Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Ankeny

Called at 4:00 pm made reservation for 6:45 on Friday night. Arrived at 6:35 for our reservation. Did not get seated until 7:45. Ordered blooming onion can out cold and grease on the bottom of plate, all you could taste was the grease. Placed order for Marsala, was seared nicely on out side but was cold to eat. Was really raw not even warm to the touch when received. Parmesan rice was cold, only item warm on the plate was the broccoli. Shrimp Alfredo, shrimp had so much pepper or seasoning shrimp did even that like shrimp and was only warm not hot. Macaroni & cheese order was cold as well. Asked for more bread and was never delivered. Tables seated after us got their food before we received ours. Every time the front door open a blast of cold air came in and right to where was sitting. Had to sit with our coats on to eat. Just because cold out side does not mean if has to be cold inside by the wall. This is the second time been disappointed eating at Outback. Only reason eating at Outback received a gift card other wise would not of gone since the first experience was worst. Found a piece of glass in blooming onion and cut my mouth. Only thing manager said Sorry would you like another blooming onion? Really just after your found a piece of glass and had cut inside of your mouth. Never offered discount or even offered to pay for meal. Stated then would never go back. Needing to work on getting food out in a timely matter and make sure the food is HOT. Can not understand why people keep going back...

Came to eat here on New Years Eve with 2 adults and 3 kids. We were quoted a 30min wait, but got seated within 15min (def a bonus!) The kids and hubby had never eaten at Outback, and we went based on my recommendation raving about the food. The good: -Aussie Cheese fries were hot and fresh with lots of ooey googey cheese -Joey sirloin was cooked perfectly -Margarita flight was yummy and well priced The not so good: -kids burgers were very dry. They chose to eat their sides and put condiments on at home and eat the burgers later -ribeye (while tasty!) had zero sear or crust, seemed like it was cooked in a skillet The bad: -Queensland pasta came out tasting like overcooked pasta roni, like a dead pasta that had been sitting on the line and been refired. Took the protein off and asked for fresh pasta-in less than 2min a manager came out with my "fresh" pasta that was steaming...I took a bite and it was still overlooked mush. When I tried to stir it a bit, I found pockets with noodles stuck together and no fresh sauce, like it was my same pasta that had now been refired twice. Since everyone else seemed to be ok with their meal, I sent the pasta back and just finished my drinks and ate some bread. I've been ordering this pasta since high school (about 20 years now) and have never had anything close to what I was served that night. We might try Outback again in the future, but we definitely won't be returning to...

My husband took me there for my b-day. We were seated right away, but that's about it for speedy service. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks from the bar. By then my frozen drink had melted. Then it was another 10 minutes for appetizers to arrive. I ordered another drink, this time a beer. It still took 9 minutes to get that, at which time they brought my salad. Before I had a chance to take 2 bites, our dinners came. My steak was overcooked so I told the waiter. He argued with me, saying it looked medium rare to him in the middle. In one spot it was! He finally said he'd bring me a new steak, after making me empty my bread plate to put the first steak on. He never offered us steak sauce or refills on our water. We told him we'd take it to go and asked for our check. It was about 7 minutes until we got our check. The waiter picked up or check and credit card. Hubby told him we were then in a hurry, to please come right back so we could leave. He then went to the next table and took their entire order with our check and card in his hand. We asked if we could just take the check up front and pay ourselves, but he said he'd be right back. This took about 6 more minutes, which was speedy for this waiter. We finally left the restaurant more than 2 hours later. They were not super busy when we were there either. Tried to find a guest survey online but the page is a 404 not found. Will never go back...
