Worst hotel experience of my life. The only good staff member there is Lauren, who works the front desk... Also the cleaning ladies are all nice. However, I have never had such bad customer service from hotel employees in my entire life. I have been to hotels in two different countries, and to motel 6 in 15 different states, and the motel 6 in Astoria had the worst customer service from every hotel I've ever been in. There is a platinum blonde witch who works there and she goes by the name April, but her other common names are Satan, She-Devil, and The Source of All Evil. We stayed there for 2-3 weeks straight, and during that time there were two nights that we had extremely rude guests above us... Who were stomping, dropping things, and moving furniture for hours on end. Both times, April preached to me about how there was no one above us, and that I must be hearing someone to the side. Well, the second time she claimed there was no one above us, we stepped outside and looked at the window above our room and saw a man sitting in the window staring at us. I told April about this, and all the sudden her story changed... Now, she claimed that they talked to the man above us and that he said he was trying so hard to be quiet, even though for the past 30 minutes April kept repeating that there was no one above us. Then, a day later we were trying to pay for another night there, and we were informed that we were no longer allowed to stay there because they claimed we had an altercation with a staff member. That's right, that ugly platinum troll known as April literally lied to the manager to make us look bad. We had no alterations with anyone, all we did was make a noise complaint because the person above us was moving furniture and stomping for two hours straight... I think anyone would find that to be a reasonable complaint. Another employee informed us that April and the manager hate it when their guests make complaints. So, if you're a guest here and you have to make a legitimate complaint... Instead of the employee's helping you, they first won't do anything, then they will make up lies about you to try and get you banned.
Btw, we went to talk to the manager the next day to find out why we were banned, and she said there was a misunderstanding, she said we did nothing wrong, and she even gave us a discount for the inconvenience... Proving we did nothing wrong. Several of the employee's there are two-faced liars, who will smile in your face and tell lies about you when you turn your back. April is the worst one... I guess all that bleach she's putting in her hair in seeping into her brain. They need to fire that scumbag. Just imagine, you make a legitimate complaint, they do nothing to resolve your complaint, then the next day you find out that you've been permanently banned for something that never happened... That's EXACTLY what happened to us. April is a liar, she is a horrible employee, and honestly the owner of this motel 6 should really clean house there, because some of those employee's are giving their hotel a bad name. Lauren is nice, the cleaning ladies are nice... That's all I can think of. If you go to this hotel, I hope you don't have any incredibly rude guests above you, because at this motel 6 you will get banned and lied about if you make a simple complaint. Also, If any other employers around Astoria happen to read this review, I recommend never hiring April, because she will give your business a bad name. She was the front desk clerk, has platinum blonde hair, is short, and you can recognize her when she smiles in your face and makes up lies...
Read moreOkay so I’ve stayed at maaaaany motels in the past, so I knew what to expect, but my stay here really took all my already low expectations and through them in the trash haha. When we go to check in, they informed us that we were going to have to switch rooms the two nights that we had booked. So, we’d have to pack up all of our stuff after the first night, load it into our car again, check out, wait for the other room to be done, then load in there. Talk about a hassle and completely unnecessary. So after the first night, that’s exactly what we did. My boyfriend went to the front desk to check out and the lady there (a different one than the day before), had indeed informed us that no, we actually did NOT need to switch rooms, the people yesterday were just being lazy. Wow. Very cool. Thanks, guys. As soon as we walked in the room, it smelled like cigarette smoked covered by a fake air freshener. I don’t know if that was the last tenant or the room cleaning didn’t care enough or what, but wow, it was rough hahaha. The room itself was simple, plain (as you kind of expect a motel to be), but there was weirdly noart on the walls whatsoever? And there was also some bigger spots where the paint was chipping off the wall? There was an empty tissue box that never got refilled even after house keeping was there, the bed was freaky as all hell (sorry to any of our neighbors that were there!), there were two, separate small pillows there, and for a place right near the cold beach in February, not nearly enough blanket(s). Oh! And my favorite part! I got up from the bed and rested my hand on the headboard as I got up, and the whole thing came crashing down! Thank God my boyfriend wasn’t sleeping or it would’ve come down on him! Apparently it’s just a piece of cheap wood with a long slit in the back to hang up on some medal pieces. If you stay here, learn from our experience and don’t touch it!! Oh also, it wouldn’t be complete if checkout wasn’t a long hassle because the girl was on the phone the whole time! And while that may be legitimate if it was helping a customer, it was also the girl that was apparently lazy and “helped” get us checked in, so I’m not really too sure if that’s the case. Honestly, I fully debated giving this two stars because of the lady that helped us out on the second night, but the fact that we paid over $100 for each night that we had to stay here, just really trumps that, unfortunately. Honest to God, if ANY other motel/hotel/airbnb is available, go their first! Next year when we come into town, we’re going to look at every and all other option, and pay more if we have to, because it’s just not worth it. But if this really is your truly last resort, I’m so sorry, and bring air freshener, blankets, pillows, and some ibuprofen because you’ll need it. And again, don’t touch...
Read morethe website reservation had nowhere to request a handicap access room so I had to call the motel to ask for a ground floor handicap room. When we arrived we were told we had a ground floor room, but nothing was mentioned about it being handicapped. the first thing we were hit with was the smell, the maid must have used an entire bottle of cleanser in that room because the smell hit you from the door there was 1 chair, hard molded wooden looking chair. No table or desk, just 1 chair. echoed badly inside. This Motel 6’s website had showed a table and 2 chairs in the room. The bed; the sheets had been tucked so far under the mattress that the blanket was not even visible until we removed the bedspread and sheet and found the blanket mixed in between them, The bed base was so creaky that every movement was loud and echoed. The pillows were the smallest flattest things you have ever seen. The bathroom; WAS NOT HANDICAPED, the toilet seat was loose and caused me to fall when it slide sideways. It was very difficult to get up from the toilet without any grab bars, had to use the door frame to pull myself up right. . The toilet flush was so loud it uncomfortable. Again, I had asked for a handicap room because the photos on their website had showed a roll in shower in their “Deluxe” King room. Which is what we had paid for. The curtains; we discovered at night that the curtains were on a broken double rod system but there was only 1 curtain and it was placed 4 inches out from the window, allowing so much light around them that with the lights off we were able to read by the light of the porch light that was directly outside of our window, it actually got darker in our room in the morning when the light went out. Why there was not a second curtain or why the one that was there was so far away from the window I’ll never understand. There was an uncovered power outlet just under the headboard that could have caused a fire or electrocute one of us if we slid our hand in the 3 inch space between the bed and the wall. The cleaning person came in the next day, but all she did was pick up the towel off the bathroom floor and did not leave a spare roll of toilet paper, I tried to call the front desk but the phone would not accept any key presses, and the only number I could find was not for our front desk but rather headquarters. So I had to get dressed and walk across the parking lot in the rain to ask for a roll of...
