Very disappointing. We were staying in Stratford Upon Avon for the weekend and wanted an Indian takeaway. We decided to get it from the Balti Kitchen as it gets the best google reviews in that area. If this is genuinely the best Indian takeaway then I can only assume the others must be very poor. Firstly when I collected the takeaway it seemed higher in price than I expected and questioned if it included the 10% off for collected orders. I was told yes and being as I had not worked out the exact price I excepted it but thought I would take a menu with me so I could work it out. After returning to our apartment I worked out the price and sure enough I had been overcharged. Then it comes to the food that cost just under £50. I feel that it was clear the order was for four people but they had only put two papadums in. Now although I did not order them in my experience it is normal practice for Indian takeaways to include papadums and an amount relative to the size of the order. However they were the thinnest, hardest most tasteless papadums we have ever had so we left them anyway and the bland chutney we got with them didn't make them taste any better. For starters we all had a chicken chat puri, a simple but very tasty dish. More disappointment was to follow as we opened them and was shocked by the exceedingly small portion made even worse by the fact that this was the most tasteless chicken chat puri any of us had ever eaten. Now for the main course and by this time our expectations were not very high. So when we opened the cartons and they smelt nice and the portions looked of average size we were pleasantly surprised. We had a variety of dishes and hoped that this would make up for the taste of the bland food we had already eaten. However disappointment was the overwhelming feeling again and although there was more flavour to the main course all of the dishes tasted the same. One of the main reasons I like Indian food is the variety of flavours, unfortunately that was not our experience with the...
Read moreThis is the worst curry house in Stratford, don’t waste your money or time at this restaurant, the hygiene level is awful, I found a fingernail in my chicken tikka masala and when I tried to tell the waiter he was very rude and aggressive towards me and my family trying to say it was a spice! I know too dame well it was no spice! Put me right off my meal, I was offered another replacement dish but this too was also awful, the chicken was not fresh and tasted very bland, rubbery and had a bad smell! am pretty sure it was heated in the microwave as it was made so quickly, what makes it worse is me and my wife had very bad food poisoning the following day due to this meal! I don’t usually leave bad reviews but I feel I had to warn others about this discussing place, save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere in Stratford! The worst curry...
Read moreArrived in Stratford upon Avon, quite late. Saw this place was open and requested a table for 5, at 10pm, we were told that they were going to close at 11pm. Opted for mains only. 2 x Exotica, Lamb cooked in a mild mango chutney sauce. Chicken Saag, chicken and spinach, Imli chicken, chicken in Tamarind sauce. Desi mix. Lamb, chicken, seekh kebab and prawns, in medium spicy sauce. Accompniments, plain nans Garlic nans and rice. Very generous portion size and very reasonably priced.
Only slight constructive criticism is the nans are a bit on the small size, 2 of our party had to order an extra nan each, however, the. se were prepared and delivered very quickly.
The food was all delicious and the service was excellent. Highly...
