This place is in desperate need of a remodel. We were stranded in Anacortes due to a ferry outage and decided on this place as my wife had a decent experience from a separate ferry outage months before.
At first glance the main area of our room (Room 107) was pleasant, but we just stepped in to drop off our bags. When we returned later from hanging out around town to kill time I started to notice some disturbing things:
1) The shower maintenance and cleanliness was severely lacking, quite obviously done by an inexperienced person-likely to save money. The caulking was heavily and hastily applied unevenly which not only looked horrible but allowed water to pool over time and give off an unappealing stain. Our room had a jetted tub that had been hastily resurfaced in the past and not properly maintained as there were large scratches all over the standing portion. The shower curtain had likely not been cleaned for a while as there was light-black staining on the inside. The wall tiles also needed a good scrubbing as some grout staining was becoming evident. Suffice to say I did not use the shower.
2) The mattress was heavily used and needs to be replaced immediately as the left side I laid on sunk in completely and was very uncomfortable. It has springs and is likely very old as they are very worn out and uneven. To add my wife and I found two small, light yellow stains on the sheets.
3) Looking bit closer I noticed that the housekeeping staff hadn't really attempted to vacuum around the furniture, most notably in the gaps between and behind the lounger and nightstands.
4) As we were gearing up to leave I came across a small gathering of sugar ants that had formed on the bathroom floor overnight.
From the general appearance of our room and reading past reviews it seems as though the owners put very little time or money into the proper upkeep of some of the rooms. I found it funny that there were two gratuity envelopes left in our room listing our housekeeper's name simply as "Housekeeping" on both. To be honest, I wouldn't want my name attached to that room either. I find it very surprising that they allowed such a room to be occupied when major renovations are clearly needed, especially at $120/night.
From this experience I would strongly not recommend staying here until the deficiencies listed above are rectified.

Tried to charge me $100 for the smallest bit of makeup left on 3 towels - this was the absolute worst check out, yes check OUT experience of all time. Got a call from the front desk shortly after I checked out and the front desk guy was telling me that I stained all the towels in the room and they would need to charge me $100 for them, WHAT?! I immediately pushed back and told them how ridiculous that is because never in my life have I been charged for leaving the smallest bit of makeup on a towel at a hotel, air bnb, motel, etc - once I pushed back he totally switched his tune and said that they would try to get the stains out but if they couldn’t then they would have to charge me. I also want to emphasize the timeline here that they said they would have to charge me for the stains, then switched it to if they couldn’t get the stains out then they would have to charge me I told them that I know exactly what the towels looked like and that throwing them in a regular load with some bleach would do the trick because that’s why hotels have white towels and white sheets right? To bleach the hell out of them if they’re left stained - I went back to the Inn and made them show me the condition of the towels and I will post a photo with the review so you can see how absolutely ridiculous this whole thing was. Fast forward 30 minutes and I get a call that they were able to get the stains out because DUH I knew they would be able to but even if they hadn’t, trying to charge someone $100 for old, dingey towels that would be MAYBE $20 to replace was ridiculous. Anyway, they called and let me know they were able to get the stains out and would be REFUNDING me for the $100 charge which means they charged me BEFORE they even attempted to get the stains out. Absolute scam and seems like they’re trying to squeeze money from customers to upgrade their poor facility. Along with all of this when I initially got to my room (solo female traveler got in late at night) I arrive to my room and the window is totally open and unsecure which made me feel uneasy but I needed to get to bed as I had a race the next morning - but had it not been for the check out fiasco I would have never even written a review or been worried about that. This place is a joke and poorly ran.

Absolutely Disgusting – Avoid at All Costs! This was hands-down the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. 1 star is being generous. The towels and bed sheets were filthy—stained and clearly unwashed. Bathroom had rusty shower rod, dusty fan intake, stained sink. The room phone was broken, lampshade was also stained. We didn't notice these things until later on because we had just checked in and then met up with family. We didn't start noticing these things till we were getting ready for bed. It was absolutely revolting and we felt so uncomfortable the whole night we decided to check out earl the next morning. To make matters worse, at check-in the front desk staff made an inappropriate and offensive comment to my wife, implying she’d be making stains in the bed with her “husband.” (We are a lesbian couple, and the assumption was both ignorant and degrading.) Completely unacceptable and unprofessional especially when our mom was right there. We immediately contacted management who claimed they would authorize a refund through Expedia. That was a lie—they turned around and declined the refund and have since avoided all responsibility. We’ve filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, only to find out this hotel isn’t even accredited—not with the BBB or any hotel regulation authority. We’re now contacting the health department because the level of cleanliness and conduct is beyond neglectful—it’s a health and safety risk. DO NOT STAY HERE. You've been warned. Their accolades are from 10-15 years ago and does not represent the property now.

Bill and Virginia Worst people to deal with I have been going there 4 to 5 times a year normally get others that answer the phone and know how to listen and take information. I called to make a reservation I already have my information on file I originally spoke with Virginia spelled out my name "nope not on file" i explained i have stayed and have all my information every time i call and is a smooth process I ask to check again spell out my last name nope i said o-l-s-e as in echo-n nope i ask her to spell back my name she says O-L-S-O-N. I explained i have spelled it out three times now and explained its spelled with an "E". OK not off to good start but were not done yet she confirms the information on file I explained that's my old information and all information has been updated long ago she says well it isn't here i asked her to look up by phone number start telling her the number i get a "mhmm" like you can tell she Isn't taking the information or caring. she's nope not here. That's very difficult to believe she then starts to give attitude I explained you don't speak to a customer that way how do you expect a small independent motel to do business when you treat customers that give you business and when how you get customers is word of mouth . The attitude from Virginia was despicable would not allow me to speak very condescending. I ask when the manager is going to be in and she said she was the manager i said how is that possible that you are the manager the way you are speaking to customer she than hung up so i called back and asked how a manager deals with resolution by hanging up on customer she says don't call back here again and hangs up a second time. So I call back a third time and I get Bill says he's the morning manager but yet its afternoon? okay so I explained that i'd like the owners contact information nope giving that out I ask how do i hold Virginia accountable for such horrible service. So he said he'll take down the information and forward it off. I explained to him from the start every time i start explaining he'd get defensive over her I asked are you here to write this down to forward off or are you here to defend her every action he did not seem to care. So we get to the point of him looking me up he finds the same information under my name so i ask him to look me up by phone number the same phone number I gave to Virginia what do you know i am there. His excuse is it was the computers fault that same information wasn't there 20 minutes ago I explained that information in computers don't disappear then re-appear 20 minutes later he tells me that I don't know that. I explained that I do with an education and career as an IT Administrator would quality me to state that would be wrong and it came down to that Virginia just didn't take my information and didn't care what the customer was telling her. At that point he went the way of Virginia and stated well we don't have to do business with you if we don't want to I told him after the first phone call I wasn't planning on it and explained I will be talking to the owner and including him in this as well as he had no attempt at customer resolution just defend Virginia at all cost. Due to horrible management will never be returning there which is disappointing as other staff are very friendly and helpful. Will be finding out the owners to inform them. As a Canadians that live so close to the border word of mouth is good for companies like this too bad management...
