Went in on Saturday for dinner and ended up walking out without eating. We were promptly greeted by a hostess and seated. Our server, Mark, was prompt to take our drink order and delivered the drinks when he returned to take our food order. That's when the waiting game begins. The dining room was fairly empty at the time so I can't understand why this situation occurred. We waited, and waited, and waited some more. Mark returned to the table several times and apologized and we continued to wait patiently. After about 45 minutes (yes, 45 minutes. Mind you, we ordered two sandwiches, nothing elaborate), I summoned Mark and asked him if the kitchen had lost our order since the dining room had begun to fill and many tables that were seated after us appeared to be enjoying their meals. He said "no, I can assure you they did not lose the order, I am not sure what they are doing". We waited about5-10 more minutes and got up to leave and asked for the manager. Mark introduced us to the manager who asked where we were seated and seemed perplexed. At this time a young bearded man (probably an expediter) approached us where we were standing and speaking with the manager and said this is your food (he was carrying a tray). He began to tell the manager that they were slammed with several of the same kind of orders (fish sandwich and hot honey chicken sandwich) at the same time and the cook was overwhelmed. He also became so defensive that the manager told him "you have to calm down". Needless to say I looked at the manager and requested a check for the drinks, she said "I don't need to give you a check" and we left without even an apology. Unbelievable! Those are the facts, do with the information what you wish. By the way, we moved on to Metro Diner where we were treated as if our...
Read moreWell another trip to Aiken took me to another wonderful place for dinner. The feed sack was recommended by close friend who we met at the restaurant. My wife, my friend, and I immediately remarked about the atmosphere and the wonderful old world look inside of the restaurant. The staff cordsley greeted us when we came in and took us to our seats immediately as there was very little weight we had come early then evening prior to their main rush. Walking through the restaurant dining area I noted all the unique decor items you could spend a good 20-30 minutes alone to look at. I also noted an outside dining area but didn't go back to take a closer look. We didn't have any appetizers but dough right straight into our meals after ordering drinks. My wife and my friend both ordered the swordfish and I ordered the short ribs. The swordfish was placed the top of bed of grits with the side of steamed broccoli. The short ribs came on a bed of mashed potatoes with the side of succotash. Both dishes were just utterly flavorful. Beef ribs melted in your mouth and the swordfish was firm and steak like according to my wife. We ended the meal sharing this wonderful peach cinnamon shortcake. It was a wonderful way to end dinner. All through the evening our server Maddie insured we were well attended to and seem to always appear at just the right moment to refill our drinks and to check that everything was sour satisfaction. Please indulge yourself if you're new to the area or if you're in town visiting as The Feed Sack will certainly complete your...
Read moreWhat went right: seating was quick, the two appetizers we ordered for the table were served hot and were delicious. We got the deviled eggs and pot- stickers. What went wrong: after our appetizers, the wait for our meal was prolonged, (usually not a problem or unexpected when food is prepared fresh) to the point an individual I believe to be the manager walked up and apologize for the extended wait after we got to go box and we’re leaving. When the meal finally came out. It was obvious that our food had been sitting under the heating lamp in the kitchen for quite an extended period of time. Which was confusing considering how many employees were walking around chatting with and sitting with customers. The plates were hotter than the food. To be honest, the condiments( honey mustard and ranch) ( I ordered the chicken fingers) was warmer then any of the food for the three meals ordered, my wife’s, daughters, or my own. The disappointment was overwhelming. up to this point this was far and away my favorite restaurant in Aiken. I truly looked forward to and anticipated the opportunity to take my family here. I can honestly say I would not and will not recommend this establishment to any one at this time and will not be frequenting this establishment again. I can find a better use for what amounted to...
