I recently had the pleasure of visiting Grounded London for breakfast, and I must say, it was an extraordinary culinary experience. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was captivated by its inviting ambiance and warm atmosphere, setting the stage for a remarkable morning meal. Today, I am thrilled to share my review of this exceptional eatery. As a connoisseur of breakfast cuisine, I eagerly perused the menu at Grounded London and opted for two classic dishes: French toast and English breakfast. What awaited me surpassed all expectations, leaving me in awe of the culinary expertise and attention to detail that the restaurant exhibited. Every bite was a symphony of flavors, truly setting a new standard for breakfast indulgence. Let's start with the French toast. Grounded London's rendition of this beloved dish was nothing short of perfection. Thick slices of bread, flawlessly cooked to a golden hue, were accompanied by a delicate dusting of powdered sugar. The toast itself was a divine blend of fluffy interiors and a lightly crisp exterior. As I savored each bite, the harmonious fusion of flavors danced on my palate. The addition of maple syrup provided just the right touch of sweetness, further enhancing this heavenly creation. Without a doubt, this was one of the finest French toasts I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Next on the menu was the English breakfast, a dish that Grounded London executed with unparalleled finesse. The plate presented a visually stunning arrangement of traditional English fare, featuring perfectly grilled sausages, expertly cooked eggs, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and buttery toast. Each element was a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs, delivering a symphony of tastes that left me in culinary bliss. The sausages were succulent, and the eggs cooked to perfection. The mushrooms and tomatoes added a burst of freshness to the plate, while the toast served as a delightful accompaniment. The ensemble of flavors was flawless, creating an unforgettable breakfast experience. A noteworthy aspect of Grounded London is its commitment to catering to various dietary preferences, including halal options. As someone who appreciates halal dining, I was delighted to find such a diverse and delicious selection available. This dedication to inclusivity further elevated my experience, allowing me to savor the breakfast offerings with complete peace of mind. Beyond the exceptional food, Grounded London's inviting ambiance and attentive staff added to the overall charm of the establishment. The cozy interior exuded a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. Their attentive service and genuine enthusiasm for the menu enhanced my dining experience, leaving a lasting impression. In conclusion, my breakfast experience at Grounded London was nothing short of extraordinary. The French toast and English breakfast were exceptional, and the availability of halal options added an extra layer of appreciation. With its delectable food, inviting ambiance, and outstanding service, Grounded London has secured its place as a must-visit breakfast spot. If you're seeking a memorable morning meal that exceeds all expectations, Grounded London is the perfect destination. Highly recommended!

I’d heard plenty about this brunch spot and it had been on my radar for quite some time. I mean, there were queues as early as 9am and they had to outsource seats/spaces in neighbouring shops. That set a precedent. I was feeling basic so went for my personal favourites and seemingly popular options: scrambled egg with turkey bacon, fluffy American pancakes with berries, and a latte. The scrambled egg was super fluffy and had a touch of paprika, which gave it a different spice-dimension. It rested on sourdough bread, which was nice and soft, and wrapped beneath strips of turkey bacon - there was a subtle crispness to it, yet maintained a firm texture which contrasted the egg well. The crushed avo was a really nice addition which complimented the dish - if only there was more of that and less salad. The pancakes were nice and big, although pretty dense - I didn’t mind this because it offered an alternative to what I’m accustomed to, and it tasted nice with the berries. I’m not a fan of the crème, so the maple syrup went down beautifully. I do think there could’ve been more fruit, even if the passion fruit was an interesting twist! The staff are super attentive and friendly. The cafe is pretty small considering their popularity, so it is sardine-like. The tables are clean and seats mildly comfortable. The portions are good, although the prices are still a bit steep considering it’s East ends. I really liked Grounded and understand why people venture here (especially repeatedly) - it’s a nice atmosphere with a pleasant experience. I’m fairly confident I can produce the same goods at a fraction of the cost. Do I want to return? Maybe. 8/10.

Nice place overall, but I do not understand the queues… First of all I got a bad impression because we were asked to sit in the café next door, which seemed to be entirely seperate, with a whole different vibe, and a whole different business. No one came to take our order for a long time, but we were not told if we had to order at the till or anything. So I went back to the original café and asked if we could sit there because I saw some free space, and we were sat down at Grounded. I would definitely have wished for some explanation, and honestly sitting in the other café is not the same mood, and we were not served. Service was quick once we sat down, we got the much-talked-about brioche french toast and the shakshuka. I also had a juice that was carrot and apple, but they didn’t advertise that I could’ve gotten carrot + apple + ginger for a lot cheaper, because it was a special that day… Anyways, I also had some green tea. I would say the shakshuka was alright, not incredibly flavourful, and the eggs were regular. I would’ve added some salt though. Sourdough was fine. French toast was sooo soft and decadent, really tasty! Would definitely recommend getting it. The creme fraiche worked so well as a tangy topping, and the berries were nice too. The juice was okay and green tea is green tea. My lifeblood… Overall it’s a nice hipster-y brunch spot with pretty adequate pricing, but certainly nothing to rave about.

I’m appalled by the experience we had at Grounded Whitechapel on Thursday 26th June. My friend has a severe nut allergy and was served a chicken sandwich containing pesto with no allergen warnings listed on the menu or label. This is a serious breach of food safety protocols and allergen labelling standards. When we raised the issue, the waitress called Emma, showed no empathy and offered no apology. We asked to speak with a manager or senior staff member, but were told that no one was available at the time. Instead, staff told us to call the next day, saying their manager Meggie would be expecting our call. We followed their instructions – but no one answered, and we’ve since had no response to our repeated phone calls, emails, or DMs. The staff seemed uninformed about the ingredients in their own food, only validating our suspicions of the pesto once the chef confirmed, but still remained dismissive of the seriousness of the situation. Had we not caught the error after just two bites, the outcome could have been far more severe. We are incredibly frustrated that such a dangerous mistake has been ignored and mishandled. It’s clear that this issue is not being taken seriously. We felt so uncomfortable, disappointed and angry with our experience that we left without touching the rest of our food. If you or someone you care about has food allergies – or if you expect even basic customer service and accountability – I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. This experience ruined the rest of the day for my friend, who was physically sick afterwards, felt anxious and unsafe as a result. Food allergies are not a minor issue – and the way this was handled was not only disappointing, but downright...
