If you’re coming to Stratford-upon-Avon, this is a MUST. Forget the tourist trail and get amongst the locals in this magical micro pub.
The welcome is beyond warm, the regulars greet you as old friends, the bar staff are knowledgeable and ales are ever-changing, served straight from the barrel, fresh as a daisy.
My wife and I have just returned from a weekend in SUA, and had two fantastic sessions in the Alehouse. Having arrived by train with our dog, the pub is a short walk away, and within minutes of arriving the regulars had arranged a superb local cab driver to get us around the area.
We returned on Sunday for their weekly vinyl afternoons and it was a blast! If you like classics and deeper cuts from the 60s to the 80s this is for you. Three or four DJs from about 2pm til 7. Well-kept ales flowing, craft beers in the fridge, decent wine selection and boutique gins/tonics. Great fun!
Everyone we met in the Alehouse, and in Stratford in fact, was friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had a brilliant weekend away. Didn’t want to come home.
SPECIAL MENTION - Glen, thank you so much for saying the first hello and welcoming us to the Alehouse. You’re a true gentleman.
Lorraine and Bill - for the epic tunes, and the dancing, and the driving and for treating us like old pals. Will never...
Read moreA gem of a find. We noticed this place for the first time last week, whilst walking from Morrison's carpark into Stratford. We're not regular visitors to Stratford, but having discovered it, I felt that I had to bring my two son's back with me this week to investigate. The Alehouse has an intimate atmosphere, where the customers all seem to rub along nicely together, in pursuit of a common passion. The choice is not huge, but it seems to change each time a barrel runs out - I'm sure a new one appeared whilst we were on our second pint. I can imagine that the entire selection would change completely if you were to visit every week or so. The Landlord is very welcoming and hospitable. A lovely place to while away an hour or so on a...
Read moreWe love The Stratford Alehouse! As a local in an area very much aimed at Visitors, this is the friendliest pup, albeit a micro-pub, in the whole of Stratford. There is always an excellent selection of real ale, as well as various ciders and a fridge full of unusual craft beers. There is also wine/prosecco available to non beer drinkers. This is also the best place for live music and hosts regular 'open mic' nights - a rarity in this town. Cash only but very, very reasonable prices compared to the rest of Stratford. Excellent beers, fantastic hosts that know their stuff and equally as friendly to locals & visitors from far & wide. 5 Star review all...
