We stayed at the gate hotel for 6 days, in a room on the 19th floor that had a small kitchen. Positives: -staff was friendly -there’s a really nice lounge on the 5th floor with complimentary coffee and comfy places to sit. There’s also a nice adjacent terrace. -Nice decor and pleasant ambiance Negatives: -many of the dishes in our kitchen had crusty food on them/were dirty -no phone in the room. So if for example when the one single roll of toilet paper they provide runs out, you either have to go down to reception to ask or use your cellphone and pay international carrier charges to call them. -dishwasher was broken. We let them know but they never fixed it. -when we asked to borrow a pair of scissors we were told that’s impossible for safety reasons. Considering the kitchen in our room came equipped with proper cutting knives, that seemed a bit absurd. -they didn’t have any adapters for electronic devices to lend us. Seems like an international hotel that has many guests coming from other countries — having some adapters to lend guests should be a given. -the air in the room was quite stuffy. Only two small windows have the possibility to be opened, but only a few centimeters. For safety reasons, this is to be expected in London. But most buildings I’ve been to here have windows that open slightly more. -the room came with a washing machine that we were hoping to use just once. We asked the hotel for a single detergent portion, they told us they don’t provide this and that we should go to the shops to buy some ourselves. The room wasn’t exactly cheap so not providing even one detergent portion really isn’t nice. -the room we stayed in had some kind of terrace that was not accessible because it had solar panels on it. This was ok but what was too bad was that the solar panels and the type of railing they had completely blocked the view of London. We had no idea the room was like this. It would have been nice to know in advance. -there was no cleaning of the room in the entire 6 days we were there. Upon arrival, reception let us know we would be receiving one “light cleaning” at the midpoint of our stay. This only included a changing of towels and the bed was made. The floor wasn’t vacuumed, surfaces weren’t wiped, coffee pods and tea weren’t restocked — so zero cleaning was done. All these things on their own are not really a problem, but the accumulation of all of it was very disappointing. If you stay here definitely don’t invest in one of the nicest rooms. If you choose the basic rooms they have, it can maybe be a nice stay.

I had the lovely opportunity of staying at this beautiful hotel and was not disappointed. This hotel is located in east London and conveniently located by the tube. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the staff who went their extra mile to give me an upgrade. The hotel is beautiful with lovely charming colors and pleasing aesthetics. The 5th floor is super resourceful and open 24hrs to work and serves coffee, tea and water and drinks. It’s a great space to work with beautiful glass windows and a lovely terrace. Breakfast is simple yet gets the job done and the menu for food was delicious! The rooms are more than practical and perfect for a short or long term stay. There’s an oven + plates and utensils. They use the best products (le labo) and my room came with the best goodies. There’s a robe and fresh slippers. Personally it’s an affordable hotel in the center of London with beneficial perks. One of my favorite hotels in London and will definitely be back. There’s too many staff to thank, but a special thanks to the lovely front desk (Gabrielle and team) and to Zlata! I can’t wait to be back!

Amazing value, clean, comfortable, spacious and friendly. The PROPERTY felt modern, clean and well presented. The main reception and seating areas are full of living plants looking very healthy and lush. As a horticulturist I felt it really enhanced the modern and trendy vibe. My ROOM was great, spacious, clean and modern with a great view from the 19th floor. Booking a studio I was upgraded to the studio with a view which I appreciated given it was my first stay here. The rooms are sound proofed, so had a comfortable and quiet nights sleep. The STAFF were lovely, greeted by a friendly receptionist when checking in. We had a chat about the plants but she really added to my great first impression. When checking out, the process was quick, efficient and friendly. In SUMMARY I would most definitely stay again. Amazing value, comfortable and friendly. I highly recommend staying you, won't be disappointed.

