I will start with the positive. The room and hotel was clean. The beds were comfortable. The amenities are good. There is a refrigerator and microwave in every room. They offer a good selection of tv channels and free wifi. They have two computers available in the lobby. They provide free breakfast early in the morning, and complimentary coffee and tea all day. Their indoor pool is moderate sized and clean. They are conveniently located and they offer free parking.
Now for the negative. When we first arrived a young man by the name of Joelle checked us in. He seemed friendly. As he was checking us in, he asked if we were thinking of staying longer than two nights. This question struck me odd, since in all the years I have been staying at hotels, no one has ever inquired if I wanted to extend my stay. I told him I had thought about it, but I couldn't afford to stay another night at that price. I mentioned I saw a cheaper price on line and that if I could get that price, I would consider extending my stay for one night more. He waved his hand and said, I got you. I interpreted that to mean he would give me the third night at the price I quoted to him. But I was mistaken because when it came time to check out, it was the same price I had reserved the two nights for.
I complained to the General Manager of the hotel. She said she would have never agreed to it, and that I would have had to reserve the third night online to get that price, but there were no guarantees I would have gotten a room. When I initially started to speak to her and complain, I was very upset, because I knew Joelle had mislead me and implied I was getting the online rate for the third night. I have to wonder if this is a scam or something. Either way, I was deceived and this incident left a bad taste in my mouth. The General Manager called it a miscommunication, but it wasn't, and I was too upset to recount the details verbatim, until later on when I had finally calmed down, and was able to remember. The General Manager apologized to me and said she would give us a discount on our next stay. As nice as that gesture was, it didn't solve the problem of being bamboozled by Joelle. What should have been done was to revert my credit card for the amount I was lead to believe Joelle was honoring. I dislike being "gamed" or "played" by anyone, much less a reputable establishment as the Choice Hotel brand.
Another turn-off was when we checked-in, we went to Room 216 and the refrigerator was broken, the furniture was worn, we had already unpacked, but we needed a working refrigerator. Joelle changed our room to 217 after getting the manager's approval, so we had to pack up all our stuff and move across the hall. The following morning, we were jolted awake my the motel's cleaning staff. I have never in my entire life come across employees so loud and making such a raucous at 9 or 10 in the morning. Here we were sound asleep and all you heard was yelling back and forth. Not only were they loud, they were noisy too, with everything they did. All you heard was music from a radio, slamming and banging doors and toilet seats. The last thing I had expected was to hear noise at a hotel I was going for rest and relaxation. I had to call down to the front desk and complain, which thankfully, they finally stopped their racket. What doesn't help is that the walls are too thin, so you can hear people in the hallway, or if the television is loud or if...
Read moreThere are several.|On Friday morning, I asked for room service. I was told that there would be none since I wasn't staying for 3 nights. |According to the Choice Hotel website, "To promote an uninterrupted stay, many Choice Hotels® locations offer housekeeping services upon request for shorter visits and after every third night during longer stays. If you’d like more frequent housekeeping or additional towels, toiletries and linens, simply call the front desk."|Both the front desk and housekeeping denied my request. I paid $199/night and had to remove my own towels and garbage (and put them outside the door for fresh towels and garbage bags AND make my own beds. I was on a mini vacation with my grandchildren to StoryBook Land and live 2.5 hours away. I could have made it a day trip and stayed at my own house and taken care of my garbage, towels and bed making. I am also a Hilton Honors member, I could (and will) stay at the Hampton literally across the parking lot the next time.|The indoor pool was so cloudy that you literally can’t see to the bottom of it. My granddaughter’s goggles went under the water and standing on the ledge, I couldn’t see where they went, because I couldn’t see to the bottom of the pool. When my grandchildren went underwater, I couldn’t see them until they came back up. Needless to say, this made me very nervous and our pool time was shortened. I don’t know anything about pool maintenance (was it cloudy because there was too much or too little chemicals?) but obviously whomever takes care of the pool doesn’t know anything about pool maintenance either.|On Saturday morning, we went for breakfast at 8:30am (breakfast ran from 6am to 9am). The hotel was obviously very busy. In the chafing trays, there was one piece of sausage and 4 pieces of very sorry looking eggs. I asked the attendant if they could bring out more food. More eggs were brought out, but I was told that there was no more sausage. There were at least 15 people who had arrived at the same time as I who did not get any hot food.|Because there was no room service, the room was out of tissues and toilet paper. When I went to the front desk and asked for some, I was told by the front desk person that she was “too busy” to help me. The two of us were the only two in the lobby.|The side door leading from the parking lot to the hotel had a key swipe; however, the several times that I used that entrance the door was able to be opened without swiping the key – just walked right in. As a single woman who was travelling with two small children, this lack of security made me very uncomfortable.|I am a Choice privileges member. I am also a Hilton Rewards member. The next time I take my grandchildren on a mini vacation to StoryBook Land (we do two a year), I will stay at the Hampton literally in the same parking lot rather...
Read moreI have never in my life experienced such bad customer service. 1st we try to check in, the lady is yelling and arguing with my husband saying our card was declined and we showed her there was way more money in the account than what was being charged. She kept telling us she had already checked in 16 people so there was nothing wrong with her system that it was something wrong with our account. Come to find out, when I open my account all the way, she charged our card SIX times so Wells Fargo flagged it for fraud. I asked her how many times did she charge our card, she said once. I showed her my account with the six attempted charges and she says to me, do you want to put it on another card. Like excuse me. My fraud detection text came through and I had to say it was me trying to charge the money and it allowed me to try again and it went through. We received no apologies or anything. We get to our room and then got something to eat. After eating, my husband went to the bathroom to shower. He gets ready to get in and realize that there’s hair all in the shower so I walk to the desk to let them know. The same lady comes to me. She tells me housekeeping won’t be in until 9 in the morning. So I’m like, you’re telling me we can’t shower until 9am? She gets an attitude and asks me what’s wrong with the shower. So I tell her again about the hair. She tells me she’ll get it with a glove. She comes to the room and, still with an attitude, asks me where is it. I respond saying, in the shower in the bathroom. She goes in and comes out and with the attitude tells me, “go check it” I tell her never mind, we’re good. We’re going to find another room because her customer service is POOR. She walks out and slams the door. If you come across this hotel, RUN the opposite way! The young guy working was apologetic and very calm. Had we dealt with him, I would’ve considered changing rooms for the night but we had the nasty, rude lady. We got our belongings and found...
