I recently dined at Harbour on the 6th and overall had a pleasant experience. While there were a few hiccups along the way, the food and atmosphere made up for it, earning this restaurant a solid four-star rating.
Let's start with the food. The dishes we ordered were mostly delicious and well-prepared. The smoked salmon and caviar were particularly delightful, offering a burst of flavours. However, I must mention that the prices were quite steep for the quality we received. The burrata, in particular, was a little lacking in flavour, which was a bit disappointing. The fish and chips and seafood pasta were well-executed, but again, the high price tag didn't quite justify the overall experience. While the food was enjoyable, it left me wishing for a better balance between taste and value.
Moving on to the atmosphere, I must say it was exceptional. The restaurant boasted beautiful views, creating a serene and inviting ambience. It was a pleasure to enjoy a meal in such a picturesque setting, and it certainly added to the overall dining experience. Whether you're looking for a romantic evening or a serene escape, Harbour on the 6th has got you covered.
Now, let's address the service. On the surface, the service seemed to be good, with attentive staff members eager to assist. However, we encountered a few issues that dampened the experience. Firstly, we received the wrong food on three separate occasions. It was explained to us that it was the server's first day, and multiple apologies were offered, but this still impacted our overall satisfaction. Furthermore, the staff seemed to lack effective communication among themselves. We were asked the same questions multiple times, such as whether we wanted drinks, which indicated a breakdown in coordination. These minor issues could be improved to enhance the overall service quality.
Additionally, I would like to highlight a thoughtful gesture from the restaurant staff at Harbour on the 6th. Upon mentioning that my partner and I were celebrating our anniversary, they surprised us with a decorative plate adorned with macarons. This kind gesture added a touch of warmth and personalized attention to our dining experience, and we truly appreciated the effort taken by the staff to make our celebration feel special.
In summary, Harbour on the 6th is a restaurant with a lot of potential. The food, despite being delicious, was quite pricey for the quality received. The atmosphere, on the other hand, was outstanding, providing a lovely backdrop for a meal. The service had some missteps due to inexperienced staff and communication issues. With some improvements in the service department and a reevaluation of the pricing, Harbour on the 6th has the potential to become a top-notch dining...
Read moreHarBARon 6th in Southampton offers a dining experience that is both visually stunning and satisfying to the taste buds. Although the service had its hiccups, the overall experience was positive and memorable.
One area that fell short was the service. It was evident that the staff lacked effective communication among themselves, as multiple servers approached our table with the same questions. However, it is worth noting that one staff member was on a trial shift and made a few mistakes. While these errors were understandable and did not significantly detract from our experience, they could be improved upon to ensure a smoother dining experience for future guests.
Now, let's talk about the food. The culinary offerings at HarBARon 6th were truly excellent. Each dish showcased a blend of flavours and quality ingredients that left a lasting impression. However, it's worth mentioning that the pricing of the dishes leaned towards the higher end, which may not appeal to everyone. Nevertheless, the excellent taste and presentation of the food made up for the slight overpricing.
The drinks at HarBARon 6th deserve special mention. They were truly exceptional, crafted with care and attention to detail. Whether you prefer a classic cocktail or an innovative concoction, the bar staff delivered in terms of taste, presentation, and overall quality.
One pleasant surprise during our visit was receiving a beautifully presented plate adorned with chocolate writing that said "happy anniversary."" This kind and thoughtful gesture added a personal touch to our dining experience and demonstrated the restaurant's commitment to customer satisfaction.
The ambience at HarBARon 6th was noteworthy, with a pleasant environment that contributed to a relaxing and enjoyable meal. The highlight, however, was the gorgeous view outside. It added an extra layer of charm and made the dining experience all the more memorable.
In conclusion, while the service at HarBARon 6th had some communication issues and a few trial-shift mishaps, the overall experience was positive. The exceptional food, excellent drinks, kind gestures, and scenic view combined to create a noteworthy dining experience. With some minor improvements in service, HarBARon 6th has the potential to reach even greater heights. I would happily return to enjoy another delicious meal and soak in the stunning...
Read moreWe arrived early for our afternoon tea which was booked as a birthday gift. On our arrival we were asked to confirm that it was for my birthday and I gave the voucher code.
We were sat down quickly by the window which was nice and were offered our tea & coffee. The place was quiet at that point and our drinks arrived pretty quickly. The afternoon tea came out and it looked stunning. The food was ok & lots of it! Our waitress came and asked if everything was ok when we received the food and that’s the last time she noticed us. To be fair the place was getting busier, full of customers having afternoon tea & Sunday roasts. We sat there with empty coffee cups & tea pots desperately catching someone’s eyes to ask for refills. When we eventually did ask, we waited and waited and when we asked if they were coming, we were told they were in a queue. We also noticed other customers celebrating their birthdays were given an additional plate, which was not offered to us. Why asked if it’s our birthday?!
When we left we asked what we were supposed to do with car parking and was told to scan the QR code next to the welcome desk, which was not pointed out to us when we arrived. When we scanned it, it says our 3 hour parking starts at that time which obviously doesn’t cover the time when we arrived. So we went to the hotel reception and asked what we were supposed to do. We were told to just pay the difference?! When I said why were we not told to scan it when we first arrived we were told that the QR codes are there for us to see. We were then told in a very rude way that all the signs in the car park says it’s our responsibility etc and that It’s not a car park run by the hotel. It’s not even having to pay for parking when your website simply say parking is complimentary without mentioning about scanning codes that’s the problem. It’s the fact that this is supposed to be a luxury hotel. I had expected the staff to be better trained to deal with customers. Explaining the situation in a friendly way rather than simply telling us it’s our own fault. One of them was the worst reception staff I have ever encountered. She almost ushered us out of the hotel!
Sadly this experience means we won’t be back, even though we now know what to do to get 3 hours of...
