Read moreEasy five stars for Asia, Gianluca and the rest of the team at Capilungo. This is a really charming family run café and wine bar with quite an authentic Apulian Italian personality. To summarise in three points. - It’s perfect for:
An aperitivo (drinks and bites) before an evening out. Think classic Italian wines and cocktails as well as authentic Apulian antipasti.
A memorable pre theatre meal with freshly prepared small plates, regional wines and some of the best desserts you’ve ever tasted to top it off. Other restaurants in Covent Garden tend to have quite heavy 2 or 3 course pre theatre menus so capilungo is perfect if you prefer something lighter and fresher that won’t put you to sleep during your play.
This is easily my favourite café and eatery in London as the quality of the food, the ambience of the setting and the very friendly staff make me come back again and again. It’s a family run place and they really care about their products, their service and their customers. I’ve been to Italy many times and the highlight for me always has been the café culture there; so I’m very grateful to Asia, Gianluca and team for bringing that exact experience to London. This is a totally...
Read moreWhat an amazing little Italian find in london! The food is amazing, cannot fault anything. I have been twice so far, and each time has been exceptional. I now always recommend this place. The food is beautifully fresh, so flavourful and nicely presented. When speaking to the manager, I found out it is a family run and owned eatery linked with a famous bakery in Italy owned by the same family. So the recipes are famous family recipes going back decades!! Which makes everything extra special! I also think the ingredients are all from Italy, but i could be wrong.
On Friday, i had the pizette with artichoke and aubergine and we added burrata and it was incredible. I also had the Amareno cherry Pasticciotto, which came warmed up and was delicious.
I had the iced caffe lecce, which was hands down the best iced coffee. It was nicely sweet, rich but thankfully not bitter at all! The manager took the time to explain to me what was in the coffee as well, which was a lovely touch.
I have enjoyed both visits and look forward to visiting more to try other menu items, and having more iced lecce coffee.
Thank you so much for making a wonderful coffee shop right in the heart of london.
The staff are so lovely, warm and inviting....
