The first time my family and I visited IHOP, we went to the location in Portland, ME (auburn location was not open yet). The Portland restaurant was busy but service was great, food was great and we fell in love! So we where happy when they opened a location closer to home! First visit to auburn was disappointing but the place was new so we figured we would give the benefit of doubt and try it again. We came in this past Saturday we stood by the sign (please wait to be seated) for a good 5 minutes and then another couple came in and waited as well. After a few more minutes server finally comes and seats us and seats the customers behind us as well. Place at this point is not busy I don't even think 20 tables total and I saw at least 4 servers and a manager (maybe was manager I don't know because we never saw the manager). The server that seats us. Proceeds to take drink and food order from table seated after us before taking our orders (even though he seated us and knew we where there first). He then of course brings our food out 10 minutes after. My husband and I ordered the new French toast donuts. He got strawberry and cream I got the maple bacon. They where both ice cold. My husband ate his but I was disgusted by it and didn't eat it. They offered to make it new but by the time that the server had come around to ask how the food was the rest of my party was about done. So I said I was all set (had already lost all desire to eat anything else from there at that point). When he comes back he drops the check and didn't even offer to take my meal off! So at that point we had to ask why we where still being charged for something I didn't eat. He only then removed it from the slip. Then tells us that I was the 2nd to complain about cold food. I have worked and eaten in many restaurants in the Lewiston/Auburn area I have never seen a restaurant more poorly ran! Where was the manager when multiple customers are complaining? I was a restaurant manager for many years I tip well when treated well and I would give a place another chance but not when the manager don't even care when customers are leaving...
Read moreEverything was great here today, the food, the waitress, and and the service was perfect, but I had to remove 2 stars simply because I saw a big fly. It flew right over my food twice as if it had previously been its home. As any good Gordon Ramsay fan will know, if there is a fly in the building, there is a nest of flies someplace in the building too. 99% chance someplace in the kitchen with flies landing on all the food. I ate it anyway, since it looked and tasted good. Plus I fear nothing. The waitress was adorable and nice too. Usually if you get a really pretty waitress, she is rude. Or if you get a really nice one, she is ugly. This was the perfect waitress. Pretty and nice and right on time perfectly. The place was not exactly busy though. Also, very interesting story to add. I couldn't help but overhear the conversation 5 feet to my left in an otherwise empty place between two corporate managers and the store manager. I kept hearing the words "Where exactly is the money?", and "This is unauthorized use of company credit card..". I looked and the store manager was looking seriously guilty. They started talking about firing him and charging him with theft. It looks so bad. Not sure why they were grilling him like that at a table right within view of everything. The front door and the seating area. Maybe they wanted to intentionally embarrass him before firing him and possibly calling the cops. So I say there is a 100% chance this place is not being managed correctly. I also say make sure you vote yes to raise the minimum wage so people are paid enough and don't feel the need to steal from the register or from a company credit card in this case. It's not OK to steal, but it is also not OK to pay ridiculously low wages and pile more and more work on someone like all companies do. Don't fall for the republican bullshit. Vote yes for more money going to low wage earners and more taxes taken from high income earners who are playing the stupid net worth game...
Read moreMy husband and I have been to this location twice. The first time was the day they opened, there were pros and cons of this visit. First, we were seated at a mini booth, which would have been great... If it wasn't right next to the kitchen. It was extremely loud and I could hear all of the waitresses pow wowing in the back. My husband and I felt like we had to whisper very low to each other in order to have any privacy. The food was good, certainly not anything special but decent. The waitresses were very friendly... Maybe even a little too friendly. We were trying to eat our food and a couple of them would just come over and chit chat and tell us their life stories making it a bit awkward while trying to eat. The second time we visited we had about a 15 minute wait, which was completely ok with us. We waited patiently and finally were seated. We looked at the menu and ordered fairly quickly. The food took about 50 minutes to get to us and when it arrived it was wrong. There were also two tables that were there after us who received their meals first and a table that was there well before us who had just reveived their meals (which were wrong) as we were leaving. I had a side of toast with my meal and it was rock hard. I asked the waitress for new toast and began eating my food. She was walking around and looked at me a few times so I thought for sure it would be out any minute. 15 minutes later (after we had finished eating) I finally tracked her down and before I had the chance to say anything she said "yeah your bread is coming right out" and I responded and told her I didn't want it anymore and just wanted the check. We paid (including for the bread i didn't get to eat) and left. We understand this is a new place and it will take a while to iron out the problems. However, we will NOT be returning for quite some time. Hopefully when we do it will be much better, like the...
