This is a 2-Star Property + 1-Location+1-Outstanding service. No bed bugs in Room 208. If you think this place is overpriced, you haven't done much price-shopping in Alameda 94501. This isn't Oakland. People come to Alameda for a reason: ITS SAFE. I stayed here for 8 nights in August 2013 at $76 per night. Nothing else in Alameda comes close to the price point; Extended Stay America is over $100 with tax, the dated and onery Marina Village Inn is over $125; and both those competitors are off the bus line, you'll need a rental car. Location: This is a great spot for the Bay Area traveler, the 51A and other AC Transit bus stops are literally in front of the motel, its an 8-Minute ride to 12th Street BART, so you can explore the Bay by mass transit and always get back to your room without difficulty. Service: The folks that run this Rodeway Inn (it used to be a Days Inn, was something else before, its a very old property) are really, really nice. English is their 2nd language, but everyone I met--front desk staff, room cleaning crew, maintenance crew--were all really nice, friendly, and willing to help. The rooms are dated but the furniture is comfortable and very clean. The mini-fridge/freezer & microwave worked great. Shower was immediately hot, AC unit blows cold, bed was comfortable. There are hundreds of channels on the DishTV Satellite box, including comedy channel and HBO. Safety: During my stay I left thousands of dollars of sporting goods, laptop and bluetooth headset in my room, and nothing grew legs and walked away. Try that in Jack London Square or Motel 6 Embarcadero; if you're desperate to save $ and this place is too expensive, consider what your personal safety is worth: you can stay across the Estuary, but don't leave anything in your room or your car when its parked. This place is safe, has great friendly service, is in a good location, has great WiFi, and is tremendous value for the $. I will stay here again, assuming the management remains the same.

August 2014 update: Just spent 9 nights @ $99/night in Room 111, no significant changes. Manager and staff still exceptionally pleasant, Maid cleaned room daily even though she didn't have to (still not much English spoken). Pool was open, functional and enjoyed by many children, but closed promptly at 5pm so no disturbance. Still the best bang-for-the-buck in Alameda, cheaper than most AirBnB places without the security deposit hassle. Since Marina Village Inn & Extended Stay have both raised rates $129 a night, Rodeway Inn remains the best...

I checked into my room at 3pm 7/30/2024. Once I swipe the keycard to enter the room the smell of DOG hit my nose really bad. It was repulsive. I seen an older lady with a clipboard so I asked her if she was the manager she said “no I’m house keeping..” I said okay nvm then I’ll go downstairs and speak with check in & she said “ oh just tell me. I can fix it” I told her about the smell & the VERY FIRST thing she says was” if you want I can give you a refund we are completely booked so I can’t switch you out rooms..” I see a can freshener in her hand so i asked her to spray the room and she said” oh that won’t help..” I’m like oookkayyy. The vibe was rude and extremely obtuse. I told her I didn’t book the room so let me make a call and she said” okay well let me know in 10 min. So I can still give the room to some else..” I was like sure.. I decided to stay due to me having the long drive to the bay and this was literally my first time in alameda ( the Bay Area period!! I was so excited to be there.. smh) not even 3 minutes later she’s knocking on the door asking me if I would like to stay so I said yes then she offered a room ( another guest HAD JUST left) i would have to wait for the maids to clean it so I politely declined AND THEN she offers to sprinkle baking soda on the carpet and proceeded to tell me that it might help with the smell due to the carpet getting shampooed the previous day. I declined at this point I’m exhausted. I slept woke up later in the day ( night time 10 pm exactly) I wake up to roaches EVERYWHERE ALL OVER THE SINK , MICROWAVE, Dresser, and MOST OF ALL THE BED!! They were crawling all over me!! The most repulsive thing I’ve ever experienced. I went down stairs told the night shift check in clerk ( she was such a sweetheart) but there wasn’t much she could do since it was late in the day but she did WRITE down my complaint. I went back to the room and threw away my 1 shirt that had fell on floor after finally reading the reviews about roaches and bed bugs!! I I threw away so much. didn’t want to bring them with me! I came home took of the clothes I was sleeping in at the room and threw those away and took a shower before relaxing in my own bed ( 2 hour drive back home ) I didn’t even want to be out there anymore after that. Never ever returning...
