Sussex Fish Bar — Local services in London

We went as a group of eight people to the establishment. When we sat down, we informed the gentleman who served us that we wanted to split the bill. He seemed upset by the request and said he could only divide the bill into two. We explained that we were three groups (as we were going to pay with cards from different countries, not cash). He then told us we would need to pay at the till, and we agreed. He wrote down the order in his notebook, and I took the responsibility of explaining which group ordered each meal. However, instead of keeping the orders separate on paper or adding three different orders in his system, he put everything into one single order. When we went to pay, we were treated poorly. He yelled at us and at the employee he called to assist him. He said, "This is why I don’t want to split the bill, because my system is very complicated" (even though we had told him we would pay separately). He also said, "This is not common in the UK" (I have lived in the UK for almost 10 years and have never had an issue splitting the bill). In the end, the food wasn’t good either – it was oily and tasteless. Also, the menu said the fish came with chips and mushy peas, but he didn’t bring the mushy peas. When we asked about this, he only brought four and made a big deal about it, as if he was giving them to us for free! So, it really wasn’t...

Sat inside and was not greeted, so we went over to the counter to order. We asked if the price difference (points to menu above head) between small/medium/large was for the fish or the chips. We were told that the difference is in‼️BOTH fish AND chips.

Our order: Medium fish with a canned drink x2

After we ate and was paying, the total bill quoted was £28+, which to us was ???? When we calculated from the above menu, it only came up to £17.4 💀 LOL that was when we were told there was another menu meant for dine-in with different charges. And yet, we were NOT ❌️ shown the menu at any point of time before/during ordering. It was also now told to us that chips and drinks were charged SEPARATELY 🤡 from the fish.

Only after much debate did they agree to charge us for takeaway price. Even then, we were charged EXTRA for the fish hahha go at your own risk 💀 if u notice, the medium fish takeaway charges on receipt is also NOT corresponding to the one stated on 'takeaway' menu above our head

Also, did I mention that there was another couple ordering dine-in from the same menu above our heads (they were explicitly pointing at it and ordering) but was not shown the...

Most appalling customer service we’ve ever encountered. Would leave ZERO stars if possible! Ordered ‘freshly squeezed orange juice’ for £2.95 what a joke, so watered down couldn’t even taste the orange was worse than orange squash. Food was slow, barely average and completely overpriced. The waitress serving us treated us with such disdain it was almost laughable. She was grumpy, rude, grimiest and was an all round miserable individual. She gave us laser eyes and kept mouthing things at colleges while looking at us and giving us dirty looks. She also snarled at us whist being on the phone when we asked politely for the bill. To top it all of she rolled her eyes as she grabbed my contactless credit card and paid for the meal herself without showing us the price on display and no dialogue what’s so ever!!! As we were about to leave I asked her to fill up my water bottle, slightly scared she would spit in it, and to my disbelief she lied saying the tap water was only to “rinse things” and “wash hands” suggesting it wasn’t drinking water!!
