I do not know what the expectations of the people who have stayed at this property and left great reviews are, but this property did not meet my expectations based on the reviews I read. It was unclean, and by unclean I mean that you cannot trust that housekeeping changes the sheets between guests and there was a urine stain on the bathroom floor in one of our rooms. It is also in a rough neighborhood full of dive bars.||||Here was my experience:||Check-in:|| Lobby was okay, but I was immediately taken aback by the fact that the front desk staff was sitting behind a glass wall and you have to push your ID and credit card through a pass through like at a drive up bank teller window. This does not immediately tell a visitor that this is a friendly and guest oriented establishment. It tells visitors that they are in an area where a hotel clerk needs to be protected by a glass wall.||We had two rooms that we prepaid through Expedia, but they ran my credit card for|| $142 per room as a refundable deposit for each room. I asked if it was for incidentals as most hotels hold some money on your card for things like room service or coffees etc. Nope, I was told it was held in case of damages to the room. Again, not something one would expect of a hotel, at least not any hotel I have ever stayed at.|| The person who checked us in was personable, polite, and engaging, but he took a color scan of both sides of my credit card including signature and CCV. I watched him do this and I said I was highly uncomfortable with this. He told me the hotel requires he do it "for their security". I asked why they needed to do this and he responded that he did not know and offered to delete the scan. I responded that yes he should delete the scan and he turned the computer screen toward me so I could witness him delete the images. I mentioned that this happened on an Expedia review and Sid (the manager or owner, I presume) stated that they don't scan people's credit cards in a response. I want everyone to know that this untrue, they do take color scans of both sides of your credit card, I watched them do it, and the security footage in the lobby will show it. I am so upset by Sid's claim that they don't scan credit cards and his implication that I am wrong, that I have opened an additional complaint with Expedia. I watched them do it and to be told that they don't is a flat out lie.||The room:|| When we entered our room, we noticed a slight odor like there was plumbing problem in both of our rooms.|| About 5 minutes after we arrived, I pulled the covers back on one of the beds in my room and a dirty pair of women's underwear fell out. I immediately brought this to the attention of the front desk and he came and remade the bed with clean sheets and blankets. I also informed Expedia and they also gave us a partial refund for one night. That was an appropriate response, but this does not change the fact that it happened and we could not trust housekeeping.|| The beds were very firm. The bedding was okay but they do not provide adequate blankets. The blankets are paper thin and each bed was only provided one.||The Property and Cleanliness:|| The rooms are not clean enough. The flooring is a combination of laminate and tile and as such they need to be mopped/swept/vacuumed regularly. Housekeeping is not doing this. The floors were so dirty that we had to wear shoes at all times in both rooms. One of the bathrooms in our rooms was urine stained, you could see the urine was still there and still in the grout. A mop would have cleaned this up easily.|| We let housekeeping come in once during our 3 night stay, they remade the beds and gave us new towels. They did not take out the trash, renew coffee, sweep the floors, or refresh soap in the bathroom.||Location:|| In October of 2018 this hotel reopened as the Parkside Inn with renovations. It was previously the Crystal Inn. The renovations are budget grade and appear to have been done quickly and are already showing extensive wear.|| The doors and walls are dirty from use and fixtures are broken already. The tile has rough edges. || This hotel is in a rough area. The neighborhood is not a great one. In a previous review on Expedia Sid responded and said the neighborhood was safe and "there are cameras everywhere". While there are cameras everywhere, it is because they need to have them. After our check-in and dirty underwear experience, trust was broken so we began examining the area and the previous hotel reviews. There was a homicide in the parking lot of this hotel in January 2017 before the new owners took over. So no, it is not in a good neighborhood and this hotel is calling itself the Parkside Inn, implying they are close to Disneyland, a family destination. It is important for families to know that the area...
Read moreI would NEVER stay here again. We checked in late in the night, after 9pm. The front desk guy was nice and friendly. Did the normal check in as most hotels do. We went to our room, dropped off our stuff and took off for an already scheduled event. That is where we made our mistake. Upon entering the room, there was an odd smell but we just opened the window, in hopes that would fix, it and left. We also noticed stains on the comforters but figured we just won't use them. We did not get back to the hotel until after 230AM. Getting back into our room, we noticed things weren't up to par. The smell was of urine and leaving the window open did nothing to get rid of it. We went in to use the bathroom and noticed the floor had hairs all over it. After some of my party, laid down due to tiredness, we here a dripping sound. I go to check it out and the shower is leaking from the faucet. I attempt to get it to stop and it did not work as the handle was loose and appeared to be coming off. I go to call the front desk when we plug in our phones to the outlet near the beds and hear a humming noise. Turns out it was coming from the outlets, once we removed the plugs, the noise would stop. A lady named, Jackie, answers the phone, half asleep and I explain the situation and request to be transferred to another room. At first I am told there is no other rooms and no maintenance until the next day; then I request a refund due to the fact we can't sleep, the odor in the room is strong and not going away, and the sounds are not allowing for a good nights sleep. Also, walls, paper thin, we could here our neighboring room as though they where in the room with us. Their TV and all! Once I request a refund, I am told that she is willing to refund my second night but would not refund the first. Then she mentions she has single rooms available and can transfer us to there. I agree and when she goes to pull of the rooms she says, "Oh, you're in luck, there is a room next to you that has two beds in it. I will let you go there." I agree and she request that someone from my party go to the front desk and get the key, but before we get off the phone, she request I take pictures as proof of the unclean flooring and the dripping faucet. I do that and go up. She looks at my phone and states, "oh, I thought it was a drip from the ceiling. Please just shut everything off before you go to the other room." I agree, I go back to the room and get my sister to come with me and check out the new room before transferring. Right when we open the door, yet, again, a hair. This room floor is filthier than the one we currently where in. The bed room part is filthy and the bathroom floor is worse! There are hairs all over that floor, along with pee marks ALL over the towel flooring. It was DISGUSTING!!!! I go back and call her and tell her we won't be switching rooms and request a single. She tells me she can't do that and asks me, "ma'm what are you expecting? We don't use dry mop cleaning, we use water. I don't know what you want." I told her I want a refund so I can find another hotel. She refuses and states she will only give me a refund on the one night, if I check out. ||We spend the next couple hours trying to find a place to go to that will take us in the middle of the night. Most all places where booked and couldn't take us. We ended up finding a place and leaving. When I went to check out, she didn't answer the phone till the third time I called. She then refused to come and give me a receipt and stated to "just leave the key in the room." I told her I was in the lobby and wanted her to come and give me a receipt of my stay. She refused and said to leave the key in the room once again. I told her I was not going back to the back of the hotel to do that I would slip the key under the window. She agreed and hung up. ||||This place is HORRIBLE. We didn't even stay there and I am being denied my refund which is wrong. I think if they wanted to rectify the situation they would give back my whole stay. They got $170 for us not staying there and not providing what the advertise. ||||Warning the pictures are deceiving and I would pay more or about the same for a MUCH better place!! ||||Parkside Inn, you should do the right thing and refund my night that I didn't stay. I was at your hotel for about three hours and you kept the whole nights price. You are wrong...
