Good morning. I stayed at the hotel, Holiday Inn Express, 655 White Horse Pike, and before I speak on the bad experience, having been there once and never will go again, let me speak on the good experience.
The booking was done on Friday, went there the same day. The room was clean, the bed was nice, the bathroom was clean, the soap was there, the people who brought the towels were nice and helpful, the people who helped with the checking in process were helpful. The fact we were able to check-out later, at 12:30 was not bad. I do not swim, but my fiancé does, so she swam, and I walked in the pool. We went there to want to get away from the city. Remember we had to come back to the city. So, the clothes which were used for swimming, we washed. I did get the detergent from the front desk staff, and the quarters too from them. I went to do the laundry, this being the same day we are to check-out, and some person who works in the hotel while I am getting breakfast stopped me and stated to me that I was in the past escorted from the premises there. That did not happen since I never been to the hotel there before, in my life. The person, no need to mention a name, told me that he would call the cops on me and requested to know my room number. What was unknown is that I am a gold member with the IHG, I stated such to the person. What was not known to the person is that I worked in hotels so I know and knew the procedure of when approaching somebody regarding if he/she belongs there. The procedure is not to ask what room one is in, but rather if one can show a room key. See, stating simply the room number does not mean one is a present guest. However, to show a room key is a stronger way of proving one's status as a guest. I did not state to the person while dealing in matters of being humiliated that about my status of working in hotels since the point too was to get away from the city and not bring the job there. So, I asked who told him about me having been escorted from the hotel in the past. He stated the staff did. Upon that, I offered to show my I.D. which if it was accepted, a procedure cops use, one's truth can be verified. The person did not want to accept my I.D., never did accept my I.D. So, I knew with the lack of information of the identity of the staff who according to him told him I was escorted from the premises from the laundry in the past, I did not state the room number. The laundry room's door was open. If it was closed like the pool's room one would need an access card to get into the room. So, knowing this and knowing the procedure of asking for one's room key to be shown, and certainly of one's I.D. being shown, which some hotels use to verify when checking one in, I realized the gentleman did not know what the procedures were. I spoke eventually to a staff member, which is why I called this 'nice room, bad staff' and stated I got the detergent from her, I named the person who I spoke with about checking out late, I spoke to her about the fact the GM of the place called me Friday the day of the booking to confirm my status and told me the room will be ready. Note, the GM called me before I went to the hotel which tells me they were about communications. Why did not the person who knew of the hotel's communication policy does not communicate with me properly? What made him feel comfortable to even state I was escorted in the past from the premises. Remember I told you I went to the hotel with my fiancé? Well, I had to get back upstairs and speak with her. So, I did tell the person my room, he looked in a drawer and then saw a paper and then closed the drawer. No mention of an apology, no mention of mistaken identity, no mention of we regret what happened...What did happen after I went back downstairs was that it was confirmed that I can stay to 12:30 PM. All this time, I did not tell my fiancé of the matter in that the purpose of the trip was to get away from drama and things that are senseless like being humiliated while others are eating food and speaking with a person who does not understand the procedures of identifying somebody. Your license is what cops ask for when they stop one in a car. He/she asks too for the registration to confirm that car is registered to the person who has the license. In the case of what happened in the hotel my I.D. would have been sufficient for identification purposes because though it is not a car registered, the hotel can match the name on the I.D. to a guest who is there. The staff member I spoke with, no names need to be mentioned, did not confirm that I was a guest at that hotel but instead when I asked her of the matter, she stated she had something to tend to outside. So, that was dismissive to say the least. I wrote to the GM about this yesterday and there was no response. So, yes the staff who did bring the towels and who did help with bring items asked, were nice...however, the staff who wanted to humiliate one, then shake hands, never offering an apology and stated I can stay to 12:30 when that time was stated, who knew nothing of what work I do, why I was there, could care less about the status of being an IHG member, calls the office of IHG in Georgia, has been a member and was Platinum and went to Gold membership and going back to platinum membership, stayed at several IHG hotels, spoke highly of the staff of other IHG hotels, the situation at the hotel at 655 White Horse Pike was horrible. The Walmart in the area is...

Read moreDon’t let the photos fool you—this hotel may look like a luxury-style Holiday Inn with a pool and jacuzzi, but the reality is dirty, unprofessional, and disappointing.
Before I even arrived, the hotel tried to charge me for the room a day early—as if I’d be missing out on something special. But this place is over 15–20 minutes from the Atlantic City boardwalk, so if you don’t drive, be prepared to spend $40+ on a roundtrip cab just to get to the main attractions.
The breakfast was disgusting. The boiled eggs were old, the scrambled eggs tasted like boxed liquid mix, and the food overall was just thrown together. I skipped breakfast after the first day.
The pool and jacuzzi were absolutely filthy. They only clean the pool once a day, even though it’s open from 9 AM to 9 PM. On my first night, a couple had sex in the jacuzzi in front of guests and children—and no staff came to stop them. The next day, I saw two men and a woman doing the same thing, surrounded by soap foam. I couldn’t use the jacuzzi at all, and I honestly didn’t feel safe even being near the water. That’s beyond unsanitary and a serious health risk.
Housekeeping was just as bad. They came into the room without notice, didn’t clean, just dropped off towels or toilet paper. No vacuuming, no wipe-downs, no care.
I came from out of town hoping for a nice getaway. What I got was a disturbing, sexually charged environment with dirty amenities and staff who clearly don’t care.
Avoid this place. It’s overpriced, far from the boardwalk, and completely unprofessional. Not worth your money or your time.
Response To Your Reply:
Thank you for taking the time to respond, William. However, I respectfully stand by everything I wrote in my original review—and feel it's important to clarify a few things for future guests.
I understand some hotels charge a night in advance, but the way your staff did it was aggressive and lacked transparency. It felt less like a standard policy and more like a tactic to lock guests in early without a proper explanation.
The breakfast, despite being "standard," was not fresh. The boiled eggs tasted old, the scrambled eggs were clearly powdered or boxed, and the presentation showed a lack of care. I ended up skipping breakfast after the first day.
As for the pool and jacuzzi—what I saw with my own eyes was not addressed by staff at all. Multiple guests witnessed highly inappropriate and unsanitary behavior in the jacuzzi, and no one intervened. The water looked filthy, and I ended up not using it at all. In fact, my skin became itchy after being in the pool, which only added to my concern about the cleanliness and maintenance.
Housekeeping entered the room without knocking, did not clean, and simply dropped towels or toilet paper. No vacuuming. No surfaces wiped down. That’s not professional housekeeping by any standard, regardless of how your team is ranked internally.
Lastly, the atmosphere was uncomfortable, and as a solo traveler, I didn’t feel entirely safe. Staff seemed indifferent and disconnected from what was happening around the property.
You may have policies in place, but the reality of what guests experience matters just as much—if not more. Brushing off reviews like mine as “inaccurate” rather than listening and improving does a disservice to future guests. This was not worth the price or the...
