I would highly NOT recommend staying at this hotel! When we entered our 1st level room, we immediately noticed a horrible, musty smell. The carpet was damp and then as we inspected other parts of the room we noticed everything was damp, the bedding included! We spoke with the front desk clerk, who was friendly, and asked if we could get a different room. She checked and everything was sold out (due to the Iowa State Fair). We told her our issues and she said she was aware of the problem and has many other complaints regarding the same issues. She said she had spoken with the manager about them but nothing has been done to fix them. We decided to check out the pool area, which upon entering we were asked by a lady if we were there for private lessons. That’s right, they hold swimming lessons in their hotel pool area! We left for a bit and came back to attempt to sleep as there were no other hotels available, but it was unsuccessful. It’s awfully hard to sleep in damp sheets. When we were checking out, we spoke with the hotel manager who was absolutely no help, just stood there and nodded and said thank you. As we were packing the car we noticed a couple who had also stayed there the night before and asked them how their stay was, they had the same issues as us!! A minor disappointment was the sad breakfast bag we received instead of a continental breakfast that they advertise. It contained a special k bar, a small pack of mini donuts a small bottle of water. This was definitely not worth the $200 we paid to stay in this dump!! Luckily we were only there for one night, but that was more than long enough. I will never stay in this place again and encourage others not to either. I woke up extremely stuffed up which could be due to allergies, or the mold I was breathing in all night in that room. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere if staying in this area, it’s a complete waste of...
Read moreI picked this place because it had a pool, hot tub and free breakfast. We stayed on a Monday night. I did not make a reservation in advance and we were able to get a room no problem. The people at the desk were friendly and got us into a 1st floor room w/ a King bed quickly. The room was clean and felt cozy. The room was a good size, the tv, microwave and fridge all worked. No bad smells either. Breakfast was all good food, yogurt, apples, bananas, eggs sausage biscuits gravy apple juice, cereals and coffee, area kept clean. The biggest reason for picking this place was to hot tub. I started my calling 3 other hotels in the area at a similar price w/ breakfast and they just didnt have a hot tub. 1st when we finally made our way down tot he pool around 5 there was a ladt and a young teen girl swimming laps.. no problem they were respectful and didnt take up the whole area. We left and came back around 7pm and the same older lady was there with 5 kids and 5 other adults. I then realize she was teaching them how to swim. They took up the whole pool. We decided to get in the hot tub. It was nice temperature and was big enough for 11 people. Then the older lady was getting loud and frustrated with some of the kids and yelling loudly. Brings 2 of the small kids over the hot tub and tells them to get in. She shut off the jets to the tub and told us shed turn them back on when the kids are done.. I then moved to one side of the hot tub waiting for her to turn bubbles back on.. she did not. I noticed bandages and trash in the corner under the window, totally grossed out I left the pool area. We left to get dinner at the Casey's across the parking lot and on our way back in the lady at the desk says to us She is gone now.. BUT HAD I KNOWN THIS WAS GOING ON I WOULDN'T HAVE STAYED THERE. I usually stay at the Drury Inn across town. Lesson learned! I...
Read moreThe first night we stayed (Friday), we walked into a very humid room. So bad that the bedding was damp to the touch. There was an offputting smell, but we brushed it off as hotel smell. Saturday morning we were preparing to leave for our adventures and my bag had dropped near the nightstand so I went to pick it up and noticed mold/mildew on the bedding/bedskirt. This was after we asked if we could talk to a manager due to the smell/humidity that morning, which we were told there was no manager there until 2-3pm that day. As we were leaving the room for the day, taking our stuff so the room could be properly cleaned 2 staff members approached the room so I showed them the mold/mildew. The one said they would take care of it. There were 3 adults and a 1year old staying in our room. Fast forward about an hour later, I receive a voicemail asking if we are checking out and canceling remaining reservation. The manager, who happened to be the one the checked the room and also told us no manager was on the premises until 2-3pm, was absolutely rude when I returned a phone call, saying she found nothing wrong with the room and the only thing she was set to do was cancel my reservation. After my sisters boyfriend spoke with her, she agreed to move us to a different room. The hot tub jets didn't work and the pool area floor was in poor condition, with loose pebbles everywhere. The bathrooms in all rooms didn't have any sort of ventilation, causing rooms to become very muggy and sticky. The "hot" breakfast was luke warm, at best. The breaskfast area was small and hardly had seating. I will never stay with AmericInn again. I am appalled at the staff and hotel. If I could rate this hotel any lower, it would without a doubt get 0 stars, but I am required to give...
