I was very pleased with this local inn, and will definitely stay again. This is a stay on a budget with an amazing view. Note: my review is 4 stars for a 3 star inn. I believe they go above and beyond for a local place. I visited Astoria, just for fun, end of 3rd week of August. Turned out there were multiple events happening in and around Astoria with every hotel and inn booked. We arrived in the early evening and although the room was not ready, we enjoyed some evening activities. We went to a local place for dinner, the drive a short drive to walk around Seaside and get some Taffy, then watched the sunset and Star gazed, near the Peter Iredale wreck at Fort Stevens State Park Beach. Honestly, had our room been ready, we would have stayed in and missed a wonderful evening. At about 10 or so we returned and room was ready (although we did need to hunt down some pillowcases. Not a big deal, since I usually bring my own, to hotels.) The sunrise was amazing and the quiet sounds of fishing boats being prepped and heading out to a Salmon fishing competition, was a unique and memorable view. We expected a simple continental breakfast but found biscuits, gravy, eggs and sausage, along with fruit, yogurts, waffles and bread for toasting, and choices of beverages. I made a point of complimenting the employee managing the breakfast counter, because I was so impressed. Additionally, there is a nice cozy fireplace living room space, in the lobby, along with a few snacks and beverages for sale. The furniture and carpet could probably use some deep cleaning. Our bathroom was immaculate. Large wonderful walk in shower (big enough for two.) TV, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. If you are not used to a fishing riverfront, mixed with salt water, scent. You may desire a place a few blocks off the riverfront. Personally, I hope to make many return trips to this inn.

Fishing trip destination hotel. Arrived in late afternoon and was greeted by a friendly and helpful counter person. She was helpful in making our stay easy. We were on our way to our room within minutes. When we tried to open our door, we had to try several times to get it to work. Our next-door person wasn't that lucky and had to go back and get the key card reactivated. This hotel is an older hotel and it shows. Newer carpet and bath floor tiles. Smoke alarm well past is life cycle. Painted wallpaper. Looking up, one can see spiders and some mold damage in the bathroom. No antiscald shower valve or watersaving bath fixtures. The bath fan fails to exhaust the room and the mirrors remain fogged after your shower. There is no bath drain plug if you want to take a bath. The exterior is in poor maintenance, especially the rear with failed gutters and peeling paint and signs of wood rot. Low-end formica topped furnishings and stained carpets. The bed is harder memory foam. There is a simple continental breakfast that is available. Ice is available for guests. There is no air conditioning (but we did find a fan). Water pressure is too high, and every user can hear the nearby pipes. The upper floors can be heard as guests walk, talk with added squeaking of the wood floor, making sleeping tough. Sound attenuation really needs fixed. The hotel policy is to provide room service only when asked for multi stay guests. There are no ADA facilities seen for this older hotel other than parking. With pricing at $275 a night, value is very poor unless location is all you care about.

We enjoyed the view of the sail boats in the marina and the fresh air. The room, #245, is as pictured on the web site, it's simple, could use some color. I'm female, age 59. We paid extra for early check in and a no pet room. When my husband arrived around 11:30a they didn't have a room ready. He mentioned that we paid extra for early check in. She then said she had a room. When he went to the room he walked in to stained carpet. I arrived later and when I went to the front desk to get a sticker for the car dash, I mentioned the carpet was gross and we had to leave so we could address it later. I sent an email as we were driving to our destination with the hopes they would check on it while we were out. We didn't get back to the room until around 11:30p and we were exhausted so I didn't address the carpet with the front desk. The next morning at check out I told the front desk we were checking out and put the key on the counter and started to walk away. Since I wasn't asked "how was your stay" or "I hope you enjoyed the stay", I turned around and said "you might clean the carpet as it's gross and has stains". He didn't say anything as I exited. I sent a second email and as of today I have not heard back by email or phone. If you stay here, you might try the remodeled rooms.

