Jubilee revisited: Still cannot deliver, disappointing and overpriced
Update 4yrs later 2/4/18: I have been using another brilliant Jap salon in London but they were shut for Easter so decided to try Jubilee again. This time I tried hair colour instead of the unsatisfactory perm I had 4 years ago. I had hair cut, balayage and deep treatment done by top stylist Yoshie. I showed a picture of the bayalage hair colour I wanted to achieve, but the bayalage technique came out looking like ombre. Nothing like my picture. Price was £328 for extra long hair that I am happy to pay if I get what I wanted. But despite me saying I don't want to shorten my hair, a third of my length was cut off and half my thick hair was thinned off, its so thin and short I feel she chopped it off. I feel I should have been charged for regular long length hair because that was what my hair ended up for my birthday. It was very painful when she washed my hair, very painful and there is no massage. The finished product isn't bad, but absolutely NOT what I ordered but I paid premium price so I expect to get what I asked for. Hence 1 star. I won't be able to go back again. Disappointing and overpriced.
4 years ago: Lovely corner salon with chic interior design, easily accessible by tube with a short walk. Hairstylists sport fashionable hairstyles which is nice. Never inspires me much to get my hair done by someone who needs a hair job as much as I do.
I had a haircut and a digital perm that cost me £200. The haircut was good, not bad but pretty similar to other salons I've been to. However, while I was there quite a few young lads visited the hair salon and left with fashionable haircuts. The colouring service also seems pretty good and above average although I did not try it personally.
I have had a digital perm done in Singapore that gave me gorgeous fat waves which lasted a whole year before. The digital perm is significantly different from other perms which is why I chose to visit Jubilee even though I lived in the Midlands and this would mean an expensive train ticket. Not many English salons use cutting edge oriental technology and Jubilee has the proper digital perm machine. However, the digital perm session I had at Jubilee was much shorter than any perms I have had before and gave me smaller less defined waves that was gone within a month. And this is with me using all the necessary products and blow styling. All in all was...
Read moreVery uncomfortable experience, I rarely give bad comment, this one is the worst I give, for Kumhee. For the whole time, I think we are providing service not her. He never gives a smile and keep giving attitude when we are showing pictures of which style we want. When my boyfriend having a haircut; firstly I sat on the seat empty( for wash hair, there were 4 of them and no one is using) next to him because he wants accompany, but Kumhee said there will be people using and ask me to go back to waiting area, using very rude attitude. I said but no one is using and I will go when people use it. She insists no so I standup and ask if I can sit aside next to him. She said I’m making her uncomfortable if I’m next, I can not stand or sit or do anything beside her and I need to go. I feel very disrespected and very unhappy experience here. Also, we waited 20 minutes even we booked and arrived on time. But why appointment will be canceled after customer arrive late? Which I thinks is unfair. When we finish, Kumhee didn’t say anything, we wanted to so bye and thank you but she disappeared. When communicating the hair style we want, she was vey impatient and not listening because she has her own idea. And when I show her the final hair style we want, she was unhappy and said” you should have told me earlier.” It is really a...
Read moreAfter reading through multiple reviews, her bio on the official website and based on availability, I booked a Gents Cut & Blow-dry for Medium Length Hair with Yuka.
As I have an odd head shape and go for an Asian (Korean specifically) haircut, I’ve not had much luck with barbers and hairdressers in the U.K. except for one guy who I’ve worked with to get the cut right for over about a year. However, after patiently looking at some photos of the haircut I wanted, Yuka absolutely nailed it first time!
I never felt like my hair was being damaged at any point, and she was very efficient and speedy with the haircut. I also really like that Jubilee washed your hair after the haircut as well as before, and the hygiene and cleanliness was perfect. Moreover the service was excellent, especially Yuka, who was really fun to talk to and quite lovely. I definitely recommend her and this salon for anyone otherwise struggling to get an Asian haircut done.
The only improvement I could suggest is to check a couple of times during the cut with the client to ensure you understand what they want. Luckily for me all the lengths and ratios were perfect. Also, the prices are quite high (£45 for mine), however it is 100% worth it if you are prepared to...
