The attitude of the old white haired woman: extremely terrible.
This old woman was a racist and rude person who acted very polite and funny to the white customers but showed extreme unfriendliness towards the Asian-faced customers.
(Excuse me for being rude.) After arriving at the restaurant it was this old woman who served us the menu, because we had a slow internet connection in that location, we didn't have time to do the research, so we ordered the mango rice, curry (I'm not sure I did, because I wanted to but didn't remember mentioning it), crab fried rice, and also ordered two cups of Thai milk tea, intending to eat before ordering anything else, and we were very polite throughout. After taking notes, this old woman took away the menu in a particularly unceremonious manner and after a moment of silence said in a very bad tone: only these? My friend and I were confused for a moment, and then our anger started to rise. But we were both exhausted after a long day of walking and we were going to eat first, We thought the food was mediocre and the portions were too small, but the other restaurants were basically full and we couldn't walk anymore, so we decided to order something else and ordered another plate of mango rice and sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was so terrible that it attacked our taste buds and hit us in the gullet, we had a few bites but couldn't take it and the more we thought about it, the angrier we got. When the old woman came up to give us the bill, I said I wouldn't pay for any of the service and the old woman said arrogantly, "up to you. I couldn't help but complain about the old woman's attitude and the taste of the chicken when another staff member came to settle the bill. I also mentioned that many customers had complained about the old woman's service, but I don't know if she had a back or what, but the old woman stayed in the restaurant and continued to torment the asian customers and other staff. It ended with this kind staff member waiving the chicken and service charge from our meal after my angry accusation and kept apologising to us and I apologised for lashing out at innocent people. I would advise anyone planning to visit Oxford in the future to avoid...
Read moreGood food as always but the service did disappoint me a lot today. I’ve been in Oxford for more than 4 years and no need to talk about thai food, I’ve been in this restaurant for dinner for uncountable times. My families are visiting me this week and this is their first visit since I’ve been in Oxford, they fancied some asian food so I took them to here. I am a hundred percent sure that I ordered coconut rice when placing the order, but the rice came to us did not have the coconut smell at all when I scooped it out so I asked another girl - she realised that it is jasmine rice so offer to swap the rice for us. But the girl who placed our order came out from the kitchen and keep saying to me that “you ordered jasmine rice with me” “no, you ordered jasmine rice” “oh well anyways” with an offensive smile like we are trying to take any advantage? I am SOOOOO sure that I definitely ordered coconut rice cus I ONLY ORDER COCONUT RICE IN THAI RESTAURANTS and my memory was SOOOO CLEAR AND SURE ON THAT. I really can’t accept her ridiculous attitude on this like who the fxxk ordering this much in your restaurant would wanna take advantage on this fxxking bit of rice???? I just want my family to have the great, right, coconut rice I recommended!!!!!! Plut she actually never look up on me but only on her notepad when writting down my order and never doublecheck the order with me so how the fxxk could she behave like there’s nothing wrong with herself? She is the one who placed my order wrong she is the one who placed my order wrong she is the one who placed my order wrong okayyyyy????!!!!! Btw she should say thank you to my kind families who told me not to bother on this and let me still pay the service fee - I would not just let this go this easily if it’s only me and my friends having dinner...
Read moreBangkok House definitely deserves a 5 star for all the three key features of a restaurant. Food Ambience Service
Food : The food is excellent, and the portion is quite generous. There are excellent options for Thai soups, starters and main course dishes. The taste is really authentic and they use genuine Thai ingredients for the food.
Cons - The only shortcoming I found was absence of genuine Thai desserts. This is one aspect that they could consider adding/improving.
Ambience : Of all the restaurants I have visited in Oxford, the aesthetics and ambience of Bangkok House is the best, by a huge margin. The tables, chairs and interiors are of engraved wood with interesting Thai designs. The statues and idols kept on these furniture give an awesome vibe.
Service : The service was incredible. The waiters and managers are all very warm, friendly, helpful and really suggest good items to order if you are not sure of your choice. I have seen a few negative reviews regarding service, but I believe that they went on weekends or public holidays. On weekends and holidays, the service does get a bit slow. Therefore, I would recommend visiting here on any weekday to enjoy the best service.
I will definitely be returning again. Simply enjoyed the...
