In 2024, we stayed at this location for the first time and were extremely pleased with the hotel. So, when planning a return trip to the Des Moines area this summer, we knew we wanted to stay here again. We made our reservation directly with the hotel over the phone (not through a third-party site) and specifically requested a room with two queen beds. Our confirmation email also clearly indicated this request.
However, upon arrival and checking in, we discovered that we had been placed in a room with only one bed and a pullout sofa. Assuming this was a simple mistake, we returned to the front desk to have it corrected. Unfortunately, we were informed that the hotel was overbooked and that no rooms with two queen beds were available. The front desk agent contacted her manager, who told her there was nothing that could be done and we could either keep the room or leave. According to the agent, the manager oversees nine hotels in the area and is rarely on-site.
What the manager didn’t realize was that we had already checked into the room, making it impossible for the front desk to cancel the reservation or issue a refund. We were told we could try calling the manager ourselves the next day to request a refund, but we insisted on getting a refund before leaving the hotel to go to another hotel. After a second call to the manager, she was suddenly able to find a room with two beds for us (something that had supposedly been impossible just moments earlier).
We’ve been Wyndham members for years and have stayed at numerous properties across the U.S. without ever encountering an issue like this. While the front desk agent was friendly and apologetic, and we have no complaints about her service, the overall experience was disappointing and frustrating.
We would caution future guests that you may not receive the room you reserve, even if your confirmation clearly...

We live in Ankeny and were displaced from our home due to flooding in our house from bad storms and we have a small dog who is well behaved. Things were fine until breakfast the next morning. You have an incredibly rude old woman working in your breakfast area. My husband took our dog on a leash into fix himself a plate of food and was scolded. Then as we ate our dog briefly put his paws on the table. She scolded us again. The problem I have is if we did something wrong, you are in the Hospitality business where you should be pleasant. Had she nicely come over and said, can you please keep your dog off the table. That would have been totally acceptable. Also put a damn sign up if there should be no pets aloud in the food area. How are we to know they can’t go in there. Then when we checked out I complained about our treatment and the gal checking me out said nothing and gave me the bill. No apology, nothing. She just blatantly ignored what I said. You missed out on two more nights of us staying as we...