Stayed at the Astoria Riverwalk Inn (formerly known as the Red Lion Hotel) June 2021 with my husband. When I was researching hotels, I was mainly taken in by the photos since the majority of hotels in Astoria were similar in pricing, and we decided to give the Riverwalk a chance. I had stayed at this hotel a few times before as a child when vacationing with my parents and thought it would be fun having a room with a view of the marina. Again, I was mainly taken in by the photos, the rooms looked very lovely and relaxing. When my husband and I checked in the staff were very friendly, their lobby looked quaint and we were told that they have a grab-n-go continental breakfast. We finally got to our room and I was very much disappointed. It was tiny and cramped with a lot of furniture, but the overall feeling was that I'd just stepped into a seedy and questionable motel room. It felt so dirty that the first thing I did was wipe down every surface with wet-ones wipes. The desk, dresser, table, both nightstands, all light switches, door handles, headboard, I even wiped down the front door that was covered in dust. I know with Covid that these rooms should be thoroughly cleaned but there was dust accumulating on the dresser and desk. I wish hotels would steam clean their carpets, I am so glad I remembered to bring slippers because I absolutely refused to let my bare feet touch that carpet and they didn't for the duration of our stay. After cleaning I sat down in their yellow arm chair to relax by the window only to get up immediately, the arms on both chairs were damp and brownish, I had to cover both chairs with all of the towels from the bathroom in order to sit down comfortably. I checked the rest of the room after this additional disappointment: the brass on the light fixtures were scratched off, there was mold in the pop corn ceilings, the ceiling above the sliding glass door was scraped off from closing the curtains, there was a huge stain on the floor, tiles in the bathroom were broken, the bathroom was so outdated with ugly overhead lighting, and my head was a few inches from hitting the ceiling in the shower (and I'm 5.5). Lastly, that was the worst bed I have ever slept in in my entire life, as soon as I laid down my back, hips and stomach were in pain. It was so stiff I could have slept on a piece of cardboard on the floor and not notice a difference. The staff and the view were pleasant but everything else was just terrible. I uploaded 9 pictures...

I would give it zero if possible. We stayed for 30 mins, while I booked a different hotel from the room. We didn't even feel very safe once we drove in the parking lot, when we saw the lot and building I thought we were at the wrong location, but sadly it was the correct one. The room smelled like something had died in it, the furniture was sticky, the lamp was ready to fall over when touched, and the bathroom door didn't latch properly, desk manager was borderline rude, promised to be in contact with me the next day, and never heard from him, after many messages sent through the booking site, got a response 2 weeks later, accusing me of false things, and denying anything was wrong. Refuses to give a refund for 1 night, that I was told I would get, and kept my payment for both nights. I knew they wouldn't honor honor refund, I consider it an expensive lesson learned..I would seriously read the poor reviews beside mine, as they are the truth. The pictures on the website of the rooms are far from what you actually get, when checking in. They call themselves an inn, but it is actually set up like a motel, doors that open to the outside, 2 stories, with steps that im glad I didn't have to climb. They offered me a discount for a future visit, but I would not drive 9 hours each way to step in the property again, and if I went back to Astoria there are far nicer places to stay.

I would strongly suggest a different place to stay. When you read the reviews, any time someone has had a complaint or an issue they claim to have checked it, and never once admitted to having anything wrong with their rooms. Anything from doors to lamps to locks, and the pictures are far from what you actually are given when checking in. I'm surprised they are allowed to mislead their guests. I lost several hundred dollars on this room, because it was dirty, unsafe, and not what I booked from the pictures. They owed me a refund for night, and have refused to issue it. They will never take responsibility for their actions and poor service, and continue to place the blame on their paying guests. My biggest regret is that I was too upset to take pictures so that I could post what people are given vs what is on the booking sites, but all I could do was focus on getting a different room at a true hotel or inn, not a run down motel, so I could have a clean safe location to salvage my vacation that this place came...

I drove two hours to get to this place and it was our anniversary so it was a surprise to my husband so I booked the room I was told I could pay cash when I got there and I even called and verified right before leaving that I could pay in cash when I got there and I get there I’m told no I have to wait until the morning to pay cash I asked if my card would be billed I was told no it would be just a void and I asked specifically will it be billed and take 2 to 3 days to go back on she said no it wouldn’t be billed at all so the next morning I go to pay cash and I notice later that they billed my debit card and overdraft my account. It’s been three days my money has not been put back on my card I am being charged fees for this. I asked for the cash back so I could just go deposit it into the bank to avoid fees and I was told no. So I have paid $420 for two nights in a room that has mold the internet didn't work so we couldn’t watch movies the tv had horrible connection the bathroom had a loud broken fan in it so when we showered water from the ceiling would drip all over us and the pipes were not working so all the dirty water was backed up Filling up the tub as we showered and the toilet would not flush correctly no pressure at all. We didn’t get any extra towels we had to use the same one the whole time. Service was horrible the night time clerk is too busy with her boyfriend to give a damn about it. He sits right there with her I am not even going to say what they cuz it’s not my business to tell. We sat in a room with horrible pipes and no movie no tv and could not soup because the ppl upstairs were walking around all night and the floors were squeaky cuz it’s a old building but it would have been nice to cover the noise with a tv that worked correctly … we paid all together so far $565 after paying double and the fees. I asked to speak with the manager but the blood girl didn’t seem to know anything at all … she couldn’t help me with anything all she could do was say sorry and apologize and admit the the plumbing and pipes are horrible she said cuz of the high tide and old pipes. I would really like a response back from the owner or someone to make this right. I have not received my money and I was told no money will be charged to your card at all and that was a lie. Horrible breakfast as well some might like...
