Clarion Inn is where the bugs are loyal and the staff is not. Five stars for the roaches, zero for the humans.
I wouldn’t wish my experience here on anyone. I checked in expecting a safe, clean room but was met with a bug-infested, unlivable space. There were spiders and multiple insects, and no one at the front desk or in management seemed to care. I had to cut my stay short because the conditions were simply unacceptable.
To make matters worse, even my cat became visibly scared, and he usually loves chasing anything that moves. I noticed a few bugs on the first day and tried to be understanding since I live in the country and know how it can be. But by the fourth day, we had seen dozens of roaches. It was disgusting. No one should have to live that way.
I’ll never forget when the oversized roaches flew and landed on my shoulder. Each time it happened, my soul left my body like I was in a horror movie. I have never packed my bags so fast in my life.
As if that weren’t enough, the way the staff handled everything only made the experience worse. The current manager, a Hispanic woman, was extremely rude and strict. Unlike nearby hotels like the Choice, Quality, or Country Inn, or even others I stayed at such as Hilton that kindly let me check in early, she refused and acted like I was a burden. Years ago, this hotel had a Black woman as manager who was incredibly kind and welcoming. I used to stay here often because the staff treated me like family. That is no longer the case. This new manager has completely ruined the experience. A loyal customer is now permanently lost.
I also asked the front desk help, white woman named Dana, to assist with the bug issue. She told me to wait and promised to help, then carelessly left and never returned. That was a terrible way to treat a guest, especially under those conditions.
What I don’t understand is why someone would work in hospitality if they have no interest in being hospitable?
The only person on staff who showed any kindness or professionalism was Marlow, who worked the night shift. She was the only one who treated me like a human being, showed empathy, and actually tried to help. She even got me moved to a different room, but unfortunately even that one had roaches and spiders.
On top of all this, the air conditioners in every room had filthy filters. I had to call maintenance each time just to get them cleaned so I could breathe comfortably. It became a constant issue throughout my stay and made everything even more frustrating.
I’ve submitted evidence to my financial institution, Priceline and will also be filing formal complaints with Consumer Affairs and public health authorities to ensure this doesn’t happen to others.
If you’ve ever wanted to scream while a roach lands on your shoulder and the staff could care less, Clarion Inn has...
Read moreI was part of a security team working at Augusta National GC prior to and during The Masters Golf Tournament. My teammate and I were originally booked into a not even third world quality establishment in Augusta, but fortunately got transferred to this hotel. The PROs are many, the CONs few:|PRO:|1. Room was clean and everything was well-maintained. Lights, electrical outlets, A/C, plumbing all worked well. Bed was comfortable. TV had decent channels.|2. As our shift at ANGC started at 3:30 a.m., we were shuttled to the course and departed every morning at 3 a.m. The night manager, Lashawn, realized after the first morning that she needed to have breakfast prepared by 2:30 every morning, and she did so with a super-positive attitude! And the breakfast quality was excellent: Eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, pretty good coffee, and juices were on the menu, and tasted great!|3. This hotel is located within easy walking distance of a supermarket, and two very good non-chain restaurants (Aiken Fish House and The Feed Sack, both reviewed separately), plus some tolerable fast-food joints and a below average-quality Applebees.|4. There was an absence of dodgy characters loitering around the hotel, which was a big positive!||CON:|1. Hotel WiFi wasn't compatible with Apple operating systems, which was surprising considering that the majority of smartphones are iPhone models. This made making additional travel arrangements somewhat difficult, as cellular coverage for T-Mobile was not strong. (There wasn't a computer available for guest use, either, but I eventually figured a work-around.)|2. The second night of my stay, a protracted argument between two guys in the room next door turned into a very loud shouting match and then a physical fight. I was just waiting for gunfire to erupt, based on the yelled threats. The walls are so thin, I could hear these dudes heavy breathing in between the commentary. When the fight moved outside to the parking lot, the local police arrived, and arrested the participants. No further dust-ups occurred during the rest of my...
Read moreThey say they have problems with my card & they didn’t get the money & it was returned to me. Money was never returned to my card. They charge a $50 incidental fee & will tell you after check out it goes back to your card if you don’t pay cash & then you have to pay it over & over with each reservation. When trying to explain nothing has gone back to your card & the incidental was already paid, we were told we could not reserve a room anymore & have to leave the next morning after being here over a month & paying religiously every day!
Front desk reception consists of mom & daughter which is a conflict in the workforce to begin with. We have 2 children & a baby due any time now, & they tell us to find somewhere else to go that it’s not their problem! Never met such inconsiderate people in my life, we’ve been staying here over a month paying a good bit of money just to be put out for no reason & nowhere to go.
Edit after Hotel Manager response: Mr. Henry is the owner of the hotel & Adrianna is the manager, she works same shift as her daughter up front. When I expressed to Adrianna that we had nowhere else to go & she was making us leave for no reason with 2 kids & a baby due any day, she responded with “that’s not my problem” & when talking to Mr. Henry, he stated it was Adrianna’s call & wasn’t willing to do or say anything. We stayed at this hotel for almost 2 months as this is where we’re was living. To be done like that for no reason is unacceptable. We stayed to ourselves & didn’t cause any problems. Was not fair or right to us or our children! The problem wasn’t addressed while we was there because they didn’t want to hear anything we had to say, so I’m certain nothing will be addressed now that we aren’t...