The team at Flavour Venues & Events recently had the pleasure of staying at The Gate Hotel. This luxury aparthotel exceeded our expectations and provided us with a quiet and very comfortable stay in a bustling part of the City. This Aldgate based hotel has excellent transport links and is walking distance from City business hubs, plus popular locations such as Tower Bridge, Brick Lane, and Shoreditch. Despite its busy location, The Gate provides an atmosphere of serenity, plus a very warm welcome. The Gate Hotel London boasts a strong collection of 189 apartment bedrooms. Our Superior Apartment had excellent soundproofing and offered fabulous views of the surrounding area. The design of the room made fantastic use of the space, comfortably including a bathroom, kitchen, dining area, TV lounge and King-size bedroom in a 32 sqm area. Welcome touches such as a Smart TV, Nespresso coffee machine, safe, iron and a rainfall shower provided a home-from-home for us business travellers. Conference delegates and tourists alike would find everything they need inside their pleasantly decorated apartment, including a sofa bed for extra guest capacity. Their portfolio of bedrooms ranges from compact studios to The Residence; a generously proportioned space featuring 2 bathrooms and bedrooms, which is ideal for families. We’ve previously booked events at The Gate, so we were delighted to meet with Senior Sales Executive Andrea Andreu to get an updated tour of their event spaces. The venue includes a Members Lounge and Terrace, which can be hired for private and corporate events. The space is lavishly decorated with original and new mid-century furniture and features a collection of art curated by The Maddox Gallery. There’s a bar, dining area and lounge, which can be utilised for a range of event options. The room offers plenty of natural light and can be set up for private dining events, meetings, parties, networking and more. The adjoining outdoor terrace is a beautiful sunny spot with great views across the city. An oasis of natural woods and foliage, this alfresco area is ideal for barbecues, cocktail events, and summer parties. The 5th floor Members Lounge and Terrace are wheelchair accessible via elevators. These versatile event spaces have a selection of unique catering options for private events and can be hired with capacities ranging from 20 to 80 guests. With semi-private hire options starting at £2,000 minimum spend, they offer excellent value too. The comfort and wellbeing of both short, and long-term guests of The Gate is paramount. In addition to offering healthy, energising breakfasts and a selection of meals cooked on-site at their Maple restaurant, there’s a range of wellness programs available to guests as well. Their boutique gym features state-of-the-art Technogym equipment and even Peloton bikes. With a stellar range of equipment, and even yoga classes at the gym or on the terrace, guests can start their days in fine form. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Gate and have no doubt our clients will too. The team were helpful and attentive. The room was peaceful and well facilitated. The event space was beautifully fitted and offered a wealth of event possibilities. We can confidently recommend this fabulous aparthotel for group bookings and corporate events. As a Ctrip user for so many years, this is the first time I write such a bad review. Some employees of this hotel are not suitable for working in the service industry at all. 1) At noon on the first day, I arrived at the hotel and said that the room was not ready, but I had a meeting in the afternoon, and I hope they can lend me a room to pack my luggage and change into a suit. They asked me to go to the toilet for the disabled to change. They watched me drag 21 2) When I found out that the hotel does not have a laundry room as stated in the introduction (because the schedule is very fast, there is no way to use the hotel’s laundry service), so I want to upgrade it for one night. For a room with a washing machine, I was told that I had to pay an extra 1300 yuan per night, and I had to upgrade for two consecutive nights (only two nights in total). I was very impatient and urged me to make a decision as soon as possible so as not to hinder him from getting off work. I hoped to communicate with them through Ctrip and only be promoted for one night, but it didn’t work (the staff who contacted Ctrip at the time also reported that their attitude was very bad, and Also urged us to make a decision as soon as possible so as not to prevent them from getting off work) 3) Finally, after paying 2600 for two nights, I found that the room conditions were very average, the room was extremely small, and it was on the third floor near the road, opposite the bar, until early morning The time is still very noisy, plus the noise of the road cars, there is no way to sleep, and the so-called bedroom has no room to walk after putting a bed, and when the wardrobe passes by the bed, the body is attached to the TV. Moreover, the electrical equipment in the room is not normal. There is no sound at all when the TV is on (it took half an hour for the night shift staff to fix it). , and then the door still can't be opened, and I can only open it after they come to cut off the power again, and I still have a bag of wet clothes when I leave. Checked out at 9, no one said there was a problem with my room while waiting at the front desk for about 30 minutes, then all of a sudden at 3:00 pm I got an email from them saying that I broke the safe in their room , (I have never used this safe at all, I have never even touched it) Then I did not provide any evidence, nor did I provide any photos, nor did I have any communication with me, it was directly in my credit card 1300 yuan was deducted! So if you take the risk of staying in this hotel, please make sure to ask the hotel to check the room immediately when you check out, otherwise any damages in the future may be counted on your head, even if the safe can be broken, what else is there? Can't be bad! Don't provide credit card deduction, this hotel is not recommended to...

The ending was disappointing... We had a lovely experience at The Gate Hotel and would like to thank the lovely two staff members who welcomed us on our arrival on Saturday 9th July (the receptionist and security guard). We arrived at the hotel on July 9 at 10pm. The receptionist gave us an amazing service, checked us in at the last minute, and made sure our stay was perfect so we truly appreciate him for that. The security guard on that night was also very welcoming so thank you! We would also like to thank Gabriella who was outstanding during our checkout and gladly offered the luggage conciergerie option to accommodate us. Lovely stay in a lovely hotel and room, however… On checkout day, Monday 11 July, when we came back to pick up our luggage at around 10 PM, we literally got left outside on purpose. The security guard (around 50, black male) and the receptionist (who told us his name was Tim - an Asian man around 30) didn’t want to let us in to pick up our luggage and acted like they had not seen us. We had a flight to take and rang twice but nothing. We even thought the security guard who was on his chair was asleep until a customer decided to open the door to us from outside. When we got in, the two realized we were customers as we had given them the three luggage tickets that Gabriella had gladly given to us. But even then, Tim nonchalantly went to pick up our luggage and literally left them in front of the door while my sister helped and went back to his desk without saying anything. He didn’t want to speak to us from the moment he saw us outside. On our way out, I decided to ask for the receptionist's name, and embarrassed he told me “Tim”, I couldn’t take the security guard's name as our Uber was here but Tim knows exactly who he was working with that night and a lot of customers were present not only in the front of the hotel (sat at a table and smoking) but also in the lobby. This is the worst check-out experience we have ever had (excluding lovely Gabriella) and we are truly disappointed by the service we received from these two people who are literally the last representation of the hotel you get. 5 minutes after we received our luggage, 3 white ladies rang the bell and got in after only 6 seconds!! Being treated in such disrespect by other POC is totally unacceptable, especially for a hotel of this standing. Imagine what could have happened if we were just two random girls needing urgent help at 10 pm while the streets were empty? Very disappointing, please train your two staff to not have a bias against black people (including the black security guard himself)....
