While traveling with my family from Arkansas to northern Iowa, we decided to reserve a hotel room to rest and recharge, with the goal of completing the final three hours of our drive the following morning. We booked a non-refundable room through Expedia, anticipating a comfortable overnight stay.
Upon check-in, the front desk attendant was polite and courteous. However, we were informed that some rooms were experiencing issues with the air conditioning units due to the hot and humid weather. While I initially accepted the explanation, it became evident—based on similar experiences detailed in other online reviews—that malfunctioning A/C units are a recurring issue at this property and likely require replacement by ownership.
Unfortunately, the room we were given had a non-functional A/C unit, making the stay extremely uncomfortable. I was feeling under the weather at the time and kept waking up in deep sweats—my family experienced the same. Hotel staff did attempt to accommodate us by moving us to another room with working air conditioning, but shortly after settling in, we were unexpectedly asked to vacate that room as it had been assigned to another guest in error.
This was a frustrating and disruptive experience, especially so late at night. We ultimately chose to leave the hotel around midnight. While Expedia handled the situation professionally and issued a full refund, we have yet to receive any acknowledgment or apology from the property’s management.
As business owners ourselves—running a successful collision center—we understand the importance of taking ownership of customer service issues and proactively addressing them. Sadly, that level of care was not demonstrated here. We will not be returning to this property...
Read moreNot a great experience. We have stayed at this hotel before but unfortunately this last stay will be our last time staying here. Nobody available at check-in (around 6 pm). Had to ring bell repeatedly and wait about 10 minutes. I was the only one in lobby waiting. Finally employee showed up. I asked for an extra pillow. She said none available due to Covid (which was 5 years ago). Was told housekeeping only comes every 3rd day. We were staying 3 nights and we were fine with this. We were given extra towels. Second morning, housekeeping was knocking on our door even though we had the do not disturb sign out. The worst experience we had was with the terrible internet connection. We were on the 4th floor and were continuously kicked off WiFi. When I asked the front desk, she said it was a 4th floor issue but was supposed to have been fixed. She did say we could change rooms however another front desk clerk told us the WiFi was hit and miss on every floor. We stayed in our original room and my husband would bring his tablet to the lobby when he wanted to connect. There are so many nice hotels in the area that we will choose differently when...
Read moreWe had a room for a Saturday night which I had booked over the phone. We were traveling cross country from Oregon to Ohio. Unfortunately the van broke down near North Platte, Nebraska and as a result we were stuck there. I called this hotel to tell them that I would not make it that night. They cancelled the reservation but still charged me for the night. They told me that they had a 24 hr cancelation policy, but they never mentioned that to me when I booked the room. I called Best Western Customer Service, which said the hotel itself makes those decisions, but they called the hotel to try and help us out and was told that the hotel would reverse the charge and the manager would call me to discuss. I never heard from the manager and the charge was not reversed. I called customer service and they told me that the hotel manager stands by the charge. I understand if you have policies in place, but you need to tell the customer those policies if you expect them to be followed. I cancelled my reservation for the return trip. I can not do business with people who will not work with you (especially in your...
