I just have to give a shout out to the Quality Inn on Richland Avenue in Aiken, South Carolina. My business has kept me on the road a lot in the past year. I have been using Travelocity and Hotwire to book the cheapest rooms I can find. When I pay $50 per night for a hotel I don't expect it to be the Four Seasons. Most of the hotels I have stayed in have met my expectation of a decent-sized clean room and a bed. The Quality Inn in Richland definitely surpassed my expectations. The room was clean - not just not dirty. As soon as I walked in the door I noticed the room smelled nice. It wasn't overpowering or perfumy, just very clean. The bed was quite comfortable and I had four nice, thick, dense pillows. They had free Wi-Fi , and a fantastic continental breakfast included in the price of my stay. It wasn't just a few pastries, juice, and coffee. There were also scrambled eggs, sausages and a waffle maker, fresh fruit, and yogurt.
The staff was exceptionally friendly. Not in the "my employer requires me to issue a cheerful-sounding greeting to all customers" way; they just all seemed to really enjoy being there.
The only problem I had with my reservation was that Hotwire charged me in January when I booked the rooms, but it didn't show up at the hotel that I had paid. I paid again at the front desk, but once home I checked my records and confirmed that I did pay at the time I booked. I called them this morning to let them know that I had been double charged. They apologized and immediately charged back the second payment to my card. I was able to confirm that the money had been returned to my account within just a couple of minutes of calling them. It took me maybe five minutes on the phone to get the issue resolved. I am not sure why this hotel is listed as a 2-star hotel. They have a pool, a fitness center, and a full continental breakfast. I booked it initially because it was the cheapest option that did not have bad reviews. When I come back to Aiken next year for the same convention I intend to book a room at Quality Inn on Richland Avenue whether or not it is the lowest-cost...
Read moreI rarely write reviews and usually read them with a grain of salt as people have a wide range of expectations. This property was by far the worst in my two week road trip where I stayed in 10 different hotels in 5 different hotel chains. And this was the most expensive room of the trip!||Two rooms were booked in August 2022 for a one night stay in April 2023. This is a busy time in the area and this was the only hotel that had cancellation by January 1, 2023 and payment upon arrival.||Before we arrived the rooms were charged to my account for a price slightly higher than that booked. Fortunately the small difference was credited and we were not charged again upon arrival.||This was by far, the dirtiest room and grounds I have had to endure since 2012! If there was another option I would never has subjected myself or my friends for even this one night. The floor in the bathroom was dirty with hair and dust in the corners. The tub and shower area was full of mold. The mirrors were splattered with who knows what. The ceiling light had lots of debris in it and the ground would have been more comfortable to sleep on than the bed. There was trash all around the stairwell leading to the second floor.||Felt bad for the gentleman who was at the desk when we arrived in early evening and there when we left the next morning. He was unable to look into the prepayment situation and there was no manager available nor would there be before we left.||There was a broken toilet next the the soda machine and the ice machine was not working, though I would not have used it anyway due to it's condition. | |This property is doing a disservice to the Quality Inn name and my friends said they would not be looking to book QI in the future.||I was SO embarrassed to have subjected my travel companions to this. I have been in the travel industry for 35 years and thought I had seen it all. I was mistaken. And let's not even talk about the...
Read moreI travel into Aiken for work about 15 weeks/weekends each year and have stayed at this hotel countless times over the past 5 years. I have stayed in all kinds of hotels/motels throughout the Southeast (including 5 or 6 different places in Aiken) while traveling for work and as far as quality deals go, this one is right up there.
The staff is friendly and polite and the rooms are what you would hope for based on the price. The Quality Inn/Choice hotels bed and bath linens are soft and made from good material (unlike other mid-level priced hotels I've stayed in) with COMFORTABLE beds and plenty of pillows. The wi-fi is good as long as there aren't a lot of people logged in (true of any public wi-fi), the TVs are nice with a good selection of channels including HBO. I can't speak to the lounge/pool room/bar onsite as I've never been in there, but it seems to stay pretty busy so they must be doing something right and I've never paid attention to the pool so I can't speak to that either. The rooms close to the lounge can be a little loud some nights due to the bar music, but I can sleep through anything so it doesn't bother me and it's not every night.
The location is nice being right next to several shopping plazas and there are several fast food and "sit down" restaurants as well as a Wal-Mart within walking distance.
If you stay and have any problems, they are immediately attended to. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a clean room with a great bed for a good rate. Best deal in...
