easy fixes! I gave so many chances for them to rectify the issues that it just makes me think that ultimately they...

I booked the hotel for the price as it seemed reasonable. However, I would not recommend this hotel. We stayed Easter Sunday- Easter Monday. The roads surrounding are filthy, covered in sick and rowdy through the night. We arrived at 2pm on the Sunday to be greeted by a miserable soul on the front desk. He was very unhelpful and although we were an hour early, I thought the offer of getting a drink in the bar before we could check in would have been useful but no such luck. We stayed in a groupie room as a family of 4. The steps leading up to the room were filthy. The room itself was a good size, and facilities were modern. The air conditioning didn’t work properly, so our room was like a sauna. We opened the windows for as long as we could bear but the noise from the drunks all through the night made us close the windows. There was a lovely deep bath which unfortunately was in the room with no privacy so I couldn’t use it as stepdaughter was with us and don’t think she’d appreciate seeing me naked! We didn’t have breakfast included but decided to eat here for convenience. Tables were absolutely filthy, staff member was not attentive at all, we had to keep asking for things such as salt and sauces. Breakfast ok… paid 50p extra for burnt sourdough toast. There is no parking at the hotel. There is a carpark across the road, but apparently you have to go back across at midnight to put a new ticket on else you will get a parking fine! We parked around a 7min walk away near Albert dock. (It’s uphill to the hotel so be aware if you have luggage) It was secure but cost around £26 for the night.

Unfortunately my son left behind his comfort blanket that he had had since a baby in the hotel. BE CAREFUL IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING OF SENTIMENTAL VALUE TO NOT LEAVE IT AS THE HOTEL THREW THIS AWAY AS SOON AS WE LEFT. We checked out at 11am. By the time we got home in the evening and realised we had left the blanket in the hotel, I contacted them via email as obviously my son was distraught. They never replied to this email. I called first thing on Tuesday morning and was completely fobbed and told they would look for it. I knew exactly where in the room it had been left, but apparently they couldn’t find it. They said they would contact the linen company. After a couple of days of ME CONTACTING THE HOTEL regarding this, I got the linen companies number myself. I dealt with a lovely lady there who literally tore the cages apart looking for said blanket and kept me updated throughout. Unfortunately the blanket wasn’t found. I was told by this company that If this was swept up with the linen they would definitely have it: which leads me to say that this Sentimental Item was thrown away by housekeeping at the hotel on the same day we left (I mean absolutely terrible when it is obvious what it is) There is no reason why this was not found considering I got straight in contact on the day we checked out… I spoke back with the hotel who said they would check lost property… again not found. I was advised by the man on reception to email a complaint to the hotel to take this further and for it to reach the CEO of the company to follow this up. He assured me that he would personally ensure that this email would reach the top. Surprise surprise I haven’t heard anything back from my email. Disappointing and they obviously don’t care less about customers or customer service! This hotel and its management is complete shambles. If you don’t want your belongings to go missing I would...
