Menards obviously doesn't actually read these reviews since I got the same general response that everyone gets. I said in the review that the manager was part of the problem. Why would I want to talk to them again?
Black Friday 2023, I was helping a friend set some tile in his bathroom. He was short 1 sheet of underlayment. We went to Menards and had to pick it up in the yard. The gate attendant told me where to find it. We went over and loaded the 1 sheet and went to leave. The attendant then wanted me to roll down the window so he could look in the cab of my pickup. I declined. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came out and said he had to look in the back of my pickup cab. I said no. This has never been a policy to search the inside of a vehicle and itās none of their business what is inside of my vehicle. They didnāt check it on the way in and they most certainly werenāt going to check it on the way out. If fact they didnāt even look under the sheet of underlayment that I just loaded. He again spewed something about it being policy. Iāve been going to this store for at least 26 years and have never had anyone want to check the seating area of a vehicle. I told the manager he wasnāt looking inside the cab of my truck and if he didnāt like it then he could call the police. A little while later the police showed up. At the end of this ordeal one of the police officers asked the manager if he had any reason to believe that I stole anything. The manager replied with, ānoā. I was then allowed to leave. If Menards is having trouble with people stealing then maybe they should have lot attendants out helping customers in the lot instead of giving vague directions to where customers could find the products they purchased. Home Depot is right next door and the small amount of money I could save by shopping at Menards is not worth being treated like a criminal...

I had originally placed an online order with Home Depot and after waiting on the phone for 10 minutes while I contacted customer service to get some help from them and waiting on the phone for 10 minutes with the pick up department (while I was sitting there I placed my order through Menards online and I returned my items from Home Depot) because even when stepping into Home Depot recently no one ever asked do you need any help with anything. then after trying to contact them through phone while sitting in their parking lot and no one was able to pick up the phone at all. I came into Menards originally needing to pick up a curbside order and realize that I forgot one item so I came in and I actually went to the curbside pick up on foot where all of these gentlemen either helped me in one way shape or form from by offering to carry my items up to the front, (because I did have quite a few items) or just asked if I had already been helped. I havenāt had customer service like that at a Home Depot or a Loweās in a very long time. So thank you so much for showing me what Menards is all about. I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am not one to find blogs to complain about a product/servicer- this is my first time. Menards in Ankeny has horrific customer service. When being hung up on by a representative in plumbing regarding a fireplace order which they ordered the wrong venting supplies; I then took this matter to the store Supervisor. The store Supervisor then suggested that the person who I was talking to, "He would never do that to anyone and you must be mistaking who you talked to." This all took place over the telephone. I then had to drive down to the store, 45 minutes from my house, to get this matter voiced to another person in management. The parts were to be re-ordered and in the store by December 23rd- they didn't come; again on Dec. 29th- they didn't come; finally, we received the part on January 18th after calling the store.
This is absolutely what he said and such horrible customer service more than once, it is obvious if the supervisor reacts this way, of course the other departments have the same mentality.
Please, again, understand that I am not one to complain but this was so awful that I/we want others to know to save yourself the time and headache; shop somewhere else. It is worth the extra money to go to Lowes or Home Depot for...
