I had an incredible meal at Cawnpore near Paddington Station and it’s safe to say this is one of the best Indian meals I’ve had in London. From the moment I sat down, I knew I was in for something special. The restaurant itself is comfortable and inviting, creating the perfect setting to enjoy a hearty meal. The butter chicken was absolutely outstanding — rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The lamb shank was another highlight: tender, perfectly cooked, and full of deep, aromatic spices that made every bite a delight. The side of onion and the flaky parantha were just as impressive, complementing the main dishes beautifully. The combination of textures and flavors worked perfectly together, and everything felt freshly prepared. Presentation was excellent, and the meal was as visually appealing as it was delicious — you can see from the photos how tempting everything looked. The service was attentive and friendly, making the experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Overall, Cawnpore is a must-visit for anyone in the Paddington area who loves authentic, flavorful Indian cuisine. Every dish I tried was memorable, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Cawnpore, just steps from Paddington Station, surprised me in the best way. I popped in for dinner and ordered the garlic naan (buttery perfection, slightly crisp at the edges) and chicken tikka masala, which was rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and quick to check that everything was OK without hovering. They also accept Amex, which is nice. A small observation: it seems they only have one table for solo diners - I noticed a couple of single guests turned away after me. To their credit, they even called one back later when space opened up, which says a lot about how much they care about service. I’ll definitely book ahead next time if I’m dining alone, as they seem quite popular (and with food like this, I can see why). The bill came to about £30, including the 12% service charge that’s automatically added — so no need to tip extra unless you really want to. Prices are a touch above average, but the quality and care more than justify it. If you’re near Paddington and craving Indian food that feels both comforting and elevated - Cawnpore is your spot.

From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted with a warm welcome and great hospitality. Abbas allowed us to select our table and we sat down, where we were provided menus for both drinks and menu. After some deliberation we decided on some dishes but couldn’t decide on others, thankfully Abbas helped us with his personal recommendations which definitely did not miss. The King Prawn Patia Puri was exceptional alongside the chicken tikka for starters. For mains we got a Kori Gassa, for those classic chicken curry flavours, and an Uppi Kari (chefs recommendation) which was the highlight of the night. Paired with a few fresh selections of naan and rice, a meal to remember.

We recently had an experience at your restaurant that was highly disappointing and unacceptable. When we were seated in the third-class section, we found there were no suitable options available that we liked. Consequently, we decided to step outside. Upon doing so, the staff accused us of being rude. Despite apologizing to them, they made derogatory remarks, including, "This is not your India," and proceeded to insult us further.

We are educated individuals who are fully capable of managing our own expenses. The staff called us derogatory names like "bastard" and said things like, "We're not your restaurant." This is unacceptable behavior. Your restaurant staff has no right to force customers to eat against their will. As paying customers, we have the right to decide whether we want to dine at your establishment or not. The rude and unprofessional behavior displayed by your staff is unacceptable and reflects poorly on your restaurant.

We request immediate action to address this matter and ensure such behavior does not happen again. Respect and courtesy toward customers should be a fundamental standard at any...
