Great experience for the whole family! Kids will love this and itās not hectic at all. Parking is easy and itās a short walk through the building with the bathrooms and then behind to the left across the street you will see the trains. Keep walking up the rail trail path and turn at the sign, the first train car is the ticket and gift shop area. The train car is warm and clean with ample seating for you and your family. Four people can sit facing each other and the seat backs can flip on some to change the seating. The scenic view is really the houses and industrial area between Adams and North Adams but itās a train ride that includes Mrs Klaus and Santa himself! The kids and family can take photos with them and each child receives a coloring book as a toy. The stop in Adams provided Free (included in your ticket) hot chocolate, sāmores and a chance for a photo op in front of the train! The ride back Santa and Mrs Klaus depart at there own station and itās all in reverse back to the station! Itās worth the ticket if you are looking to get into the holiday spirit and take your kids to see Santa! I tried to include photos to show the experience in its entirety! You can also purchase a Christmas tree at the lot during your stop but you have to go to another location to pick it up about 10 minutes from the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI see some negative reviews here so Iāll address their issues first. The views .. they are not spectacular. If you are looking for that this may not be for you. Itās a track out and back. So donāt expect some long mountain journey .and yes they stop at the crossing without gates to flag traffic and keep everyone safe . It a nice slow trip so if you want speed try Amtrakš¤·š»āāļøš
These cars are vintage and amazing ,RDCs are unique and wonderful bits of history. Being able to Ride in one was a great experience. But you know what comes with old historic trains ? Smaller spaces and old accommodations. We had plenty of room ourselves so it wasnāt an issue . And yes the AC isnāt comparable to what you may have in your car . Itās a 1950s car. Expect it to be old .
Now if youāre a train fan getting to experience an RDC will be the highlight ! Friendly and knowledgeable volunteers as well. We loved the experience. Just do your research and make sure this is what you are looking for . š but I do highly recommend giving it a try . Just know what to expect . The history and riding the way our parents and grandparents did...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIts a volunteer run event and I'm not taking any thing away on their effort. The staff is great but... I wish I had read the reviews before I traveled over 2 hours to experience it. Its a 20 minute ride one way and even shorter on way back on same track. It is not one hour. The 11 am train ride departed at 11:20 am and got back at noon. Basically see peoples cluttered up back yards and industrial buildings. There are mountain colors but you have to really wrench you neck to see above the tree growth by tracks to see. The window train glass windows were cloudy and the train cars musty smelling. I would not recommend this activity if your looking for fall foliage as its waste of time and money. If your are in Adams MA. bypass the train trip and travel Mount GreyLock State...
