The manager Chris Bubbico's dishonesty and blatant disregard for customer service has lead myself and my company to never use this or any other Marriott in the country. I live locally and had a pipe burst inside my house. I have a family of Four and two dogs. Chris said a two bedroom would be best for the amount of stuff and people we were bringing in. Checked in at 7 pm on Friday night and was stuffed in a one bedroom. Brought to the attention of his staff, all they could say is he wont be in until Monday. Dealt with being cramped all weekend one of my dogs costing me $25 a day because there was no way all of us could have fit in there. Monday comes the sink backs up with nasty gray water with chunks of old food and smells terrible. Chris says he will send someone right away. No one comes for two days. He also says well I don't have a two bedroom until Thursday so you will have to deal with it or go somewhere else....Really?? Thursday Wednesday my room starts to smell like cigarette smoke terribly. My son has a breathing problem and had to receive several treatments because of this. Brought it up to his staff. They said well someone must be smoking in the bathroom just close the bathroom door and here is some deodorizing spray. I would have left right then but I already paid for the week and $100 no refundable deposit for my pet. This smell keeps going on for two more days. I brought it up to the front desk several more times and they did nothing couldn't find out who it was. I go outside to investigate and sure enough the person below my in the dead of winter has all 4 windows open. (That was hard). Thursday comes no rooms available again told to go somewhere else. There won't be any until Sunday. Very unhappy at this time because I have paid over $1000 potentially would need to be staying another two weeks while they put my house together. Sunday comes and we talked to the front desk about moving. She said Chris said the price for the two bedroom is now $180 $85 more than originally discussed. We were really up set now and asked for Chris' bosses number. Call spoke to Mary Gelder. She was very nice said to go down to the front desk and have them put you into the two bedroom and she would talk to Chris on Monday. My wife does what she was told to do and the front desk lady said that Chris was going to call us before we move. We thought great no worries.... We were dead wrong. Chris called us up screaming saying that seems we called his boss on him that were could get the "HELL" out of his hotel and were were never allowed there again. Shocked at this we called Mary back and she was very upset. Begged us to stay promising she would deal with Chris when he gets in on Monday because he would no longer pick up his phone for her. She tried to convince us to stay at another Marriott location. The front desk has shut our cards off to the room and the manager had been so unprofessional. So now we are staying at one of their competitors for the next two weeks and we will be telling everyone we know about how awful this experience was. In my job I am in contact with at least 1500 people a week as a district manager and am on the local softball team board. We have lots of tourneys with teams coming from all around to stay. They won't be staying there. My company puts on several conferences in Lewiston-Auburn every year including renting 10-20 rooms it won't be there or any other Marriott. I have never been so disappointed with my experience and feel that as a leader I would never allow any of my managers to operate there businesses like that. I can only hope something gets done about this so no other person has to deal with an...
Read moreI stay in the Lewiston Auburn area several times each year for four to five days at a time and I had previously opted for budget hotels/motels in the area to save money. This most recent trip I looked back on various stays at truck stop quality accommodations where I'd be awakened by domestic disputes on a nightly basis, and decided to pony up for something nicer. I was not disappointed!
First, the residence inn is in a very good location. It is right next door to a Walmart supercenter which has literally anything you could ask for. Several chain restraunts such as the 99, Buffalo wild wings, and longhorn steak house are within 2-3 minutes.
The rooms are spacious: they are moreso suites than traditional hotel rooms. My room was base rate and it had a small kitchenette, a desk, a sofa, big screen TV, and felt more like a small apartment than a hotel. The room was very clean and neat. The mattress was a pillow top and very comfortable.
The stay was generally quiet aside from the random thumps and kids in the hallway which is practically unavoidable in a hotel situation. Staff was super friendly. The breakfast buffet was actually very good and eliminated the need for me to find a breakfast joint each day. I did not visit the pool or gym.
My only critical point is that the kitchenette was extremely limited. I figured I'd save some money by buying a few simple meals to cook in the room, since a small range unit was installed. (also: fridge, microwave, dishwasher, traditional coffee maker, as well as full sets of dishes, cups, silverware, pots and pans. No oven.) I found that the cook top unit was barely adequate to mildly heat a can of soup and not much more. I could not boil water for pasta after trying for over a half hour, and I was barely able to warm leftovers in a skillet. So, most of the food I bought for dinners was disposed of at the end of the week and I ended up with take out. Mostly my fault for figuring the range could handle boiling a lot of water...
All in all, I will definitely be staying here again when I come in December. It is roughly double the cost of the cheaper accommodations in the area and that is certainly a consideration, but if comfort and a good night's sleep is worth a little more expense, this place is...
Read moreI hate leaving a bad review because the hotel room was beautiful and they were very clean! But this was a scary incident. The pool area was, in my opinion, dangerous. Prior to going in there was not an issue. Once we entered the pool area we all felt a little suffocated. We chalked it up to being a bit humid, like most indoor pool areas. We all started to have a harder time breathing as time went on, even the guests who did not go into the pool. We had 2 children with us that had asthma and they both began having severe asthma attacks. Everyone in my party that went into the pool developed rashes and it burned. Finally we noticed there were chunks of something in the pool floating around, and left the area.
Once we got back to the room and showered, the coughing fits went away. This was brought to the attention of the front desk (this was in the late evening) and we were informed they did not have anyone to check the pool at that time and they told us they should close the pool. We agreed because we were not the only ones we saw having the same coughing fits while in the pool area. After an hour had past we saw that there were still children swimming in the pool. I checked once more after another hour and the pool was still open.
We spoke with the front desk again in the morning and the nightshift never told the morning shift about it. They said in their own way that they can't tell us that their pool is what caused this, and their chlorine is set to timers, so they would have to call the maintenance person to look at it. When we checked out the pool was still open and people were swimming.
If there truly is too much chlorine, and I felt as though they brushed it off. I felt very unheard and as though the safety of their cliental is not as important as it should be.
We saw others leaving and still in the pool area having the same issues. I wish we hadn't have been so oblivious and did not...
