Tasty Taco has been a beloved staple in the Des Moines area for as long as I can remember, and with good reason. With three locations across the city, it’s one of those rare spots where consistency, flavor, and service all hit the mark every single time. I’ve been going there for years, and no matter which location I visit, I’m always greeted with a warm welcome and that familiar, comforting smell of seasoned meat and fresh tortillas.
Their flour tacos are, without question, my favorite. I’d put them up against any taco in the world—bold seasoning, just the right amount of cheese, and that signature soft, warm shell that holds everything together perfectly. It’s simple, but that’s what makes it special. They’ve got the formula dialed in, and they don’t need to complicate it.
What really stands out, though, is the service. The people who work at Tasty Taco seem to genuinely care, and that goes a long way. Whether it’s a quick lunch or a craving I can’t ignore, Tasty Taco always delivers. It’s more than just a local taco joint—it’s a part of Des Moines' identity, and a place I’ll keep going back to...
Read moreDo not order delivery from this place. They route the order through Doordash but have no control over it. I placed an order and waited about an hour; no one to deliver the food. I called and they said they can't do anything about that so I said ok and came down to pick up my order. I said since I was here, cancel the Doordash order but they can't do that. So I left and called Doordash about cancelling the order and getting a refund on the delivery charges (since I picked up the order myself). Doordash said it was on Tasty Tacos to issue a refund. I called Tasty Taco about the situation and the people said they would forward my message to the manager and the manager would get back to me. After this, I started eating and realized they forgot one of my burritos. I called again about getting a refund for not just the delivery fee and the tip for the nonexistent delivery driver, but for the burrito as well. The person who answered the phone said they would pass along the information to the manager.
Never heard back.
So, I'm out nearly $15 because of their...
Read moreTried for the first time tonight after rave reviews from my mom,but was very disappointed. I didn't know what to expect (menu and restaurant has no pictures of any of their items) so I tried a flour chicken taco and corn pork taco. Turns out you get very bland everything no matter what you order. Tacos are just bland meat of your choice (as long as it's beef, pork or chicken, or beans - - no idea what kind), shredded iceberg lettuce, and a boatload of shredded cheddar cheese. The pork taco is a shredded pile of bland pork in a hard corn shell. Nothing on the menu indicates that it is a hard corn shell. The chicken taco was bland precooked frozen chicken strips in a greasy fried shell reminiscent of a fried puffy pita bread. The only way to make them semi palatable is to take them home and smother it in good salsa and fresh tomatoes to counter the greasy bland gut bombs. Tasty taco is not so tasty. Go to Fuzzy's tacos...
