UPDATE - I still have not been contacted by Chapter Aldgate and it has been over a month since my review. My partner and I recently stayed at Chapter Aldgate for a total of 13 nights. My partner was finishing a barber course in Farringdon and I joined him after he had been staying there for 3 nights. Over the last 6 months we have been back and forth to London as my partner attempted to complete his course, but with lockdowns and the course repeatedly being put on hold it has been very difficult. That being said, we have stayed in many different areas, hotels, privately owned properties and air bnbs over the course of his studies. With only 2 weeks left of his course we booked Chapter Aldgate as it was within walking distance and had a kitchen. We lost a lot over the pandemic and used all of our savings to book our stay which cost £900, the most expensive we have payed yet. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The windows leaked into the room every night, the toaster did not work, the utensils were dirty and a hair was found on the plate when we first took it out of the cupboard. Cleaning equipment was not provided so we went out and purchased toilet bleach, washing up liquid, sponges, a dustpan and brush etc. I cleaned everything again and when I went to cook my meal realised there was no knife to cut with, a scratched and flaking frying pan and no oven, only a microwave oven (the advertisement for the room stated that a kitchen and utensils were included, as well as an oven). After a few nights uncomfortable sleep with the sheet coming off every night as it was not deep enough for the mattress, I reported some of my issues to front desk. I went to the front desk a total of three times with my issues, the first two times I was told to 'come back tomorrow' as there was 'nothing they could do'. On the third occasion I was assured new sheets and a toaster would be provided to which I informed the receptionist that I would be out all day and to please put them inside my room. Two more days went by and I decided to contact Chapter Aldgate via Airbnb where I was then offered to move rooms if I replied to them by 8pm. I received this message when I returned at approx 10pm and explained that I had two nights left of my thirteen night stay anyway and would be out the following day and checking out the morning after. The fact that for the whole weekend I was told to come back the following day by the security guard is appalling. My partner said he wasn't shown any facilities upon arrival, nor told where to put the bins, where to find cleaning equipment or anything like that. The same security guard who kept telling me to come back mis-gendered my boyfriend when he showed his ID claiming his ID was 'a girls ID' and was found asleep at the desk when my boyfriend went to complain about noise from a party in a neighbouring room. Covid safety wise, to find utensils which had food residue on, a plate with a hair on and the very fact that a party was able to occur is absolutely horrifying. Alongside the ill-quipped and falsely advertised room as well as the lack of support from front desk staff, I am so disappointed.

It's a good place to live in for your first year of uni, to meet new people and have a good time. There is positive and negative things about this place. Pros: - the common area is a nice play to socialise, it has billiard, foosball and table tennis - the cinema room has an XBox and PS5 - the reception staff is super nice. Shaq, Armando and Gabi are super helpful and skilled Cons: - the rooms aren't worth the price, they are too small, the mattress is super uncomfortable, the desk chair is a literal pain in the butt and the heater in the bathroom can cause burns if your not careful, so watch out for that

Avoid this place!!! If you are looking for rude staff and poor maintenance this is the place. I had a one year contract and I was glad when it was over. The staff is really rude, especially on the weekends and at night. Whenever I had a maintenance issue it took staff at least 2 weeks to fix it. Hygiene in the "social area" on group floor got so bad one week that there were rats running around. When I moved into my apartment I had to ask for another mattress because the one they wanted me to sleep on was full of blood. This reflected on the overall state of my room when I first moved in.

General Experience: I've been living in Chapter Aldgate for almost a month already, and I really love it here. The accommodations are pretty cozy, almost feeling like home. The common areas are something special in this Chapter since you can share multiple things with your guests and friends. For example, awesome ping-pong table and a foosball table, they have a relaxing outdoor area for when you want fresh air and lots of sofas near the pool table and they also have a gym!. And did I mention they have a CINEMA room?, they do and it’s my favorite place, I love watching movies, playing games with their PS5 or Xbox X or simply sitting on their couches!

Staff environment and reception: Something unbeatable here in Chapter Aldgate is that every single person in this building is incredibly nice. The cleaning staff are super friendly and are willing to assist you with everything you need once you check-in. In the reception, everyone is so friendly and each one has their own special vibe. Shaq is always very smiley and friendly, Armando with his spontaneous jokes and great charisma, and Gabriela with her beauty and supportiveness. And last but not least, the night staff are super friendly and would look after you if you have any complications. They do an excellent job at securing the building with the commitment to the policies here in Chapter.

Improvements:

Personally, in the room I am staying in, it is challenging to have an electric kettle or a toaster when the fire alarm is right above the space I have my stuff...

COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED. I very rarely write reviews, but these guys earned it. My Son was fortunate to have an internship with an American company which afforded the opportunity to experience the London market for a month and earn college credits for doing so. The challenge was finding accommodations. Hotels were prohibitively expensive, as were serviced apartments, and neither placed him among university aged residents. AirBNB similarly was similarly inconvenient in that I could not rent an apartment for more than a few days at a time. While there were opportunities for student housing at nearby universities in London, they weren’t available in June and it looked as though all was for naught.

Enter Chapter Aldgate. From the moment I spoke with Matt and Leandro, it became clear they’re mission was to rind a way to make.it work. Where so many others would simply say “we can’t help you”, they instead said they could. By coordinating with me to insure all eleigibility protocols were complied with, to welcoming him when arrived and, most importantly, looking out for him afterward they went above and beyond the call.

The accommodations were excellent, the location was perfect, the experience will last a lifetime.i would recommend any student to confer with Chapter Aldgate and it’s affiliates for their housing needs and I again thank and applaud Leandro and Matt for all...
